Casio HT-700 Digital Programmable Synthesizer
This demo contains a number of short MIDI sequences and arpeggios highlighting the filter and wavetable-like oscillators. MIDI sequences were driven by the Yamaha RS7000 Sequencer. Arpeggios were provided by the Novation Bass Station II. On some sequences the Boss Dr-660 played drums. A few pieces of outboard gear was used. Alesis, Behringer & Art Pro Compressors. Delays and reverbs were added from a number of devices: Lexicon MX200, Behringer REV 2496, Zoom MS-CDR70, Digitech RDS 1900.
There is a built-in "stereo" effect using a BBD chorus circuit but it was disabled throughout. I found it a little noisy and a distorted.
The LFO only affects the oscillator. It has depth, delay, speed and 4 waveforms (tri, ramp, reverse ramp, square, random)
It has 31 waveforms for the upper voice and 16 waveforms for the lower voice.
4 part multitimbral - upper voice, lower voice, bass, PCM drums
(8 voices in single mode or 4 voices upper, 3 voices lower, 1 voice bass). The individual drum sounds cannot be triggered over MIDI but the drum patterns do transmit.
One programmable analog filter for the upper voice, another analog filter for the lower voice. The bass voice has no filter.
The resonant NJM2069 filters are very similar to the Korg Poly 800, DW 6000, DW 8000, DSS-1. The DCA and VCF envelopes have fast ADSR and level parameters. However maxing the attack and decay unfortunately isn't slow enough in my opinion. You can hear the filter envelopes at their slowest settings in the Filter Sweeps demo at 10:44.

Great Demo i loved the ht700 underrated as a synth

Nice music and video! I love this keyboard and it also reminds me of the Korg Poly 800 in a lot of ways - particularly in some of the sounds it can produce and how the filter retriggers. But, I must say that the Poly 800 offers many more parameters for sound design and the HT-700 is far more limited as a synth. I wish that editing on the HT-700 was more straightforward. The menu diving and behavior of the data entry dial can really test your patience! All in all, I consider that part of the character of the keyboard, but I'd probably use it more if editing was more intuitive.

Despite its cheesy looks and limited programmability, it does have a really nice sound thanks to the analog filters. I see this in the same realm as a Korg Poly 800: Limited but loads of character for what it's capable of doing.

Is the arp the Casio? Or is it an external sequencer?

Mark. The arpeggios were generated externally over MIDI. The Casio does not produce arps. However the built-in drum patterns and accompaniments do go out over MIDI.

Thanks for the reply Patrick. It seems like a nice little bridge between the home keyboard, and more expensive synths of the time.

I picked up one of these at a garage sale up the street for $15 and didn't know what I had till I got it home. Just a blast and have used it live at church for some specific sounds. The Poly-800 was my first synth and yes indeed this did remind me of that character!

@@trebleboost7 You definitely found a treasure. I bought one when they first came out back in 1988 and it was on sale for %50 off at $189. I jumped on it for i was moving from the Casio Mt-36 to this one and boy of boy what a wonderful piece of equipment this keyboard is. Hope you are still enjoying.
