I'm a wood carver, but this is how you carve wood!!! It's not the subject, but where you carve wood that counts! Swedish Fire log, nice moderate 25 to 30 deg temperature, a best friend, and either a cup of hot tea, coffee or cocoa!... Oh and your carving stuff!!!

Another wonderfully detailed masterpiece completed Mike, thank you for taking us along! Like so many artists you have a keen eye for detail, along with the patience and skillset to take a blank canvas of many materials and bring them all to such incredible lifelike art...thank you for sharing your talent with us Mike. I am so far behind the curve in getting started in wood carving, which for me would be mostly into furniture I've made or will make, but know the skill takes time to master and I'll be closer to mastering it, the sooner I get started...I'm sure we both agree with that. Thanks, Claire! Those are oil pencils. They work really good on a textured surface to give a dry brush effect over the fur texture.
