Carpuride have confirmed this morning that they are still trying to improve the BT transmission to your car stereo. That’s a deal breaker for me so will wait to see what they do. Great video though. Glad it worked for you.
I bought this because of dual blue tooth, for my 2008 campervan. But it won't connect to my radio, apparently, it will only connect if you've got a blue tooth streaming device already fitted in your vehicle. So the hype about it bringing dual blootooth to "any" vehicle of "any age" that's not so. I am returning mine and getting a previous, cheaper device. If they can update this via software update,it would be worth hanging onto, but it's not a definite,it's 6 months now since they said they were trying to update and still no update. It would have got 5 stars if it worked with my stereo, but now I'd give 3 stars. Not worth the price without being able to have functioning dual Bluetooth.
look at reviews on Amazon that dual Bluetooth doesn't work. Also the fact their is no mention about the issue by the company or a future fix and not firmware page on their website, wouldn't trust them.
The first person that starts making things like this as a modular system is going to make a lot of money. If I could have a 7" double din unit that deals with the audio and control side of things that I can plug something like this into and use it for the screen, wherever I want in the car, that would be immense. It would also mean I can upgrade the screen/DIN unit later on. I'm enjoying having android auto in the car, but it's frigging useless having a map that's down right by my gearstick. I'm currently figuring out what to run in my MKIV and so far the only solution I've come up with is to build something myself.
@@CRD90 I've got a MKIV, I'm trying to bodge something together that is fairly similar to android automotive so I can have the maps on a digital dash, then use the double din for music/whatever control. I'm currently working something out for my other project car, which is a 3uz IS200. The double DIN in that is WAY too low to be of any use for maps etc.
Please make a note of this comment! This model is the W103 Pro. Not the W103 as it says on the video title. The base model W103 does not have BT as an audio output option. It is wired audio out only.
Thanks, this was actually the non pro it was their previous iteration of Bluetooth which has some compatibility issues. The pro is the newer version with wider compatibility 👍
@@CRD90 Mine finally shipped today! I contacted Carpuride to see how long for it to arrive and they said 7 days. It is being shipped from China. I noticed Amazon is out of stock for the backup camera model; so, I'm not surprised that it is shipping from China.
It arrived today and I installed in less than a minute. It works fantastically!! My car doesnt have an aux nor Bluetooth so I am using FM transmitter in an older Cadillac. It sounds just as good as listening to a CD through the car radio. For even better sound I am using the bulit-in speaker and the FM transmitter together. This is a life saver. I didnt have to teardown my factory radio. For those ordering through the website, it comes from China and you will get nervous about delivery. I ordered on 4/3 and it didnt arrive until 4/25. It changed parcel companies twice. It started with 4X who handed it off to DHL who then handed it off to USPS. Tracking was provided by all three but doesnt update immediately.
Today I had an iSimple IS32 installed to add an aux input to the factory radio. Now I am sending the audio of the Carpuride to the iSimple IS32 aux. The sound is amazing! While transmitting through the FM sounded great, it sometimes became staticy. The aux has no static and is crystal clear.
@@CRD90 I tested with iPhone connected wireless to CarPlay and music was streamed from iPhone to car audio( bmw x6 e71), and from iPhone to carpuride for Google maps audio indication (regular CarPlay functioning). Result is nice, but carpuride was difficult to ear when music is streamed to card audio. Bluetooth streaming doesn’t run with my bmw. Question are: will be firmare update in the future? How it support?

I believe that's because it may not work with every single car, just like in my video it did not work on the first car. It will still have the feature though.
Thank you very much. Are Android apps have to support auto android to show in the screen? I have noticed we only see Teams, Spotify etc.. but not every app. Cheers
You're welcome glad you enjoyed it. Yes unfortunately only supported apps by android auto will show up. You cannot install apps from Google play store.
For me personally the 7" was better. This felt like it was blocking more of the windscreen. But if you've got a bigger car it may not be an issue, the 7" screen though was more than big enough to see everything clearly 👍
@@CRD90 thanks for the reply. So I bought the 7” model and your code worked perfectly. Also bought accessories and it worked on them too. Thanks and keep up the good work
I got mine a few days back. The "Transmit" icon now reads as "FM Transmit". It appears that they've removed the function to transmit to Bluetooth (unless I'm doing something wrong) 😕
I've got a demo of how the carplay function works on the previous carpuride video on my channel. Hopefully that helps 👍 And yep you should be able to play a movie via the usb stick input. (Although I haven't tried it myself)
Great review! I’m very tempted to get one of these and the dual Bluetooth feature is a must have. However I’m surprised that the carpuride website doesn’t seem to mention it for this model (or any model). I’ve tried WhatsApping them but they don’t seem to answer. Is there some specific version of the W103 I need to order to get this feature?
I’ve just found the answer to this question as carpuride did reply. They say that because it was found that the Bluetooth transmission didn’t work with some factory stereos (judging by some comments here that seems to be the case) they chose not to advertise the feature although it is still available. They don’t say which ones have been found to be incompatible.
Yep I was just about to reply back and say this too. Although I got it working on my second stereo I know others have had a few issues so it's a bit hit and miss apparently. You can always fall back on the aux and FM transmitter or perhaps ask them if it's refundable if the Bluetooth function doesn't work on your stereo.
@@CRD90 I have the 9" model and let me assure you that the Aux-out is absolutely horrible. Clicks, pops, etc. constantly. Surprising since the FM transmitter works very well. Unfortunately, the frequency response for FM stereo cuts out the highs and lows. Very disappointed.
Hey there I have a question about this system and I hope you van help me out. I got a system like this from aliexpress a year ago that is also linux based. I am able to get android auto to work on it with the audio and everything but I can't adjust the navigation audio volume. The music volume is fine but the navigation audio is so soft. If I want to change it then the system tells me that I have to use the volume buttons of my car. But the hole system does not have buttons and there are no settings in the head unit itself. Now is this my question: Does this system have a way to turn up the navigation volume? Or how does the navigation volume in like google maps sound? Is it the same as the music volume or lower then that?
I know what you mean! I have this issue with a head unit I've reviewed in the past. I can't remember 100% how it was on this but it definitely wasn't bad as what I've experienced on the stereo (the Google maps Audio was so low that you would turn the stereo up so high to to hear it). With this however it seemed okay, although I don't recall any seperate volume settings.
@@CRD90 Thank you! I am glad that you know what I am talking about! I did send carpuride a message about this and I am waiting for a response back. Because this is kinda a deal breaker for me. Going to deaf just hear the navigation volume while listening to music is not such great idea. ;)
It's pretty decent. I tested it out on the previous carpuride model here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NFmb1vKxno0.html You can also use an aux cable if that's easier
Hi, thanks for watching. It will be the same as any other generic backup camera install. They're pretty much universal. I showed the cables and what what needs to be wired to what (the hard part) The rest of it is pretty much finding a suitable route through your car and outside to the back and then connecting the wires to the areas I mentioned.
You can choose right hand drive function in settings, you can also choose which side of screen you have map/android auto.( or carplay) but don't expect dual Bluetooth function to work, you've got 50/50 chance of it working.
Potentially, this would allow you to (provided your car supports it) Connect via Bluetooth to your carpuride device > play music from your phone to your carpuride > have the audio come out through your car stereo speakers (through Bluetooth)
@@XxNANOSHIFTxX there is a new version that has just been released which has improved Bluetooth connectivity so it should work with more stereos. Where as this model can be hit and miss from what I've seen in the comments section and the fact it worked on only one of my 2 cars.
@@CRD90 oh i figured it didnt matter, i thought id just be able to pair my phone to it and then pair the device to the radio station like i do now with my transmitter
Hi mate I've got this but the dual Bluetooth doesn't seem to work it won't connect to the car and the phone I have to use the radio frequency to connect it, I've tried all the ways I can think of to connect it to the car aswel as my phone but it will only allow connection to my phone any ideas? Thanks
Hi Matt, thanks for watching. Does your car stereo naturally support Bluetooth music streaming or is it hands free only? This is the issue I faced with the first car I was in (the jaguar hand Bluetooth hands free only). When I switched to my car with the aftermarket stereo that worked fine. Although I did have to toggle a few settings to get it to work (support a2dp was switched on)
@@CRD90 I think it supports music streaming as I can play music on it from the Bluetooth on my phone. Its a landrover discovery sport with the meridian head unit that has the buttons on the side. The head unit finds the carpuride and on occasion the carpuride finds the car but my hone has to be switched off for them to find eacother. It's as though they cancel one another out. But even when my phone is off the carpuride and the head unit still won't connect.
Confirmed it with carpuride today it's 60hz, I hope that helps 😎 If you're going to purchase it, remember to use our discount code as it shows them our video sent you to them 👍
Yep I believe there is a way to switch that on in the settings. You can see an example of this from the images on their website. Look for any of the products with the backup camera listed and you'll see the grid lines.
I couldn't get it working in my first car, I put that down to it not supporting audio streaming. On my second car I turned on the a2dp settings shown in the video and it worked. This may have worked better as it was an aftermarket stereo to start with. When I was playing around with it, there was a random time where a phone number looked to be calling (I'm not sure if this is part of the pairing process) but I couldn't get this to happen again so not 100% sure if it's needed. I answered the phone call on my stereo and nothing happened. But after going and tweaking the settings on my stereo (a2dp) it just worked. Hope that helps?
My car doesn't have Bluetooth or aux. I use the fm transmitter option. It works fine, and I can mute, increase and decrease volume from my steering wheel. Those are the only features my steering wheel offers. I am happy they work with my Carpuride W103.
Hi Phillip, no follow up video planned as both my cars have android auto built in so this is not used on a daily basis. I tested it for a few weeks though before filming and did not have any issues with it. Hope that helps.
Was over $300 at amazon..but if u go through his link way cheaper..but u will have to wait a couple of weeks..with amazon u will get it quicker but pay more
I own it. Completely bummed that I can only connect wireless CarPlay through its WiFi and not BT. Interferes with my DsshCam since it requires to use its WiFi.
