Exactly what I was looking for. Used this knot for a 2.5 gallon bottle of water. The knot stays very tight around the bottle's neck almost as if the heavier the bottle, the tighter the knot gets. Thank you!

Cool knot. It looks like the start of a turks head. I tie them around the cup and through the handle of my coffee mug so everyone knows that is MY MUG. Keep up the great work.

Loved the video. I needed the knot to remove the battery out of my truck as it didn't have a handle and I couldn't get my hands under it. It worked great!

Lol I love it, I've developed a similar one from scratch for my thermos mug (google says it's tumbler? Who calls it that?) because I just hated having to leave it on the ground when practicing archery, this one seems way more useful for other stuff too though :)

I think a loop with a double fisherman tied onto itself and the bottle between the two knots is faster and more simple and easily removed less steps I have been using to carry bottles of water for years

Thanks for the lesson! Looks like if you leave it open after tying the knot you can then run slip knots for securing around belts, gear or objects, right?

I've tried this knot of and on for 3 years and never got it. I just use a hangman's knot and square knot. Hangman goes around the neck of the bottle, square knot ties to the bight of the hangman.

+mikerj13 its called a ¨Splash Guard" they are about 2-3$ and can be found at REI or your local camping store. An awesome accessory for a Nalgene or any large mouth water bottle. Especially when drinking in the car or while hiking! Never spills on you!

Why would you bother to designate the loops right, left and middle and then in the very next step refer to one them as the top loop and call the other the bottom??? #confusion

Too complicated. Cross the line, fold the end back and figure 8 onto itself. You now have a slide loop. Do the same with the other end so you have two slide loops. You can now carry one, or two bottles with the same line, and you use a short piece too.
