Carolyn Gracie & Dan Hughes Leave QVC In Shocking Exits 

After being fantastic hosts for so long, it is truly astounding that they were not given a sendoff or a chance to say an on-air good bye. Horrible of QVC to do this.

They’re “saying farewell” because they got, unceremoniously, shown the door. QVC is not the company it once was. I’m done. Q’s loss, Amazon’s gain…you’ll see.

QVC is not only going down in their quality of products but also in the quality in how they treat their employees!! They should be ashamed of themselves!!

You both are going to be missed. I can't believe QVC did not even give you both a chance to say goodbye to everyone who followed you on the air. Dan & Carolyn you both gave many years and were my favorite hosts. I am appalled how QVC handled this.

So sad that a company axed Carolyn and Dan they should have gotten rid of the crappy young hosts who I can’t stand they are rude and never let the guests speak. You will loose more shoppers and you deserve it. Totally unprofessional.

I too, am extremely disappointed to find out that Dan and Carolyn have been terminated from QVC. They were both warm, fun and very professional hosts. Dan, always smiling, was so good at getting me to purchase tools and gadgets that I never knew I needed, but did. Carolyn, so cute, down to earth and relatable, presenting clothes and all things gardening. I watched and shopped her Tuesday Denim & Co. show every week. This is a true game changer for me! I cannot support a corporation that doesn’t appreciate and value two such dedicated and popular hosts. I read QVC’s $$ were extremely poor in 2022. With decisions like, this their 2023 $$’s are going to be much worse.

I have seen other companies try to Rebrand their line to a much younger audience or client base. What they fail to realize until it is too late especially for QVC is that their customer base is an older generation. They are alienating their customer base. They are getting rid of the very people in their company that gave them years of great sales. It was the relationship between the host and the customer that made QVC stand out. Now that is gone I expect qvc to be gone before long as well.

The newer people should be booted first. These two have been so much a part of what makes QVC shopping special.

I will not be shopping at QVC with what they have done. Shame on you QVC.

They let two of the best hosts go, I can't believe it!

QVC is making big mistakes by firing longtime hosts we all enjoy. That being said there is a longtime host I wish they would fire, Jane Treacy! She is obnoxious and fake as you can get. She left QVC years ago and was welcomed back making me think she must have a family member working in corporate. QVC is not doing well. Products particularly clothing is nothing more then what you can buy from Kohl’s or Walmart.

I believe that the reasons QVC dropped Dan and Carolyn was for the following two reasons. They are older, and they probably make a lot of money. Let me tell you, QVC made a big mistake. I buy from QVC but I have a limited amount of time I can watch. But, my mom and my grandma have more time. Especially my grandma. They like the older hosts a lot because they can relate to them more. They are so upset about Dan an Carolyn being given the boot they refuse to watch QVC anymore. And believe me, they both bought a lot of stuff from them. I am not watching QVC anymore in solidary of my mom and grandma. Might turn out to be a good thing. We we all save tons of money, and will spend that saved money elsewhere. So long QVC. You know it isn't always about the dollar.

As a long time QVCer Shame on QVC. The young hosts can’t hold a candle to the older hosts who are like family. Isn’t there a law about firing people because of their age?

Sad that QVC let over 400 people go. Dan and Carolyn were great hosts. They let them go while keeping the newer hosts, who obviously make less money.

Was looking forward to Garden Party with Carolyn .. I’ll now shop at Lowes. QVC should’ve thought this thru, not a nice way to shock loyal customers by axing their beloved host… I’m sad.

QVC will go bankrupt! Their prices are insane and their quality has gone down hill. Their clothes look no better than something you'd find at Walmart and ten times the price.

If management is so concerned about money issues, perhaps they need to cut the other two channels and only have the original. To be honest, I am disgusted with the management of QVC. The younger hosts don’t know the products, have poor grammar, and need to stop being cute. Get down to the business of their jobs. Host, not entertain!

Being a long-time QVC viewer, the news of both your, and Dan's, abrupt and unexpected terminations, have been nothing short of unsettling. I always enjoyed your "no nonsense" approach to your sales presentations (you could sell almost ANYTHING...something that more than a FEW of your former colleagues are incapable of doing), and your warm, long-time friendship with Phillip Watson was so evident when you both presented his Cottage Farms collections over the years. They were some of my favorite shows. To say that you will be missed is a huge understatement, but the realization that QVC, along with its' sister station are far from what they used to be, and the difficulties both are/will experience going forward in today's retail and economic climate, should give you some measure of comfort in knowing that you now have so very many choices and paths before you, and scores of loyal fans who will be around to see all the great things that the universe has in store for you (and for Dan, who I have watched since his debut QVC appearance so many years ago). All the very best to both of you...

I truly am saddened about the lost of Dan and Carolyn as hosts at QVC. They were so trustworthy and always interested in what their customers wanted. Some of the hosts now are only “ hard sell”. I tried to watch D & C today but it was not the same. QVC made a big mistake !

Carolyn was my favorite host, so I am beyond sad. I think QVC has made a terrible mistake by getting rid of beloved hosts who are more relatable to the mature audience. Also, I'm thinking, the audience who spends the most money. They will lose a lot of customers. I don't think I can watch anymore.😥

Did anyone else completely stop watching and shopping after this? My wallet has never been happier. Thank you to the people who made this poor decision ... you cured my QVC addiction!

In regards to Carolyn and Dan leaving, I will say unreservedly that I am angry! Was this QVC's decision?! QVC became a family to so many people. I'm sorry but so many of the new hosts just do not even measure up. Something is terribly wrong with this picture! Carolyn and Dan are part of the group of hosts that form a community and I question the survival of QVC if they think they can afford to get rid of the icons. I personally am tired of things in this country changing and being dismantled. The quality of these two hosts cannot be replaced by a hundred new ones. And Dan's humor cannot be replaced. I question the wisdom of QVC. I have no interest in purchasing anything from QVC anymore. What a sad situation.

Both such attractive and gracious individuals. I think it was a case of forced retirement. Unfortunate, because they were both an asset to the channel.

Was a customer of QVC from day one but for years now, I've hardly watched or shopped........quality downhill. There have been hosts let go that I was glad to see leave, others I missed. No matter what, though, the way they were disrespected by being let go after so many years is disgusting. Goodbye QVC......you suck!

I am NEVER watching QVC anymore! She and Gary together were the only ones I ever watched. I don’t like the younger women who have replaced her. She was my gauge on how the clothes might look on me because we were the same size. Now, a month later, I haven’t watched D&Co at all, and none of the other QVC offerings. I have noticed that D&Co seems to be aired a lot more often than it used to be. I wonder why?

Soooo, Shawn and Courtney are still there 🤮 Not watching anymore. The prices are way too high and the quality is crap. So much for Quality, Value, Covienance. They've become useless. Sad to see them fire the best hosts. Sad.

QVC, you have really lost the feeling of community and feeling anything for those that have been shopping with you. Hiring only young people and ditching loyal great hosts that we all felt were like family to many. To do this to Carolyn who shares a huge love of animals and is such a trusted host, and Dan who is a wonderful kind host who is another familiar face you are going to replace. That is an insult to them as well as those of us that view the program and purchase products. How long before Valerie will be gone? I miss all the familiar faces you have removed. You need to learn about feelings, not just profits.

Horrible news...now qvc is left with the younger ladies who giggle, sound like car salesman, talk over guests and keep telling stories about where they have been, what they have done, what their children do, etc. It's all about the silliness and shouting and most can't even really describe the product. Makes one wonder if they are married to producers, etc. Is Mary Beth next???

QVC has not only eliminated these wonderful hosts, they have also lost me as a customer. If this is how you treat dedicated older employees, I will no longer support your company. Shame on you.

Carolyn was one of the best hosts on QVC she was down to earth like someone you have known for a long time not a put on just down to earth person. I have watched for year's and bought a lot of expensive items but I think I may cut back.

Look, no one wants to be let go. But where is the loyalty? After they let go of the first batch of loyal hosts, they turned around and hired more new ones. That was a slap in the face because they said they let go of them because of covid and less shopping, less money. Now, why not let go of some of the newer hires instead of the OG's. They did NOT leave on their own - they were let go by QVC, along with 400 other QVC employees..., and HSN, as well, let go two of that network's Hosts, one who was with them for over 20 years, and probably other employees as well.. Sad...

Watch out Mary Beth and Jane brown,and anyone there who is 50 years old and older! Out with the old and in with the new,or I should say younger host!!!! It just goes to show that you are loved and valued for the moment, until you’re not. When they are done with you, you are just another ship that passed in the night. Employers could not care less about their employees and that’s across the board. It’s sickening 🙁…

Carolyn and Dan were two of the best hosts when I first started watching QVC. If their terminations (yes should have been their decision to leave), but I’m sure that everyone knows the real reason. And it sucks! After working for QVC for so many years, putting the work, effort and love into their jobs. QVC viewers don’t need knew young hosts, they like the ones that they associate as hosts of the network. QVC I think you have really made some big decisions/mistakes. I’m just saying that there’s a good chance that this will come back to bite you in the ass.

OMGosh! What a Crock!!!! I have bought from these two special people for years!!! They have been my comfort many hours when I lost my parents and went through 26 years of ongoing cancer, they were my comfort! Well, I am done with QVC, you just don't treat good people like this!!!

QVC shipping rates are so over the top expensive that people will be saying adios once they see their favorite hosts have been fired.

I remember when Carolyn was new and I was a fan right away. She became my favorite host. Both of them were always prepared and knowledgeable which builds trust in customers. The newer ones don’t have their same qualities. I don’t think QVC will capture the young shoppers and the younger generations are not brand loyal. I think that QVC has shot itself in the foot with this decision. Their bread and butter are the older generations and their long time viewers - which are now upset and alienated. They no longer offer things you can’t find anywhere else, and their deals are no longer great. Carolyn and Dan were huge assets and this was a very poor business decision. I’m done with QVC. This was the last straw.

The US is going into a severe recession. Most people don't need more pajamas and lip gloss..😏 This is just the beginning. I always enjoyed Dan on the Christmas shows.

I can’t believe QVC would let these loved, trusted and experienced hosts go. Yet keeping YOUNGER, less experienced and fake hosts. The quality of QVC has gone down over the years and this pretty much seals the deal for me. I have been a customer since 1988 and I’m done.

Yet, they keep prissy Kirsten Lindquist and boring David Venable? I didn't know HSN's Shannon got the boot! Denim & Co. will lose many of their customer base. So messed up.

A guy that has worked where I do was given the boot a few weeks ago. He worked here 26 years. No heads up, no severance, no nothing. Told his position was redundant??? In reality, it's obvious companies get rid of the high paying (older) people and bring in fresh faces for less pay. Sadly, nowadays, loyalty means nothing!

This is a disgrace. It is also blatant ageism. I am sure they have silenced them with NDA - blackmail of older workers. I am literally going to avoid all purchases I can. In the name of diversity, they have erased people who built the Station. I will not buy one thing of ANY new host going forward. This is clearly discriminatory as they have hired hosts who can barely present . Perhaps for lower salaries?

I discovered QVC about 30 years ago while I was laid up with a broken ankle. It was my ‘go to’ shopping place. I became known as The QVC Queen as I made sure everyone always got something from QVC at the holidays. I loved watching Dan on the morning show when he had his dog on the show! And I knew I could depend on Carolyn to share great information about gardening items or Denim and Company. I must admit I don’t watch as much as I used to, but I would look for them on line. Very sad to see them and other experienced hosts leave😢

True I agree QVC is going down hill. I used to work there same year Dan Hughes started in 1989. I feel for everyone who got let go. It's the companies loss. Don't let this stop you guys from moving forward past qvc. Best to all of you.

I think QVC is trying to grab younger customers but will be unsuccessful because of the style of clothing, for example, does not appeal to the younger audience. Product lines do not appeal to them either. The new hosts are awful and unprofessional. Some don't even know ordinary things. You'll be losing a lot of customers because of the decisions that have been made. I used to enjoy watching and buying but those days are over. Nice job, new owners of QVC and HSN....you've done your shareholders wrong. Hope you're happy. Bye bye.

QVC has been going down hill for years. If they are losing money it’s because they dropped popular brands like Bruce Makowski and Kathy Van Zeeland. They brought in unpopular, matronly lines like the one from the trashy Beverly Hills Hiusewive. People don’t want to see that.

QVC should remember who their customers are and who has the buying power.

Did you ever notice how the older more established people are always let go but the pushy fake few remain. Interesting those that have been there a long time must feel very vulnerable. They took the life out of the company when they let many hosts go that were a part of the early days. They knew how to present merchandise with skill and warmth. I do see the end to this company. Not the variety of products they had in the past. Although this economy is horrible for retail. So many stores closing. I wish them the best. They are some of the most genuine people. I hope they find a new place to land!

Management sucks and has no class. They fire employees and escort them to the door. These hosts were not even given the opportunity to say goodbye on air. I'm done buying from QVC and HSN.
