I Hand Carved 8 Gallons of #epoxy Resin and Wood into a one of a kind sculpture. I used various power tools to make this #woodcarving of a sea turtle. This was one of the most challenging sculptures to date with many setbacks. Let me know what you guys think! #resin

Incredibly expensive, incredible consumption of patience and energy, incredibly beautiful. Almost everyone I know would give up halfway through. And that's what makes your videos irresistible. Bring the result to a perfect end. One of the things I admire about you is that you show people the mistakes in your work. Your videos are truly unique, Blake.

Pretty, but all I see is plastic waste. More tiny particles to eventually end up inside all of us. So many mediums to use and everyone and their brother has to jump on the plastic bandwagon.

VERY TRUE! Far too many artists want to appear as if they are above mistakes, inhuman Gods of their crafts. It not only makes the videos boring, but discouraging if you use them for inspiration. You feel like, ill never be that good. Even if i practice a 100 years. But if you see mistakes AND it turns out fantastic, it makes you feel like, shit...maybe i CAN over come my mistakes and win if i keep trying!

A trick to keeping the fridge cool enough during the curing process is to fill the refrigerator with ice as much as possible. This will increase the thermal capacity and act as a thermal buffer. I'm not sure how much heat that epoxy produces, but I know it takes a lot of heat to melt ice.

I know this is an out there question. But have you considered, using either vaccume or pressure to adjust the temp while curing. I know you use a freezer to cool it, but. If you were to pressurize the freezer (may require a custom build freezer. You should be able to use a normal freezer coils and pump. Then place it into a sealed box.) Then either pressurize or pull a vaccume to test the cure processes. I think pressure may help more at this stage. The advantages will be that you can fill gaps easier when pouring, and if it gets too hot you can release some pressure to bleed off heat. You could also use a fan inside the freezer to equalize the temp and reduce hot spots. (A similar concept to a convection oven.) I really like your sculptures, and would love to see more successes.
