Thank you for the nice detailed review, very much appreciated! What are the names/titles of the "piano test songs" that you played? I'm not aure how to call them, but I hear them several piano reviewer channel or piano store channel play thoses songs, and I don't know the title but I recognize them, like "Oh, that's the Alamo piabo test song... ...and that's the Chuck piano test song", I'm sure you know what I mean :) Thank you.

LOL I know exactly what you mean :) The first 3 songs I play are A Day In The Life, Let It Be and then Your Song. I like using A Day In The Life for piano tests because there's alot of variation in dynamics and sustain. Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe

Really appreciate you comments on þe piano action issue. I was considering purchasing one of þese and þen saw þe criticism of þe action but hearing your take on it made me see it's probably not too major of an issue and one þat can be adapted to wiþ one's playing.

Thanks so much, glad you liked the review! I do really enjoy the action on these pianos (it's fully weighted but a bit light and fast/responsive). Piano action is very personal, everyone likes something different - it's always best to test actions yourself in a store if possible to make sure. Thanks for this in-depth video, really helpful! I'm almost buying this piano, just one small detail put me in doubt, on 45:19, while testing the speakers, I noticed that the keys make a rather loud noise while playing. Do you find this as too distracting and/or annoying while you play? Also, do you think every digital piano on this price range have this kind of noise? Thank you again!
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 5 месяцев назад
To be honest I always play with headphones unless I'm with my band (where you can't even hear the keyboard speakers) so I never notice key noise on any of my keyboards. All digital pianos with weighted keys will have a "thump" sound, I know some are worse than others - I should probably start including that in my reviews . . . Hi there.I had recently the opportunity to try at a store side by side the PX-s 1000 which is still left there in the showroomm for some reason and the Px-s 1100 which was next to it..Even though i dont think it is mentioned anywhere,and most people take it for granted that the actions are the same actually they are not.In fact i was very surprised myself,because i also thought he actions are the same.The 1100 is slightly heavier than the 1000.Not to the point that it would be an issue,but it is slightly heavier.You have to try them next to each other to feel this.Just though to contribute this info,im pretty sure you didnt know this,i didnt.

Thanks for sharing that! I didn't notice a difference between my 1100 and 3000 action, but it wasn't side by side like you said.

Hello. I know you’ve moved on from this digital piano; but do you remember if this keyboard has the ‘security screws’ for the safety straps that comes on some of the piano stands? Despite all the reviews, and even going through the marketing content, I cannot find a picture of the bottom/base of this piano! Thanks in advance.

@@PianoTonealready subscribed! Thanks for the prompt reply. So I ended up (despite it being a very different animal) ordering the Casio CT-S1-76 so if you happen to know, or find out out, if this unit has the safety/security screw, that would be helpful. There is hardly any info on this keyboard due to how new it is, and my unit is 2-3 weeks away. Sadly I know the OG CT-S1 does not have the security screw, so I doubt the 76 key version does. Fingers crossed they used some of the extra space for this but I’m not holding my breath!
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 29 дней назад
@@TrunksCentral I was actually in a store yesterday and tried to look under the 1100 - to be honest it's hard to tell the security screws from the screws just holding the keyboard together. If the CT-S1 61 didn't have them I can 99% guarantee the 76 won't either. I've had keyboards with those and have never used the straps myself; are you thinking it would be important for you? As long as I have a solid stand, I'm good.

Hey, would you still advise this piano? I'm also adult beginner, but from "zero". Deciding between kawai ES 120 and Casio 1100 or 5000. I tried es 120 and s1100 in store, but I dont have exp at all. Both were "better", than roland or yamaha to me. The main criteria is as silent as possible, dont care about speakers at all (have audtio interface with midi), mobility also not important, but in the future this opinion could be changed... Sound on YT is also best for casio and kawai (both). So probably the action is main goal to look at. ES 120 overall the best, but px-s1100 is lighter and shorter pivot could be maybe better to my not big hands, also I have half-working pinky finger on right hand. Kawai is just a bit more expensive, but not as much. (525$ for casio and 600$ for kawai). But I also read and watched about PX-s5000. It costs 900$, but as I heared - they fixed all issues with the action and its just became better overall, more silent etc (which is most important criteria to me). Did you try it? Could you give me some thoughts from your experience for my case? thank you :)
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 2 месяца назад
I’ve never tried the kawaii (no store where I live sells them); I personally wouldn’t pay more for the 5000 over the 1100 I think it is very overpriced. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

@@PianoTone thanks for info. Then I will reduce my research only on casio 1100 and kawai es 120. Probably only the "size" matters now. I'm not sure what would be better for my hands without piano experience. Only one little problem is that my pinky finger on the right hand works only "partly". I can not lift it up more than 70% of finger bending. But as I can see there a lot of pieces, which are highly played with pinky...
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 2 месяца назад
@@nik9470 From what I have heard of the ES120, it has a more "piano like" action which will mean it is likely heavier to play than the Casio so if you have issues with your fingers maybe the Casio might be a better choice. Can you go try out the actions in a store? That's always the best idea if you can
@nik9470
@nik9470 2 месяца назад
@@PianoTone thanks for feedback!:) Yeah I was also thinking about it, that bigger action - harder to play. The only 1 aspect what people say is that the longer keys are - the easier is it to play near the end of the key, whats important for having a contro over dynamics. But to be honest, I'm ready to sacrifice this aspect if all other aspecs will be easier to me :D And yes, I've been in the store and tried them both, also roland and yamaha. Kawai and casio were the best. But... Its same when I started guitar. If you don't have experience at all, you can not rate it adequately. First impression could be reeeeeally wrong, FIrstly I started with dreadnough guitar, because its has so much power, volume etc, but later I realized that its a hell to keep training with dread everyday for many hours.... Then I bought 00-sized guitar (Grand Concert), it was awesome and convinient to play fingerstyle, but later I realized that I'm really limited in dynamics aspect there... And later on I went to Grand Auditorium. And now with all my experience I'm sure, that its exactly what I need :D I think its really same with piano, if buying the first one. This is why just wanna hear and trust to experienced people, as I would give same good recommendations in acoustic guitar topic, based on preferences/physical limitations etc :D

Excellent review, but I'm still confused if getting fp30x will be worth it
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 2 года назад
The FP-30x is an awesome instrument with some big improvements over the FP-30 (line out ports and built in audio interface) and it has great sounds. I personally prefer the PXS-1100 because I happen to like lighter action, and I'm not concerned with having an action as close as possible to an acoustic piano. So it depends on what you like, and what your goals are. If you like a heavier more "acoustic piano'ish" action you will like the Roland more. Are you able to go try out these pianos in a store? That's really the best way to know which one you will like.

Thanks so much! To be honest I'm not if there is the ability to set EQ or not (I don't own the piano anymore); I don't see that in the manual anywhere - there are reverb options, not sure if one of those might have more low end? tnx for reviewing. Only after purchasing this piano, I realised how the white lights stab the eye after very little use, imagine hours of practice. I know there s a way to turn most of them (except Function) off by pressing Function+G7. But turning on the metronome brings em all back on with the additional double blink of the metronome lights. Are there any ways you reccommend to turn off this festival of lights? Besides putting a book or something over it... I'm considering returning the piano.
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 2 года назад
Hi there! I never noticed that issue (I never use a metronome I always play with drumbeats or backing tracks). I would have thought when you turned off the lights they would stay off though - I could see that being frustrating! Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

Hi there,well after serious consideration i decided to go with hammer action and i got the Casio 1000 which i understand is almost identical to the 1100.The problem is i cant get any sound from the audio out ports.Theres no instruction at all in the manual about what to do to connect to PAsystem.The sound is still coming out of the on board speakers even though i have the cables connected.Do you have any idea about that?
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 2 года назад
Hi there! The instruction isn't in the main manual it's in the "connection guide" on Casio's website (manufacturers have started splitting up into multiple manuals nowadays - I'm not a fan of that :) But here is what you need: Normally to connect to an amp or PA you would use a single instrument cable (1/4" TR cable; so one stripe on the tip) from the "Left/Mono" output to a channel on the PA. When you use that port alone, you get a combined left and right mono signal, that works great for a PA or amp. You could also elect to use BOTH the left and right (both with the same type of cable, 1/4" TR) to TWO inputs on a PA, and then you would have a channel with just your right and another with just your left, but that's usually only done when connecting to recording equipment not a PA. And you should by default still hear sound out of the piano speakers when using these ports; that's so the player can hear themselves from speakers close to them as well as the PA system (if you don't want the speakers enabled, I think there is a setting in the manual to turn them off, or you could just plug something even just an adapter into the headphone port and that would turn the speakers off). Hope that helps!

thanks nice review.I was thinking of buying one of these but i think they are all overpriced so ill get one of the keyboards with hundreds of voices.They are much more reasonably priced.These are simply asking too much money just for the hammer action.

Thanks! Yes, having a weighted graded key action definitely adds a lot to the price; so if the action isn't important to you, you can definitely save some cash. I'd recommend looking at the Korg EK-50 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X59R-PWCoDg.html) or the new Yamaha PSR-E473 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g0qQQHNnRnM.html).
