Great video ... my mother always did the envelope system. My parents had a wonderful life and retirement. I was always proud of my mom for how well she did saving for our family. ♡
Keely Bennett In the video, she is stuffing her envelopes after payday. So I'm guessing Alyssa gets her paycheck, analyzes and writes down each amount to put towards an envelope, then calculates how many banknotes she wants of each. She goes to retrieve her direct deposit (or cashes her check) from the bank.

I use to have the monthly disneyland but the price of the passes for 3 of us ended up being the price of 3 plane tickets for us to travel internationally, so instead I chose to travel more. But I really want a pass again they just went up so much and the only plan that has the free parking is the $999 one so sad.
I agree, the prices have gotten SO high lately, it is a little ridiculous. My boyfriend's family goes every 1-2 weeks, so I felt like it was a good idea to get one so I can spend more time with them! But I'd prefer to spend it on travel too, absolutely!
So in terms of your bank account how much should you keep in there? Because you are pretty much getting your check in cash and then just putting the cash in the bank when needed..
Yep, basically! I have my emergency fund in my savings account and that's the only significant amount of money in my account other than the 2 times per month I get paid! I usually leave a little buffer of like $20 or so in my account just in case something gets charged to it that I wasn't expecting, to avoid overdraft fees and whatnot but other than that I just put the money back in my account as needed!
How wide are your cash envelopes it look like the money will slide inside the cash envelopes perfectly fine without a problem .? I got a few envelopes from the dollar they hardly fit inside the cash envelopes I'm looking for some cash envelopes that the money will fit inside are you planning on selling your cash envelopes I bought some from a RU-vidr they were about the same size has the Dollar tree envelopes .I might go target get some clear pencil holders , Good video .
Hey there! I made mine 7.5" wide, I wanted to make sure they were wide enough to fit the cash in easily, and I'm really happy with the width! I will definitely start selling them here in the next couple of weeks, once I am all finished with this semester of school :) I'll be sure to put a link to my Etsy once they're up for sale!

Right?! I could buy so many things! Luckily I have my tuition pretty much covered with a grant (I THINK) so this money should cover a couple semesters of books and fees and lab supplies and whatnot. I just like to be safe!
Josephine Irene I’m living at home while I go to school and work 😊 my parents don’t ask me to contribute to those things due to the fact that I’m in school.
I will definitely be making some to sell on Etsy once I am done with this semester of school! I will post an update for sure when the envelopes are up on my shop.
Does your bf pay rent? I started writing down things I should start saving money for. I’m a teenager and would like to save more money for the future but I obviously have to put some of it away for my bills. This system is very helpful and has helped me save some money so far but I would love to put them in your envelopes instead of regular ones😀
daniela ortiz yes I will! I am super busy with my last week of school coming up but after that I will knock out some sets of envelopes and get them up on Etsy!
Love this! I’m going to have to make some for myself! How do you adhere the paper to back of the envelope? I want something that will be easy to peel off when it’s full. Thanks!
Haha! I was just about to say, what a great name! :) I just use double sided sticky tape. It'll definitely rip the lined paper when I take it off, but I won't mind that. I'll probably have to peel the tape off of the envelope too but since it's laminated I don't think it'll damage it at all. I had to take the label off of one of the envelopes and I had used that double sided tape to adhere the label, and there were no problems removing it!
