Planes: Racing, but with Planes Planes 2: Dusty stops a forest fire from consuming a national park lodge Planes 3 (Planned but Cancelled): Dusty goes on a journey across the universe and space. ....In general, the entire Cars Cinematic Universe always goes off the rails at some point. I for one, look forward to how Boats will inevitably go off the rails after its first "normal" boat racing film.
The most glaring thing about Cars 2 I felt was the upgrade in violence compared to the first one. Not only did they start using guns, but characters actually died this time.
In hindsight, the decision to make cars 2 a violent spy thriller with Mater as the main character is hilarious, especially how cars 3 almost completely ignores it and goes back to Lightning McQueen's racing career.
@@leonardedwards6013 Mater prevents some very tall twins being separated from each other by supreme leader Laraki (I really searched for native car model)
Just a reminder that Pixar has put guns in their movies before, for example: - In Ratatouille, a Random woman attempts to shoot her lover before her lover countered the gun to shoot in a different direction and of course making love with said lover. - In Up, moments before Muntz’s death, Muntz used a rifle to aim and shoot at Russell, Kevin, and Dug. - In the Incredibles 1, the movie literally starts with a car shootout.
@@Steveobrine_OfficialThis here Hood classic, but doesn't fit in the story. Now if it was as a spin-off with a spy plot like here, it would've really taken off
@pokemonmasterelliot Sorry, I should’ve rephrased that better. What I meant was that Cars 2, a spy thriller, was supposed to be a supposed to be a sequel to Cars, a kinda sports drama film. I apologize for the error.

The M16/AK thing is most likely an M4 Carbine, and I’m also surprised that the Lemons which are mainly Russian ghetto cars don’t use any Russian/Soviet guns, they all use US and UK guns
Yeah I think the most confusing part of it is that it was marketed as a sequel. You can't really just do different things and new things in a radical manner compared to the prequel, there usually has to be a balance of worth and comprehensibility in a sequel.
Isnt that what it really is though? Cars 2 is only called Cars 2 for marketing purposes, but in truth it's a Mater's Tall Tales story with a longer rutime
This is quite gritty for Pixar's second action packed film, but the scenes with them are fascinating to the point, where the cars using guns indicates that how it isn't strict for children (that, and the concept art for Cars on the Road shows Mater possibly using a flame gun) plus, the final act with Tony Trihull and his magnet has Finn losing his guns (although, he could have more attached) and Professor Z's monocle magnetized.
The actions works pretty well, it's a shame the film is hated and cars moves back into the child friendly area Imagine a finn mcmissile solo tv show on disney plus, could be jason bourn and tom clancy on the the world of cars
@@raidenstark315 That was I thought. Why?Just because a gun strapped to car?Just because Cars are about race?I really enjoy this second series. Also I fan of vehicular combat game like Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8.
Accurate. Marvel turned into littera goyslop after infinity war. Ofc they used time travel to fix up the past. Mfs couldnt come up with anything unique after infinity war.
Hey guys just a reminder not everything made for kids is supposed to be on the same level as Sesame Street; it isn't shocking that there's guns in a kids movie, this isn't a new or a rare concept and is present in other Disney / Pixar films such as The Incredibles, UP, and Ratatouille. MPAA ratings don't just move up to PG because of the presence of weapons, action, or violence.
@@roostergamerbubsy3dnah that is definitely inappropriate and terrifying I don't even have to explain why yes people are oversensitive but popee the performer is definitely inappropriate
The attention to detail with the guns is surprisingly good, from the Lemons having more archaic weapons like Maxims, to the Royal Guards carrying L85s. The only major errors are related to the Independence-class littoral combat ships, using a retractable RIM-166 as an offensive weapon instead of a Mk 110, along with the rotary cannon having a very slow rate of fire (but somehow Mater's M134s were fine). But this could be more of an artistic choice, along with how LCSs are designed to be modular
@@markandrew287 What is your opinion of the new character that introduced? Cruz Ramírez could be a great protagonist on her own. Maybe she will appear in the new series.
@@cristiamjulianayalape She has potential. I think it can be explored in the new series. She also already does appear in the new series I think so there's that.
@@markandrew287 Yeah, I'm pretty optimistic about her but I have the feeling that she is going to be more of a funny and wacky secondary character rather than a protagonist on her own.
@@somedankboi6093 honestly, it's kind of disappointing that a movie made (primarily) for younger audiences has more realistic rotary cannon sounds than a movie literally based around the concept of "haha planes go shooty shooty bang bang"
Honestly it kinda makes sense that theres guns in this movie, Hell in the first movie Mcqueen thought Shrieff was *shooting* at him. So that alone already set up the implication of guns being in the Cars universe (Or maybe im thinking too deep)
To be fair, think about anything in the Cars universe for a few minutes, it always turns out to be pretty morbid or questionable. Such as Mater living in a junkyard, how cars "reproduce," the fact that Catholicism exists with proof of a pope, and many other strange things.
If this was marketed as a spin-off or at least a standalone Mater's movie instead of sequel of the first Cars movie, this might would've been received way better by people. Unironically, out of all cars movies this one is my favorite.
what makes it cooler, these guns are somewhat "realistic", you can see mcmissile chambering a round, the guns ejecting shells, even the rocket launcher is recoiless
@@killerkitten7534Turning Red is probably Pixar’s cringiest movie ever made, no joke. It’s literally about a teenage girl and her problems who is about to reach puberty, and the puberty jokes were just awful.
I love Cars 2, and I loved it as a Kid too. I don't know why people think that guns in it is somehow strange for a kids movie. I thought the gun action and explosions were AWESOME!
I wonder, are hidden guns that pop out vs guns always out the equivalent to concealed carry vs open carry, like do you need a license to have guns built into your frame?
When I was younger, I couldn’t believe that they put guns and all that in a Disney movie. But now I realize that it’s just part of the action, and part of what makes this movie cool.
Seeing them all compiled together like this I realize Mater is the only one with his weaponry in a random piece of body panelling (the space behind his headlights) rather than attached to his wheel or to his chassis. Although, I will say Mater seems to have a joint or rotation point between his cabin and his bed so a gun between the wheel wells wouldn't keep straight like it does on the unibody vehicles
Cars 2 is actually my favorite in the series, I prefered the focus on the spy plotline compared to the racing tournament, like not all cars are made to be fast, some can shoot guns and fly with parachutes, and others just like to lend a helping winch
Really would have loved if Pixar did more action spin offs like this with the rest of the Cars franchise, it's an interesting premise that was decently executed in this movie.
The fact that this movie balanced action and it’s G rating without making cheezy fight scenes or a boring storyline with MATER of all characters is a victory in itself. BUT the fact that majority of the gun nerds in this comment section also confirm that most of the guns are accurate to the characters wielding them is even more a jaw dropping achievement 😂
1:11 I like how the table in this scene provides actual cover from the gunfire, instead of blocking bullets like they usually do in action movies. Also, how come they did they manage to install all those high-tech gadgets onto Mater and not have even on speck of rust removed from his body?
Had mater lowered his aim just a little bit, he would have absolutely shredded them alive. [then again the recoil from two automatic gatling guns would make it impossible]
@@headwreak1768to be fair though, mater (im assuming) has that cartoon country strength so I wouldn't doubt that mater could handle two miniguns like its nothing.
1:06 why does a kids movie about sentinent cars have more accurate rotary gun sound effects than most Hollywood war and action movies lmao Iron Man, Avengers… even Top Gun: Maverick had the Vulcan canon sound like a .50 cal!
You know it actually surprised me quite a lot that those ship characters are based off of actual warships in the US navy which I didn't even know was a thing, it always caught my attention how weirdly designed they look 😂
@@blu_j_1977it's actually based on a stealth ship. So they didn't just take random cool looking irl ship but a stealth one as well so it could be in any place.
If you read 'the art of Cars 2' book, John L explains why Cars 2 went down this story route. I commend him for that. Imagine if all the James Bond films were the same - it's a sequel.....with a different storyline 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How the fuck do they aim? How the fuck do they reload? What "kills" a car? One of the cars in this movie has their eyes in their headlights and you can see inside and it's basically just normal there's nothing inside other than seats a steering wheel a rear view mirror and stuff. At what point does the biological part end and the mechanical parts start? One car in cars 1 has his jaw as his bumper but his bumper would fall off sometimes. What is that grey stuff in their windows? When a car dies the organic matter just disappears (or decomposes) if you watch one of the shorts there's a car graveyard and it has a bunch of dead cars but they won't have any organic parts. Do they need food? They use the same calender years as we do and cars in he 1910s are model ts and stuff. What came before those cars? I NEED ANSWERS TO THE MOVIE THAT ONLY EXISTS TO SELL TOYS
i think I have a rough estimation on how these cars work, In the second film we see cars EAT and DRINK so Yes, they eat and drink and roughly they do use our same calendars, To *KILL* A car aim for the fuel block and engine, which seems where they're vital organs are. The stomach also seems to be the fuel compartment, since there's many cars they're anatomy will be very different, and idk what came before cars, that's all I know.
@@fanndyeffendy2672now that this has been answered, as a bit of a biologist myself, I need to understand how cars evolved in this universe or were constructed.
If you look around you'd see animals AS cars or planes I believe they started as animal cars and evolved once the first cars were built it was only a matter of time until they reach our tech
