Carver cascade rapide GE . removing unit from caravan. Using heat to help soften the mastic to take water heat out of caravan without doing any damage to side panel of the van. music by blue mink good morning freedom.
yes you just give it a good tug or wobble it sideways a bit. it's just a big O-ring on the burner end that is keeping it on. when you put it back together you can smear a tiny bit of vase line on the large O-ring to help tank slide onto it without it twisting the o-ring..
yes the big o ring. while its down fo the element gasket as well. easy job to do once the tank is out. some caravans you can get tank out without taking the outside burner off. mine had to be taken from outside. its not hard job at all.
yes that would be the big O-Ring. when you take it apart you need to put a new o-ring on the other end too. . if you dont have room to pull it apart inside the van then take it all out in one go from outside. use air dryer on hot to make the sealant go very soft then pull it out. i needed to use heat gun as outside air temp was not too warm at the time.... using hot air gun the mastic between unit and van goes nice and soft allowing the whole thing to come out... re-seal with new mastic when putting back in.. job done.. oh and test the unit outside before putting back in for no leaks..
Hi, does the tank just pull straight off once you have undone the nut and removed spacers and seals etc? Mine is not coming off and I am reluctant to pull too hard in case I break it! Thanks
yes once you have the centre nut spacers washers etc off you can then pull the tank off. there is a huge O-ring that fits on the burner housing that the tank goes over to fit to burner housing, it does take a good bit to pull it off and takes a bit of pressure to put it back on. i used a drop of fairey liquid on the seal/0-ring when putting it back on.
