Stephen King considers CARRIE a fairy tale, a modern-day retelling of the CINDERELLA story. But CINDERELLA didn't start as a cutesy Disney movie with goofy mice; it originated centuries ago as a dark story about a slave girl.
In this episode, David examines how King takes Cinderella back to her dark roots, as well as sets the template for the "young telekinetic girl" trope that continues in popularity to this day in movies and shows like Marvel's THE AVENGERS, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and STRANGER THINGS.
