Spectacular film clips, behind-the-scenes footage and rare interviews document the life of one of television's most recognizable faces.
For just two years, she played Morticia Addams, the mom of the ghoulish TV family based on cartoonist Charles Adams' creations. But she excelled on Broadway, won an Oscar® nomination and continually defied the expectations of casting directors and fans alike.
Carolyn Jones was named after the movie star Carole Lombard, and followed in her footsteps. After graduating high school, she attended the famous Pasadena Playhouse before making her screen debut opposite William Holden in The Turning Point. A series of comic roles with Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Micky Rooney left her hungering for more substantial parts, and at the same time that she was re-appraising her career, her decade-long marriage to Aaron Spelling was foundering. A year after their divorce, she landed the role of Morticia on The Addams Family, and soon she was a pop phenomena.
Filled with rare clips, outtakes and the recollections of friends and family, this BIOGRAPHY® follows Carolyn from her Texas childhood to her late-'70s comeback on Broadway, which was tragically cut short by cancer.

A good friend of mine taught her dancing about 2 years before she died and said that she was one of the nicest people she has ever known...

Thank you very much for posting this great story about Carolyn Jones. I did not even know that the narration was done by Billy Mumy (Lost In Space) and produced by Kevin Burns who I met at a Lost In Space convention. Thanks again. Vic

Thank you for posting this! I just saw an old episode of The Addams Family on Comcast's Xfinity and was curious about what Carolyn was like after the series. I googled her and not only found her, but found all about her, again, thanks to you! She really was such a dynamic actress and as dtexasnative said, she was in far more film than I realized!

Wow, strange to hear that there was a time that Aaron Spelling didn't have a penny to his name.

I think she looks better with darker hair. Either way though, she was a truly great actress. She even starred in a short clip of The seven year itch with Marilyn Monroe

She actually decided not to have children. She felt that it wouldn't be fair to bring a child into this world when she had so little time for one, and so she decided against being a mother.

Such an honorable decision, especially at that time. Morticia is my favorite TV Mom of all time

Bizarre that they felt the need to point that out, since 20% of women also "actually decide", as you put it, to not have children. Far too many people carelessly reproduce.

It's a shame she never had children. Watching her interact with Lisa and Ken, who played Wednesday and Pugsley on The Addams, I thought she would've been great at it, and Lisa mentioned often how loving she was. I wonder if she ever regretted that...

Probably not because that's what she wanted. For some people having children isn't a dream. She was perfectly happy with her career and it was some career she had too.

I don’t think so. She mentioned that her career was like her baby. She loved working and meeting people throughout her career. I think that she got the satisfaction of being a mother from being a TV mother. Like she said she didn’t think she could give her own kids, if she had them, the attention they deserved. So, for her, having on screen kids like Wednesday and pugsly likely gave her that joy of interacting with children while getting to progress her career and not worry about whether or not she was a good mother or not. I hope that makes sense

@dtexasnative I don't think they mention it here, but she was also supposed to be in, "War Of The Worlds". In fact she WAS in it, but only for about 2 or 3 seconds at a distance. They cut her part out just after it started.
