British celebrities rummage for collectables and antiques in their homes to be valued and sold at auction, the intention being to raise money for donation to their favourite charities.
Diane Abbott, the first black woman ever elected to the British Parliament, invites Chris Hollins and expert Paul Hayes into her constituency home in East London, hoping to sell some valuable collectibles for charity.
A Cambridge graduate, Diane Julie Abbott became a civil servant in 1976 before working extensively as a freelance journalist and reporter for Thames Television and TV-am. Her career in politics began in 1982 when she was elected to Westminster City Council as one of the country’s first black female councillors. Since then, Diane hasn’t looked back, appearing regularly on radio and television, including BBC1’s late night political discussion show “This Week”, with Andrew Neil and former MP, Michael Portillo, who she first met whilst at school. When Gordon Brown stepped down after the 2010 election Diane even put her name forward as a Labour Party leadership candidate.
