Pauline Blair owns a working upland sheep farm in Pardshaw near Cockermouth, that she farms using traditional methods, working with nature.
Pauline approached Raise Cumbria as she was interested in restoring historic hedgerows on the land to create shelter for her flock of Herdwick sheep. Raise foresters worked closely with Pauline to design the planting of the hedgerows, field trees and a shelterbelt, to create a field landscape that works better for people, animals and the environment.
Volunteers from the National School of Forestry at the University of Cumbria and 1st Cockermouth Scouts engaged with the project, helping to plant 4,928 trees, creating 1.83 hectares of woodland.
We are interested in hearing from landowners who might want to talk about transforming their land with woodland creation, please get in touch through our website: www.raisecumbria.co.uk/contac...
