The irony is that there are probably more professionally trained and talented Marble sculptures then there ever were in rennisance times. It's just the people who can't outweigh them.
@@finnmacdiarmid3250 Isso é um fato mas a verdadeira arte sempre esteve acima da capacidade artística de sua época. Logo o impacto dos renascentistas em esculturas ainda é insuperável
Its because their whole Live was just doing that, and people provided those materials to them at a cheapers cost Try getting fucking marble and dedicate your whole life to it with 0 money lol, the talent is probably better now, more people, more good people and wider acess to it. Because look at clay artists, they are at that renaissance level, and videogame 3d artists too because they study those exact guys
I once saw a sculptor making a beautiful statue. But when the statue was almost finished, right under the lip of the statue it broke due to a hammer blow. Although the expression on his face looked very upset, he was patiently unemotional. And he had to repeat the work from the beginning. What made me respect him so much was how he could be so patient. Even though he had gone to great lengths and took a long time for the job.
I’m sure it’s a lot more difficult in sculpting from a single piece of stone but… typically when I make anything I start with the face and head because I realize that is where peoples eyes will go first typically making it the most important…. Hardest part first just makes sense so you’re not wasting time on getting easier stuff done..
@@newtybot I'm sure due to the weight and certain other factors the arms weren't feasible to sculpt. Most that did have arms had them closer to the body and joined to the body to give the limb some stability
@@elcatrinc1996 Granite is a natural stone that is resistant to breaking and chipping. It is not brittle or fragile, and can withstand the weight of heavy objects.
@@j_jones_ Yes they do know. Its called chisels. Enslavement. Forced Labor. And a long ass time The pyramids didn't simply come out between day and night, it tooks years and years to make them, if not full blown centuries
I feel like the some of smoothness might have been erosion. Also I read somewhere the statues used to be colored but people (I think the British) removed the color. They also really liked like breaking off the junk area.
@@noname-kx4cu they were colored and no one removed color al least from most states they just weren't recolored after paint faded away and people assumed that they supposed to be colorless.
@@JensVanDeAardetheyre talking about how conspiracy theorists claim that ancient people were unable to create sculptors without any kind of modern equipment so it was aliens that made them but in this video, the man is seen using a hammer and chisel, which is something you can make
@@aspenisthebest this guy probably made this I'm about a day to a week, maybe half a month. He's one guy. There were alot of guys and decades making those pyramids you know that right ?
And then look at the finished product of those smooth sculptures on museums, that the skin looks really soft. Imagine how much time they spent on making it.
"Why don't we do this anymore" Because we live in the modern world, these pieces take months to make, and unfortunately everybody has to work during that time to survive. For long hours, with little pay, sculpturers that could rival the masters are stifled, nobody has the time anymore to fully commit everything to creative pursuits like this.
Oh yes. People that lived hundreds and thousands of years ago had more free time. All the ancient masters were rich, lived well, and were patronized by even richer people.
Agreed…. Not to mention the fact we have machines now that can mass produce. AI and technology will eventually make art nothing short of a personal enjoyment activity that holds no value at all.
Conspiracy theorists in 2000 years be like "the face was so perfect and smooth we know they had to use alien technology, because there's no way they could be that accurate with primitive tools"
Es increíble ver que cin las herramientas y todas las ventajas tecnológicas de hoy en día,no igualan ni de cerca a los escultores renacentistas y anteriores.
Not really. Those Greek statues are almost impossible to recreate because no one has the financial capability to spend a huge chunk of their life working on one project. It’s simply unfeasible.
@@Suusleepy It is helpful to them because I am just not impressed by their mediocre stuffs. That makes them want to try harder for better stuffs. @@Suusleepy It literally is mediocre. You do realize that mediocre doesn't mean bad, right? It means its average. Average doesnt mean bad. You and I are average, too.
Today there are probably more trained and talented marble sculptures available than during the renaissance or any other time, however due to the dominance of modern architecture at universities we don’t see marble sculptures that often today anymore.
Back in the day people weren't as "busy" as today. Expending 14 hours marbling under the sky sounds like an angelic way to spend your lifetime. Now we have dumb short videos.
@@fueradelmetatrue but the comparison seems a little weird. Why compare sculptors from the past to video shorts? Whats the correlation? We still have people who do practical art and build useful things all day.
If I'd really like to get into this, I think I need to see more mistakes and struggles. I feel so inspired that I underestimate the learning process ahead.
I love that there's tragic music over this as if this is a sad video about a beautiful marble slab violently having it's identity carved away into a façade that doesn't represent who it really is, the image of man forced upon it 😔
I feel an alien society would truly appreciate the skill with which many of our marble sculptures were made. There'd be a balance of respect I imagine.
