Cracking review Leith ,great to see the colour upgrade on the blu ray. It’s a fantastic film.Yeajh I agree the baseball bat scene is tough to stomach,up there with the fire extinguisher science in Irreversible (and that scene is at the start 😱). On Casino James Woods is brilliant in it as well in a small role ,sort of went under notice..

Just wanted to drop this here as i heard you comment on streams a couple of times regarding the cornfield beatings in Casino. You might know, but in case you don't Tony Spilatro & Michael Spilatro were beaten to death in a basement in Chicago. Pretence was brother was being "made" but walking into the basement they noticed their friends (12 of them) had gloves on and so Tony Spilatro asked to pray before both were literally kicked and punched to death before being transported to the field. Those that buried them were also killed afterwards for the sloppy burial. Ironic thing is Tony asking to pray and the church refused to give both brothers a public burial. Lastly I agree with you about Casino being at least as good as Goodfellas, just for the scale of the film alone and the fact street guys ran Vegas for decades. It's a "masterpiece"!

I hear what you’re saying Keith about the end scene, it is done very well both visually, and through how it is edited. It has to be said though that although the scene is violent, I felt it was contextually deserved, and magnified the brutality of being part of that criminal world. It truly is a great scene in a great movie for me. Great release you’ve picked up, looks superb.

Hey Keith, I have been looking forward to this one, I think you know how I feel about this movie, its one of the greatest ganster movies ever made next to the Goodfellas. Pesci is a scene stealer in this film and thats not taking anything away from the rest of the amazing cast. Yeah that baseball bat scene is brutal and almost real looking. I wished they hadn't killed off Nicky Santoro, they could have done a spin off with him, that would have been awesome. Great artwork on and in the box, this film is a masterpiece in film making and one I can watch at any time. It was only about 4 weeks ago when I last watched it, I think its due another viewing after watching this video Keith. Great review as always,. Catch you on the next one Keith, take care.

A proper film

A classic movie that I have yet to pick up and I don't know why. I haven't seen it since the VHS days but remember loving it.

Hey Keith, Great addition really nice. I have the standard edition, and it looks van tastic I wish good fellas would get the transfer It deserves. Comparing the two movies, I guess I’m the polar opposite I prefer Goodfellows, but of course, giving all the credit to casino that it deserves I know what you mean about that scene i’ve always referred to it as the cornfield scene. Once you see it, you’ll never forget it. Amazing how real it looks. I think what puts Goodfellas over the top for me like you the Vegas setting does it , it’s the steady cam shot in the beginning of the movie when they’re going the back way through the club and the music in Goodfellows is just awesome. You certainly can’t go wrong with either film. have a great one as always👍

Watched that "scene" around the age of 18 and it stuck with me. It's the stuff of nightmares. He kind of deserved it though - lol :D

I get your point with Goodfellas it does drop off at the end. When I first watched Casino back then i miss judged it as a copy of Goodfellas for years, after a rewatch about a decade ago I changed my mind. Good vid mate

This was one of the first 4k discs I ever bought and it did not disappoint. I popped in my old DVD just for comparison and you have no idea the difference 😂 What can you say about the movie, just an absolute classic.

Fantastic film and edition Keith, i check around for it from time for a good price myself but it will very likely be in film vault as its universal so i want a good edition of this. I remembered Keith you hadn't seen Scarface and id like to see your thoughts on that if you're looking for another film of this level to watch.

I snagged this too back when it came out. Also got Everything Blu's version as well. I am Not which I like better. Both really nice. I am not a huge fan of the texture on the Full slip case on this one though.

Yes Keith, I agree Casino for me was more enjoyable. I went into watching both Casino and Goodfellas "blind" without knowing much about reviews other than theyre well regarded. Casino was just brilliant. Need to pick up the 4K myself at some point as I only have the blu ray

Hey Keith, a quick heads up, I heard through the grape vine, well okay, maybe from the master himself, there is going to be a sequel to The Thing. John Carpenter revealed it in a press conference 4 days ago.

I (re) watched casino on the plane to Vegas last year for a mates wedding.... Watching on my ipad admittedly isn't ideal ... But... It was good prep for Vegas 😊

Casino and Goodfellas - both equally brilliant films. Do you know if the original Terminator movie from 1984 will ever get a 4K release? That film is awesome. Really surprised it hasn't had the 4K treatment yet. Im guessing T2 got a 4K release before the original because the mainstream audience prefer that film.

I'll have to watch it again, it's been a long time, but I can't put it ahead of Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, or even Mean Streets (granted is a grittier, every day gangster film) for a Deniro film. I'll have to watch it again- maybe I'll change my mind. Ellen turns to Keith and says you're very white looking- Lmao. An Irishman (another film) that watches movies all day- I would know. What a beautiful looking set- That company doesn't mess around. Im sure its a massively different viewing experience from my dvd. I just picked up the new Dungeons and Dragons film on 4k and Prince Of Darkness on Blu Ray myself. Cheers

Why on god’s green earth would anyone spend €73 for a steelbook?!?! 😂🤣 Well you know me Keith, I have limited room so I pretty much just limit the collection to horror. Having said that though, I fckn love this movie so I did pick up the everythingblu 4K steelbook full slip a year or 2 back, had to have it in the collection 🤷🏻‍♂️. Nice score on that Filmarena set Keith!👍
