based on this experience I wouldnt buy this device. But this is not a thorough review - if i get my hands on another one i will post an update Melvv - / itsmelvv LE SUPER HOMARD - smarturl.it/PomegranateTreeEP
This is what we would call a real world test for the average consumer. What I like about Tech Reviews from Casey is they are closer to what people might experience vs more polished tech Reviews. Poor Sam btw... 😭😭😭
I actually also like Casey but why do people just kiss the guys ass, you don't really have anything other to say than trying to blend in with 10000 other people ? lol :D This was entertaining but I bet with someone else doing the "review" it would not have ended in the river..
Casey has flown a SHIT ton of different drones and can mark phenomenal footage while boosted boarding. He can fly a drone even when he plays stupid and Sam was there.
Really appreciate the drone reviews because I'm going to buy one for my daughters upcoming wedding this fall and this helps. On the side, love the fish-tails on the bike dude... :)
sorry to not see the footage - but on the other hand... I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this. I think if you are going to compare alternatives, probably best to test one slightly cheaper than DJI as that would be the only reason not to get DJI these days! Thanks for the honest review :)
When companies send Casey drones/other tech products they're actually risking a lot because if it's a bad product Casey's gonna say so and their reputation will be damaged.
So you are saying flying over ground (and possibly over people) is safer than flying over water with no unexpected obstacles? Get your logic together buddy
I would concur. Always read the instruction manual before operating an expensive piece of technology, _NOT_ after you've crashed it into a river! Just sayin'.
This happens to DJI drones too. Two days ago I was 1m 24s into a flight at 395' directly overhead when it lost connection, stopped recording video, and ended its flight recorder log - then gravity took over. It "gently" touched down at terminal velocity about 20' away, fortunately in a garden that was somewhat soft. Now it is on its way back to them to see if they are going to own up to the malfunction. This was a Mavic Pro that had fewer than 3 hours total flight time and not a scratch on it.
I want to see a mini series within the series of people eating the Instant Regret chocolate here on 368 and Dan analyzing their reactions. That choc is hilarious.
Drone should still not just plunge/crash though... That is some odd software issue. IF a drone looses connectivity, hoover or return to launch point... not plummet. He was lucky he was over water.
I feel kinda bad for them, they probably made it with passion and it would not be perfect in such an early stage. But it doesn't make sense for the costumer to spend money on it
I agree. Considering what happened to it, it should be called H2O instead of O2. There would be an alternative, but as we can see "Instant regret" is already taken :/
Exactly, they should personally test whatever product they actually send to Casey, he is gonna give an honest opinion so you better make sure it works properly.
That new drone looks good, but seriously... crashed it first flight! Definitely a terrible tech review :-D Also... Hi to all you notification junkies :)
the market is fairly large now. the issue with new companies just starting out now is exactly what is wrong with the drone he tried to test, the flight control software isn't polished like DJI, they don't have the #'s of drones out in the wild like DJI does and they have no tried and true testing on their platform like DJI does. Each model drone they come out with is better than the last and improvements are always being made. As a new startup drone company you'd have to sell stuff at a loss to get units out in peoples hands to test and log the hours needed to fully polish your software.
The Xiaomi Mi 4K can compete with the Phantom at half the price (without obstacle avoidance) but there isn't a single competitor out there for the Mavic.
Can you review the PowerVision Powerray underwater drone. I've never really seen something like this before and I can't see much online about it and I'd like to see to see your opinion of it.
Wow, not the greatest drone he’s ever received! In the professional creative space reliability is so huge. That’s why we use the DJI phantom 4 for all of our client shoots. Can’t risk using an unreliable drone when someone is paying for your time and your work.
Casey me and my wife have watched you for a few years now and you are awesome. What a breath of fresh air Dan is we love his sense of humour and how you two interact. Thanks for committing to a daily VLOG. love you dude.
I can believe you drink your juice right next to the restaurant I work at hope you remember me from when me little cousin wanted a pic with you on Monday
i've been saving up for a DJI since november, Now i want the newest mavic pro i think it is, so that's even more $$ now. But hopefully another month or 2 ill have the drone i NEED, Im a groundskeeper at a state park here in WV and all i've been wanting to do is fly ALL OVER the entire area and try to make a beautiful video/compilation because its not just the park, there's a huge river along beside/around the park and it'd make for an amazing video + viewing experience. And maybe if it happens somehow you'll see the video and hopefully say it was good. At least that's all i can hope for. Also loved the vid, I love the style of your videos and hopefully mine can be as good as yours someday. My 1/8 scale AWD nitro buggy is my full time hobby tho, well until it broke a piston the other day and only way to fix is for a new motor because the buggy has been discontinued for about 10 yrs now and Ebay doesn't even have my parts. but on another note. Have a Wonderful Day to Whomever reads this and May your Luck be Better than mine in your Adventures.
This is probably already been said, but more to the point; why didn't the test drone automatically return to home once it lost signal?? major critical software error!! I wonder if it even had GPS lock?
Perhaps it was trying to RTH. If there was some sort of massive interference with the compass (lots of metal, etc.), it may have gone in a direction other than what it thought it was doing.
Couldn't tell for sure, but was that table that you took off from made of metal? That can wreak havoc on some drones. It messes up the compass. Just a thought.
Why a tech company would give their new product to a notoriously bad drone pilot for him to review in one of the most built up in cities in the world amazes me...
I took my mavic pro with me to Hawaii a couple of months ago... I was surprised by how many places I could fly it. Only a few places was I disappointed I couldn’t fly it.
haven't you plan to review that orange drone with ability to dip into & take off of water, maybe try to cut power in the mid air let it plunge the water...
Just came home after losing my Dji Spark in a water incident and felt like I needed to watch something to calm down before going to bed. This review somehow made me feel better! Thanks!
God bless it finally, thank you, Ive been scrolling through hundreds of comments to find out where that shirt was from. Looks like its out of stock tho
Cameron Scholz yeah man! The only reason I know is because my friend is the store manager there so it’s literally the only play I shop at. They have a lot of really cool similar shirts also.
My drone GDU 02 was defective, the photos and images are out of focus. I have already contacted Banggood and also GDU, unfortunately so far I have not found any solution to my problem. Can you tell where I can buy the camera and gimbal kit?
