Camp Farm in Maryport is a mixed arable and pastoral farm holding owned by Cultura Trust and tenanted to local farmers. Raise Cumbria worked closely with the trust to design a scheme that included a mix of native, broad-leaved trees, shelterbelts of scrub planting to bolster hedgerows, and sweet chestnut and hazel coppice with standards.
Volunteers from local schools and the community helped to plant 2,050 trees, creating 1.4 hectares of woodland. The project will enhance wildlife, engage and educate the local community, contribute to net zero and create employment through future woodworking and timber opportunities.
We are interested in hearing from landowners who might want to talk about transforming their land with woodland creation, please get in touch through our website: www.raisecumbria.co.uk/contac...
