Sadly, RU-vid would rather have the advertisers happy and the community upset! That’s why they got 10million dislikes and that’s why the community hates the video. Nothing to do with the edit, everything to do with the motive.
Why can’t they make a separate video at a different time that highlights what RU-vid has to offer to advertisers instead of using a beloved yearly recap that highlights positive and negative events that occurred with creators in RU-vid? They can hire Hollywood stars and TV host for their commercial to promote RU-vid and leave Rewind for the creators at the end of the year.

Sorry Casey, your wrong here..Rewind 2018 is finally the audience and producers giving RU-vid a crystal clear message how dumb and lost they are now. For many on this platform 2018 was masses of demonotizations, age-restrictions and banned channels. This also spooked the viewers. Yet that was neatly ignored in Rewind. RU-vid have successfully produced the most hated video on the site. Quite an achievement indeed, and maybe an indicator this platform is getting past it's used by date.

We all know that RU-vid hates PewDiePie and the charity that Felix did happened 1 week ago, and Rewind 2018 was probably finished weeks before that (Don't take me wrong I'm not defending RU-vid)
Put this into perspective, Justin Beiber's "Baby" was the most disliked video of all time, having accumulated millions of dislikes over 8 years. Rewind had more that that video in a WEEK.
They over used Fortnite, back in 2012 Minecraft was a boom and only appears a few seconds in the 2012 Rewind. I think that is why everyone hates Fortnite right now.

The production quality wasn’t the issue. The video had no story. It had no point. Hopefully next year they spend more time writing a story to talk about 2019 and less time coordinating 100 creators

How is it inclusive if they don't involve Pewdiepie vs T series, Logan Paul vs KSI, Shane Dawson's series on Jake Paul.. Is it because they included ASMR? RU-vid is in a hard place. I'm not one to feel bad for corporations but they're in a hard place. RU-vid simply isn't profitable for Google. RU-vid is still an experiment for Google. RU-vid doesn't purposefully "turn their back" on creators, they're hand is forced by advertisers. You won't believe how unlikely it is for this platform to exist; how anyone can upload unlimited amount of content for free and have it delivered by a fast CDN and even make money from it. So it's not "simple" it's a mess that can only be fixed if the cycle of controversy -> media blames yt for what creators do -> advertisers flee.
The dislikes behind rewind are not hate nor negativity, it’s a message from an audience who was NOT understood and NOT included and NOT reached out. Bad content gets bad criticism, this is just a natural and logical reaction of the people.

Inclusivity is the reason why Rewind is so awful. Inclusivity is a word used by narcissists and charlatans to disguise their prejudices as virtues. It's about including certain groups to show how virtuous you are and excluding others that have no value to you. Inclusivity is about leaving the wrong kind of people out. In Rewind's case inclusivity was notably about excluding PewDiePie.

But inclusivity important to strive for and unless your doing a "transitionless" montage you can't tastefully include everyone. However the 2018 rewind should have included many more and many different creators than they did.

Well it is pretty bad for a company like RU-vid to not know what its audience actually wants and provide that. This is not the TV. If it becomes any more like the TV people will move to different platforms. Appease your advertisers, sure, but DO NOT forget who your audience is. It is not the 50s anymore and the beginnings of TV. I personally think the biggest problem was that they didn't put real youtubers who actually represent 2018. I didn't even know more than have of the people in the rewind. They just slapped on a bunch of g-rated youtubers and called it a rewind.
Yeah, but don't miss that there are not only people in the video who are internationally successful, but very successful in their own country, like Dagi Bee and KellyMissesVlog. So, it's kinda understandable that you didn't know every creator in the video. But I agree that some RU-vidrs were 'g-rated', and some not even RU-vidrs, lol Missed Shane Dawson in the Rewind, as well.
The writers of the video should be a combinations of high level youtubers and comedy show writers. Not just some cooperation goons. This whole video had the feeling and entertainment of an Advertisement, and thats just not expectable for a creative production.

Why is RU-vid rewind made by some company? All these great video creators like Casey Neistat are involved and they just use them as actors?? I think RU-vid rewind should be made by RU-vidrs, a third party company is not going to have a clue what the RU-vid audience actually whats.

Because this is the job of a production company. The scale of a video like this is too large for just a group of creators coming together to do. In any economical way atleast. Keep in mind RU-vid Rewind isn’t made by “some company”. Portal A interactive is a company that’s made huge productions for the likes of Disney, Universal, Google, Sony, Macy’s, Warner Bros, and a whole bunch more. They’re a pretty capable studio, but what more then likely made this video come out the way it did was RU-vid meddling with the production. Don’t blame this fiasco on the passionate team of video people who made it, blame it on RU-vid.
RU-vid was good until 2014. It all basically changed when they in my opinion started paying youtube high money on videos that shows no skills and talents and turning this site as an actual Monopoly company. The only pages l like that do deserve a pay here are those who do animation, movie/game reviews and news like channels.
That whole campfire scene was stupid af and one of the main reasons the video received so much negativity. For example, they were applauding themselves because they took sponsorship deals from BetterHelp to talk about mental health and buying their services. Trashy and exploitative.
True, no one tuned into the video wanting to hear about political talk. Shut your mental health and controversial talk and put it on some other video. Did they really think viewers would be like "Yea! go us for rising"? No, we wanted a fun video recapping the year not another political driven video
No-one mentions it but that just reminded me of a charity stream done by a bunch of edgy youtubers where all superchats were used for charity, but because the content of those messages was edgy too, RU-vid refunded the whole thing and shut it down. That's a lot of charity and support right there.
