I think I speak for everyone when I say these are the videos we want. Shows the work, the process, and the end without music or anything to distract from the *tink*tink*tink* sound. Love it dude! Keep makin these, there’s definitely an audience for em!
Please do more of these long form! I know they'll be more effort, but they're beautiful, and peaceful. It's really fascinating seeing the stone become something else
This is the good side of RU-vid. Just watching someone with a skill show an impressive demonstration. No influencers trying to gain clout, vlogging or pushing greedy ads and sponsors. Just good clean art.
Stonemasonry and blacksmithing are two things I never get tired of looking at. The amount of focus, attention to detail and dedication is just admirable.
@@RemnantDiscipleLazzaro-Rev1217 Sigh...Why do you think he is recording with his shirt off? Dude is a work of art. I got around with a shirt off at his age looking good, but not like this bloke! Let him show off and let people appreciate it And if he is offended by people commenting on his physique, he could wear a shirt He is fantastic at his craft, and a fair unit to boot👍
Free art history lesson here, @RemnantDiscipleLazzaro-Rev1217 Many roman and greek classical sculptors idealized the human form. If you think @topaventador4064 's interpretation is carnal what would you make of the nudes? Attractive and sexual human forms have been subjects of sculpture since its inception. See for reference: venus of hohle fels, venus of willendorf, venus of dolni vestonice, and of course, venus de milo. You're the one demeaning sculpture by emptying its history and trying to sanitize it! Art captures the whole human experience -- leaving sex or physicality out of it is ... sigh That said, I do see your point -- we don't look at a statue or cathedral and comment on the attractiveness of the sculptors, and it would be ridiculous to reduce their work to one's subjective opinion on the attractiveness of the artist's body. However, this commentary should have some place here because, Surprise! I'm providing you with another free art lesson: This RU-vid video, this medium intentionally employed and deployed with staging, editing, camera work, etc. is itself an art work. The artist (the sculptor) is also the subject -- it's his hands carving it, his body heaving it, his brow concentrating, etc. Except that it's a video, he is a living sculpture, if you will. A body which bears a resemblance to what one might see in classical greek or roman statuary. The commentary from @topaventador4064 is entirely fair play, much like one could comment on the rendering of the hair or fabric of classical sculpture.
What a talent! One error could ruin a piece. To see a young person perfect this art is very uplifting. I enjoy watching the blows, chisels used and the technique, but I find myself holding my breath when he breaks away large cunks at a time.
I've been watching Charlie on Instagram and he's incredible with stone and marble. I'm absolutely blown away by how beautiful his work is. The attention to detail and the perfection of the sculpting is something you'd see from someone doing stone work for 30 years. Nice job keep up the awesome work.
And we have Decades of documentaries telling us that only Ancient Aliens could do such precise work with lost technology that we could not possibly duplicate today
Well stated, i would only differ in using the word 'aliens' and i call them something like IMBETs _[imaginary matter-based extra-terrestrials]_ @@amelica5502because they only exist in science fiction and the true aliens to the true definition of the word _[foreigners, stranger from another land],_ are invading our borders in Europe and Far West America and Canada etc. The town he is in looks like my parents town from Italy.
This is fascinating to see this block turn into the carved beauty it is at the end. You, Charlie, will never be replaced with AI or machinery. Thanks for sharing your artistry with us~
I love ancient stonework and to see someone actually do it is fascinating. I could watch this all day, it's very relaxing. Thank you for the videos. Cheers
I have to say this man literally has the most attractive build ever, godDAYUM… I mean, his artwork is amazing, but I’m looking at a different kind of artwork-😭😍
Limestone just from quarry tends to be relatively soft and it hardens over time in the air. But of course it's still stone. He really has excellent understanding how the material behaves and which action with those simple tools will give desired result.
That reveal at the seven minute mark...SIMPLY AMAZING. I would truly love to try my hand at stone carving, but my hands are already shot and the vibration would be incredibly painful...so I'll just enjoy watching your work.
Yeah to imagine it's been there for billions of years. I often feel we should be careful with that stuff and not make expensive kitchen table tops and such.
@@bigbattenbergMeanwhile a company like mine throws out big pieces of marble without ever turning them into something. Marble is not like granite, which almost regrows over millions of years you could say. There is a blueish marble coming from the italian Alps called pallisandro bluette and most of it gets wasted for throwaway tombstones and Kitchen tops...
@@sapiensfromterra5103 i was just watching a video about a Japanese stone mason building a 'Samurai wall' in Dallas, Texas. The technique involves fitting every stone pretty much as it comes and the right stones are selected by the stone mason. In this case the stones were already there and some had to be cut, which the Japanese mason found a terrible waste. Watching and learning from Japanese culture and tradition makes one realize how terribly wasteful modern life is in every aspect, only in our personal lives we can make different choices.
Amazing work,so enjoyable to watch cratsman at work..but i gotta say the variety of high quality tools is astounding.Looks like high tensile steel, titanium or carbide toothed inserts and multiple varieties of shock absorbant round mallets. Wish he did a video explaining and showing all the tools he uses.
What’s really impressive and crazy to me is how you get every step perfect, even if it’s going to be completely chiseled away in the next step. It does make sense though, because each step is a reference for the next step and a sloppy first step will cascade into an absolute mess at the end. It just seems crazy to chisel a perfectly flat and square face only to smash it all away later. That’s just the name of the game though, no one ever said stonework would be easy! Haha
One of the excursions on our trip to northern Italy was a marble quarry. Where Michelangelo mined the marble for his David, the Pieta..you would like it, I like your video..and watching your work..thanks Charlie
this is crazy!I was just at a 16th century castle In Portugal last week and was in complete awe of the carvings. And been wondering if anyone can or does this anymore and I stumble upon you. So fukin cool and I’m really impressed by your work. Thanks for sharing…
Loved the precision and rhythmic tapping. Amazing creation. I wish you had more long form videos with this simplicity (I may be the minority, but feel free to wear a shirt if it makes you more comfortable. I'm here for your craftsmanship)
This is so impressive!! Good old craftsmanship, nothing is more impressive. Oh, and the beautiful surroundings and views make this video extra enjoyable to watch.🤩
You are a true artisan you make that look so easy! The skill and gift you have is very amazing. I say that from my people that are true artisans building “The Parthenon”.
How do you only have 5k subs? Your the frigging man. I'm sure others can do this but your the first channel I've ever seen doing it with style and some grace. Good stuff man.
Charlie im a blacksmith, id be really interested in learning more about the chisels, slicks, etc that you use? can you do a video on them or suggest some sources where we can learn more about them? thank you for sharing your art sir.
Consider ancient Rome and the amount of marble used. These carving sounds would’ve been a constant in the Roman Forum where temples, monuments, shrines and government buildings were clustered. “There’s nothing new under the sun,” including urban noise pollution.
during this video, hundred of women had to run to the bathroom, some of them later found themselves to be pregnant, an equal number of men questioned their orientation, and a marble stone was carved.
I have been looking forward to a longer video of your craft, but I would like to provide some constructive feedback which may not be popular... I think you have some incredible skill and there is definitely a place for you on RU-vid, but I couldn't watch too much of this video at all. Somone else mentioned the moving camera, which is regularly out of focus, is very distracting. There was more focus in the couple of minutes that I could watch focusing on you shirtless than on your work. Like I said, you have a good opportunity with your content but I wouldn't want you to sacrifice your potential for vanity. I mean no disrespect with my comment, I just want you to have the best outcome from your recent boost on Facebook as a credible craftsman 👍
Dear Mr. Gee. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Congratulations for having all those skills. To me this is almost unreal. Watching you drawing straight lines without a ruler respectively help is already mind boggling for me. It's a fantastic cooperation between precision, artwork, Imagination and power. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Reminds me of the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: Under a spreading chestnut tree, the villiage black-smith stands. A mighty man is he, with large and sinewy hands. The muscles of his brawny arms are strong as iron bands. ... This same result of such strenuous work and exercise is plain to see in this young craftsman. Astounding skill for only 20 years old! Personally, I would not be able to handle such a physical job. I would see it as "tedious". My "exercise" comes from pressing keys on a computer keyboard. As a sedentary Programmer, and Copy-writer.
I have always wanted to see this done. Beautiful! Think of the many statues carved so delicatly. One I saw was a beautiful woman with a lace shroud covering the face shear enough that you could see the face. I the other one of a fisherman holding up a large drape of a fishing net. Im going to watch more of your work, beautiful!!!
Charlie, have you ever thought of Michelangelo's David? Why waste your talent on carving that when you can restart the reinascance all by yourself.......
I love your work and your channel, especially these videos without music, just the angelical sound of your craft and the godly vision of your achievement. Thank you
So refreshing to see no tattoos on the real man, the trolls more attention to his art form done himself, it's a sign of confidence and that's what one needs to chop a block of sandstone like that!!
Beautiful work! I have heard the importance of wearing face masks as protection from the inhalable dust while breaking and carving stones. Is it safe for you to do the carvings without a mask?
But there's no way people did this 500, 1000, or 2000 years ago with just simple tools hahaha. They had to have diamond-tipped chisels and laser technology right? I think we don't give humans enough credit, especially humans that lived long before us. Great work Charlie.
I love how people say humans couldn't have built the pyramids, I think they mostly attribute their own lack of skill and think nobody else could, but watching this, clearly shows that skill and passion can make anything
Thumbs up... i wish i could thumb that up more than once. What you stated is what i tell people also, the more stupid society becomes by deliberate design of the rulers the easier and easier it becomes to convince mediocre intelligence people of even more ridiculous and preposterous reasons to how the Pyramids and other megalith structures were built/constructed. Look up a documentary called "Ancient Aliens Debunked" by Chris White, it also touches on how the methods used to build the pyramids and other megalithic structures, that engineering and construction know how has been lost, maybe one day it will be learned or found again.
Yeah people are dumb and can’t think logically lol….I do believe Humans made the Pyramids, what I don’t believe is the Academic timeline and how old mainstream scientists say they are. I believe that there was a far greater “more advanced” civilization (as in more advanced than the Egyptians/Greeks/Sumerians, not more than us technologically) that use to span the world before “recorded” history or what the mainstream Archaeological record tells us.
