I see that no one replied I would advice you to track your expenses first. You can go to the bank and request your expense tracker for the last couple of months or 3 months (you can probably also check online if you prefer) Then go through them. Divide them by categories for example: gas, grocery, take out etc. and see how much you spend on each during the month or pay period. From there you can access if you want to keep using that amount or cut back then you can write down what you would like to use and withdraw that amount If you do the cash envelope system, it would be easier to stick to it since you can see the amount left on the particular envelope. For example if my goal is to spend $200 in grocery for a month then I will fill my grocery envelope with $200 in different denominations. I strongly recommend doing a budget breakdown for each paycheck/income. Let me know if you have any other questions

I can understand your concern, but people have been doing this for decades. It is not a new phenomenon. My aunt just told me yesterday, she’s been cash stuffing since she got married and I was a baby when she got married. I always tell people what is comfortable for some, may not be comfortable for others and that is okay. No one (who I know of) in the community is keeping their life savings in their house. Retirement funds, investments, high yields savings accounts, buffer accounts are all online. The goal is to save the small amounts of cash, that would normally be spent frivolously. We also encourage that once you save $1,000 to put it in the bank and use prop money in the envelopes. I’ve personally been saving money, at home, since I was a teenager and I’m 32 years old, now. If the system is uncomfortable for you, I’d recommend not to do it, and to find another system that you’re comfortable with.

You must live in the hood. Don’t hang around ratchet people and this wouldn’t even be a problem. Mostly everyone I know has money and really good careers. The last thing they gonna do is come in a take a few thousand from somebody house 😂. If you feel this way then you need to change your surroundings and who you hang around. People have had cash in their homes for decades before credit cards were a thing.
