CNC Stone Fabricator? Wow, I didn’t know such a vocation existed! A common excuse you’ll hear from the architectural world is that there are no more traditional craftsmen or stone masons who can do such things anymore. But CNC? I thought about that!!

There is no way the pyramids were built by people using simple tools, no lasers nothing, that's precisely. Stop conflating that to stone masonry of the post medieval period

@@charlie.gee__Mate have you thought about doing an online course? Explaining what materials you use, tools for specific jobs, lime mortar mix ratio ect. That windowseal repair was great, I need to repair bay windows due to the lack of drainage window seal cracked and flaking, ruined all the patterns at the top of the pilars and the moulds in the centre and bottom.

I've walked past the main cathedral in my city (St Paul's in Melbourne) many times in my life, but it was only after seeing this channel that I paused to look at and admire the stonemasons' work.
Real men recognize skill and talent mate. U have mastered ur craft at a young age. Can just imagine the final product you will be producing in 20 yrs time. Respect mate. 👊
Beautiful work Charlie mate. I work at Arbroath Abbey in Scotland and we don’t have much of this highly detailed work to reproduce as it was built in 1178, and ransacked by Henry VIII and Cromwell during the Protestant reformation, so very little is left, in the whole building is unroofed. Would love an opportunity to hew some stone like this. Keep up the good work mate, you’re only a youngster and you’re already a better stonemason/cutter than I am. Fabulous stuff.

I said before I had a great apprenticeship in plastering. Fibre, solid in situ renovation lath and lime work. That's my talent. Everybody as a gift, just you need to find it and nurtured. Kudos to you chas. Your fucking good. May you get even better. Can't change excellence. My upmost respect 👍👍👍👍

It's gorgeous, well done! I'm sure you know, and it may be the limitation of the stone you are using but the original has much deeper relief under the leaf-tips and folds. Keep going, it's such a lovely craft!
Charlie... i am well late to your channel mate, but what you do is absolutely fucking class! As an architect/designer it is great to see someone with proper craft on the tools. Too many of the young team running around sites with a paslode thinking they know how to build and create. Keep it up man.

When I watch these videos I see deep into the past. It blows my mind how cathedrals were done without tape measures. They understood that nature of building. No wonder the guilds held their secrets tight. So happy to see this craft in the hands of a passionate artist
This reminds me of a line from DaVinci's journal where he's complaining about the state of Micheal Angelo's apartment because there we're pieces of stone and stone dust everywhere.
Weirdly enough I wonder what it would look like if you made a plaster cast of your hands now and then after 20-30 years made another one to see the changes your hands take while doing stonework.

Today you can carve stone with lasers. But I think that the human touch, effort and skill will never go extinct. Being rich in the future will mean you can afford things made by human hands.
