Of the three arrangements of the Beatles' original song, this is the masterpiece with the widest range of arrangements, and both the rhythm and lyrics are characterized by the Carpenters' unique melodic arrangement.
Yoko has a fine voice you guys just can’t get past Beatle John. If you can honestly listen to Angela, We’re All Water, Don’t Worry Kyoko, Hard Times Are Over, Yes, I’m Your Angel just to name a few and STILL tell me she doesn’t have a nice voice your opinion to me is moot. She is absolutely no Karen Carpenter but she has never once attempted to be, Yoko is unabashedly herself and she rocks for that. Not saying she doesn’t have weird stuff but she definitely has a beautiful voice in her own right.
This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you Richard Carpenter for keeping the flame of the Carpenters alive! I love this orchestral mix! Karen's singing is so pure!
Again, wow! Even John Lennon told her "I want to tell you love, I think you have a fabulous voice." Lennon never gave compliments. It reminded him of the Beatles harmonies way back when. Karen could sing ANYTHING!
Simply beautiful! Everything about this recording is beautiful. The orchestral arrangements, the Philharmonic, the entire package. As beautiful as they are, they only provided the pedestal upon which Karen's inimitable voice stood out as the most beautiful part of the entire performance.
Karen's singing on the repeated first verse, after the middle eight, is sublime. That "oh" is inspired! I'm glad that John Lennon met her in a restaurant and told her that she had a great voice!
Being a digital art student and an instrumentalist (flutist) at the same time... I really appreciated this video... Kudos to the Carpenters and whoever made the animation for this lyric video. :)
In my opinion, NO one that has ever lived had a voice like Karen Carpenter. She was a phenomenal singer and a incredible drummer as well, How Karen could sing so incredibly and play the drums at the same time is totally incredible. God bless you Richard for this latest Carpenters recording. It is very emotional to listen to these as it feels like Karen is still here with us. Richard is the genius behind the arrangements and Karen was the Genius with the most incredible voice I ever heard in my life. Her voice gives me chills like no one else could and I am sure this was a very difficult thing for her brother to do. Karen will always be in our hearts and so deeply Loved and missed!!!
I think I'm gonna be sad, I think it's today, yeah The boy that's driving me mad is going away He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride and he don't care He said that living with me was bringing him down, yeah He would never be free when I was around He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride and he don't care Don't know why he's riding so high He ought to do right, he ought to do right by me For he gets to saying goodbye He ought to do right, he ought to do right by me I think I'm gonna be sad, I think it's today The boy that's driving me mad is going away, oh He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride He's got a ticket to ride and he don't care, don't care Think I'm gonna be sad Think I'm gonna be sad Think I'm gonna be sad Think I'm gonna be sad Think I'm gonna be sad Think I'm gonna be sad
I watched Karen floating in our cove at our beach house in Lake Tahoe. Harrah's housed his entertainers in the next door house. I was only 13 and I fell in love. Collected Carpenter albums during my 70's high school years - my friends laughed at me. Well 46 years later, I'm still in love.
So beautiful video, so beautiful performance by the most beautiful 19 year old girl with the most beautiful voice ever, I will love Karen Carpenter eternally.
I saw the Carpenters in concert in Wichita, Ks. Third row middle from the stage. Karen was stunning. Her voice pure and clear. The day it was announced she had died, a little of music did also. I miss her kind of music and Richard's arrangements. Truly taken from us way too soon.
Hauled like a whipped donkey from Reno, NV to Lake Tahoe to see the Carpenters, summer of 69? Got to the casino but failed to bribe the guy giving seats but still luved their concert (from the back row). I really loved my girl, Theresa, tho.
I think this version of Ticket To Ride is the best. Superbly performed and It has a plaintive, sort of melancholy tone to it which fits the lyrics perfectly.
Quelle magnifique reprise ! Par une voix sublime qui me touche toujours aussi profondément… The voice of the heart, the voice of the angel… It's true. She left us too soon.
Eu fui... eu sou... eu serei... além da minha vida, apaixonado por Karen Carpenter e sua voz inconfundível e única dentro do meu coração.❤ Certeza absoluta que ainda ei de te encontrar um dia, seja aonde for... e te amar.
One of the best covers ever made. Better than the original in my opinion. Her voice is ethereal, out of this world crystal clear and pure. Love love love.
I was a member of the Carpenters Fan Club in Japan. As a fan club member in Kansai /Osaka, I went to see their live concert and was deeply moved. 47 years later, I feel nostalgic. We wish Karen's memorial, and successes Richard's Live concert in Japan in March 2023.
Although originally a Beatles song, Karen made this song the Carpenters' song with her angelic voice. She would have done this great as a solo song, too. Such a talented woman, a beautiful soul. You will always be a beautiful Superstar, Karen. Thank you for your voice and musical brilliance. And thank you to Richard for your musical arrangement brilliance.
On this day in Music - 15 Nov 1969 The Carpenters released their debut album, Offering, (later re-named as Ticket To Ride) on A&M Records. It was a commercial failure and produced only one minor hit single, a ballad version of The Beatles song 'Ticket to Ride'.
I was a choir singer And I love to hear a song that I can relate and feel how the voice sings Genius and articulate the Carpenters for me. Great artist @ all times Wish I could sing like her
This is a version she re-recorded about 4-5 years after her original recording. Her voice had matured and gotten even richer & more resonant, and she wanted to see what she could now do with this song...
Thank you. The graphics in this video are great! They go so beautifully with this amazing song and my beloved Carpenters. No one sings like Karen or arranges like Richard. (They're my all-time favorite group.)
