@@jonasalbertsson1195 Unfortunately, these watch prices seem to vary a lot during this pandemic - can only hope they stable out soon. I grabbed this one for £49.99 a few weeks ago; though it's still a solid watch for £80
Casio Edifice was my first watch ever.. I wore it(almost daily) for 19 years.. 19 years it lasted... Got it as a Christmas gift, never wanted or wore a watch before.. But I got it, so started using it, I was 19 years old at the time. I'm 39 now, it finally gave out last year, when the screws finally stripped themselves and the back plate wouldn't stay on. Only swapped the battery maybe 2 or 3 times in 19 years. It was simple, elegant and a god damn tank. Surprisingly quality watch. Wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to pick up another.
My Edifice is also on a similar path. I've had it for almost 8 years now, and only had to change the battery once. It's on the heavier side, and I use a watch as a utilitarian tool, but it's managed to hold up quite well. The bracelet has gotten quite dinged now, but the watch itself is still spotless, save for one tiny scratch on the glass, which isn't even noticable.
Thx for sharing. I lost a F91-W in my garage when i was a kid and found it 9 years later with Battery intact and it only gained 5 Minutes in all these years. Incredible. I am an enthusiast for vintage japanese watches. I bought an Casio CFX-200 Calculator watch. It is 40 years of age and still working perfectly. Love this brand. Vintage Seiko is the only one that comes close. Sadly newer models both from Seiko and Casio don't live up to their standars but both are still incredible brands. Especially when it comes to their "main-models" because the finishing on them is usually superb
Nonsense, 38mm is not a 'women's watch' (nothing wrong with those either btw). Men's watches used to be even 34mm in diameter. Just because Silvester Stallone decided to wear a Panerai doesn't mean the rest of us have to lug wall clocks around as well. Just wear what fits you and stop listening to those fools who think you're not manly enough.
Yup, hopefully over the years sizes will even out a bit. There's already more dive styles around 38-39mm. This watch could easily be called a discount milgauss.
@@VietMy123 I bet they don't if you compare them side by side. If you take proper closeup shots the watch tends to look bigger. Ben also has pretty narrow wrists.
@@StuntpilootStef if you take BAD closeup shots the watches tend to look bigger. Move the camera back and zoom in if you want it to look normal. Furthermore, just because 34mm used to be worn by men, doesn't mean it works now. Fashions change - men used to walk around in tights with frilly lace collars and feathers in their hats; do you think anyone could get away with that now?
Have been collecting watches for the last 20 years, got from rolex , omega, IWC, cartier, then i also got seiko, citizen and some battery operated brands from casio to movado and to add to the mix got iwatch 5 and 6 series, My favorite is Casio ediface , I love the way it feels on my wrist, got a lot of compliments, keeps perfect time. I have never got bored wearing that casio, Nice review
I have to say, however, the watches DO speak for themselves. I am sure that the bean-counters at Casio are relying on the FREE advertising: "word-of-mouth". I'd bet the bottom line is not affected, though watches going out of production is a real drag to watch fans.
i think yall got it backwards...its not so much lack of proper marketing..i think its just that culturally, the japanese are diferent than lets say,the western people...usually,more polite, more traditional, and more honest.they dont try to sell something for what its not..being it watches, cars or lcd´s..yall say its its lack of proper marketing, but once they rase their prices, here come the ones that say..."for that price i can buy such and such..."
This one is definitely ICE COLD! I bought one and I adore it. It's just so comfortable and the subtle sunburst on the charcoal/carbon black dial is really amazing. The SARB-like case and finishing make it a total winner.
@@mrbacchus6127 I currently own both and, naturally the Casio doesn't come close to the SARB, but it's as good as a '5' and with the case profile that we love.
I just got one after seeing your video (I paid only 25€ for a second hand one) and it is STUNNING! I can't believe how nice it is in person. It feels way more expensive when you hold it in your hand!
I've had the blue dial 40mm one for a few months now. Came in a beautiful cylindrical metal box and when I opened the lid I was a bit disappointed because the dial looked black...until I brought it to light. Wow! That blue dial really hits you, especially with the orange second hand tip and WR rating. The Edifice series from Casio are supreme in design, quality and price. I Scuba dive with my Duro and have never had a glitch. Kudos to the Casio design team. Thanks Ben for your great vid reviews!
@@sargera1 Not really in my case because I have many watches in my collection and I'm quite picky and don't buy cheap. I never liked digital and in the early years Casio were the leaders in this field. I did own a Casio mini color TV though which I kept and used for many years until I sold it on EBay. But when Casio started producing analog only and the Duro came out, my Scuba dive computer had konked out, so I bought the Duro which still serves me well. Then Casio brought out the Edifice series. I bought this blue dial 40mm out of sheer confidence and for its eye-catching design...glad I did. BTW I also use it to set the time on all my automatic mechanical watches each day, because this one and my Duro are the only quarts watches that keep atomic time to within 1 second a month! Cheers! When Cas
I have an edifice chrono and it's keeping time at 0.02s a day...best £71 I've spent on a watch. I have more expensive watches, but nothing that keeps time quite as well (though I have an oceanus on the way that will take the crown).
@@PinkyEdits The "L" variant has a leather strap and slightly different accents. The white one has orange second hand, compared to the black one of the 100D and that is the reason to search for it. Black and blue variants seem to be more common and I can find them locally - both 100D and 110D. Thinking of getting a discounted 100D, but can't decide blue or black...might end up buying them both :D
I got this watch gifted to me from my girlfriend and it blew me away, looks way more expensive than it is, beautiful dial and bracelet plus the WR makes it the perfect everyday watch
I been a fan of Casio's Edifice line of watches for a long time - they're very high quality, elegant, stylish without being garish and they just look different than other similar brands - problem is they're hard to find in a retail environment - I think it's because many think Casio is a "cheap watch" - but hand them a sexy, glamorous Edifice model and they'll never guess it's a Casio - kinda weird
The blue version is on my list for months now. Unfortunately prices on Amazon Germany go up and down like on a roller coaster. I´d absolutely take the blue dial.
Happens in the US too. Find a product you like? Look at the pricing history in Camelcamelcamel, sometimes +-30% in a matter of days, and for seemingly no reason. Frustrating to say the least.
Only discovered your channel recently Ben but I'm hooked on your channel already. I've owned a few watches I fancied from Fossil and bought a Vincero (yeah, that) but never really knew much about watches. Credit to you for your informative and detailed reviews!
This is one of my favorite watches. I have the EFV-100, the blue dial. This watch punches way above its weight and looks considerably more expensive than it's price. I would agree about the logo, wish is was smaller. Great value, great watch!
When this video was first posted I watched it and immediately ordered the white dial for my partner. She loved it. Now months later I've ordered one for myself. for the money its amazing.
Thanks for the review. On the strength of this I bought the 100D. I have had it for a week. The finishing is fabulous. It is below my Seiko SARX - but not by much! I have the blue dial version and the sunburst is excellent. It is absolutely legible - a half second glance is all you need. In my humble opinion your review is exactly on the money. I concur that it is exceptionally comfortable - though I have chucked on a $20 leather strap. My 'complaints': A frame round the date would be nice. Sapphire with AR coating would be worth paying a bit extra for.
Nice watch but too small for me. I recently bought a Casio Edifice EFV-130D-2AVUEF for under 50 €. It has a beautiful blue dial and a rotating bezel and also 100 m water resistance, a mineral glas and a screw down crown. You can also buy it with a black dial. The diameter is 43,8 mm, but it is wearing smaller.
This one came out at the top of my list at a sensible price - I wanted one less than 38mm to wear while swimming and also for walking after dark, when silver hands on a black dial are hard to see. The large luminous hands are a practical solution. The blue one on a blue NATO looks good.
I just purchased one on Ebay for $ 87.99 like an hour ago, I can't wait to get it here. Thank you for the video and keep up the great work. I really like your videos 👍👍👍👍
I've own all three in 40mm. The white dial is the most awesome out of the three, especially on its tan leather strap which makes it stand out even more. On the other two, I replaced the metal bracelets with black leather straps and replaced the buckles with deployment clasps. I replaced the buckle on the tan leather strap as well with a rose gold deployment clasp. All three watches look mega expensive now even though I paid between £55 and £64 for all three of them. White dial was £64 and the other two £55 and £60.
Yeah yeah.... I have the black dial version and the white dial version, both in the 40mm size. Like most of your viewers, I have more watches than I need so, while I personally prefer the white dial on a NATO or distressed leather strap, for a one watch solution, I'd probably suggest the black as I feel it pulls off the dress look a bit better. I remember when these were $28 USD. That's what my black one cost, brand new from Amazon. I still feel that is the best brand new watch value I've ever seen. Had to ante up a few $$$ more for the white dial but it's a keeper for sure. They are both keepers.
YS having a quartz watch in the collection is a good for when you’re doing something that may shock a mechanical watch. Like hiking or running or general rough work.
@@donnk quartz are more reliable and accurate than those shitty mechanical ones ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_2By2ane2I4.html see how quartz watch work its a different level of work than mechanical watches.
Hi Ben, my 110D turned up this morning. It is everything that you described in your video. The 110D is a lot of watch at this price point. I will definitely be looking at Casio for future purchases. Ice cold watch.
This is the only watch I've owned that was noticed by non-watch people and complimented on. In that sense, it beat more expensive watches. I'd like it to be either quartz-solar, or automatic, willing to pay $200-250 for that! Oh yes, sapphire crystal is a must too!
@@marvello729 Thanks, I see it listed as a 37,8 mm on the casio site: www.casio-europe.com/euro/products/watches/edifice/efv-110d-1avuef/ Kinda confusing... is this including the crown? I have 17 cm wrist (6.7 inches) and I'm afraid that the small version might look small if it's 35 mm without the crown.
@@Random-ch9my I noticed the same at the time. Just measured it and it is 35mm WITHOUT the crown. The sweet spot for me is 38mm but this one is a good fit on my 6.5" wrist.
One question that may sound stupid, does It make sound when It ticks? I have only had really cheap watches and that is why I usually use digital watches
@@ags2989 All watches make a ticking sound except for digital ones. Some are louder than others. This watch you wouldn’t hear unless you placed it next to your ear.
Theres a truism in our community that "you cant go wrong with a Casio", and that totally applies to this. I have the blue dial one - The bracelet looks cheap with its shiny shiny polished centre links, so I ditched that in favour of a decent leather strap - massive improvement.
I found your channel a couple of days ago, I was looking for a slim watch and saw your review on the A700WEM-7AEF and because of you and all the helpful information you provided, I ended up buying it; but I’m still looking for a slim, minimalist more formal watch that I can wear with a suit. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, keep up the hard work.
I bought the white dial version last year and it's my favorite watch so far. The most outstanding part of it is that you can wear it at any occasion. For weekdays go with a bracelet. For sporty days go with a nato. For formal events go with a leather band. It's an amazing piece. Thank you for covering this watch!
Ben thanks for reviewing watches most people can afford! I love watches but I weary of the web sites that only review $10,000 watches. It’s nice to hear about and see watches for regular folks!
I bought the bigger model and it is fantastic. I love how versatile it is, not overly sporty but not overly dressy, and the bigger model is a perfect fit. I was tempted by the blue dial one but the black one is more universal. I have more expensive watches than these but none of them is as universal as this one. You really can dress them up or down really well, I went with light brown, perforated leather strap and man, they look fantastic.
wow! I love these reviews on affordable watches because I'm only 14 and it really helped me state my watch collection! keep this up, man! I love the effort you put into these videos as well! you're the best man!
This has become my girlfriend's daily driver. Almost a year later, I still think it's the best affordable watch available today. Even the new Seiko 5s without a rotating bezel don't have that cool factor... ICE COLD!
How can i buy this watch it's not available in india....but in love with this watch...i want this watch bz of my small wrist it's difficult to find such beautiful small dial watch
Have got both sizes of this watch and must admit it is a stunning watch for the money and it's one of my favourite watches and I have a few high end watches and it compares favourably against them. Price, build and style I'd say it's Def ice cold💯👍
Cool watch! It's a kind of combinatoin between the explorer, the explorer II and a tudor heritage. It's an absolute steal for that kind of money.. if only they could brush that polished centre links.. it's a fingerprint-scratch magnet.. Keep up the good work ben!
I miss Casio watches. I used to get these beauties when i was still living in Singapore, mostly from Mustafa center or Paya Lebar for cheap. They're quite expensive from Amazon, also in EUR. Maybe when the pandemic is over, swing by SG again for some watch shopping.
This watch is quite mind blowing at how it’s so affordable and yet offers so much to the buyer! Casio really is incredible sometimes with their releases
The MTS 100L is, of course, out of stock everywhere. This is, I think, the 3rd time I've seen a review of a Casio watch that looked interesting but was already all gone. Casio only makes "Limited Editions?"
I bought one of these a few months back and it certainly deserves the praise it gets. It seems to only be available in Europe unfortunately as I have had lots of comments overseas when posting it on Reddit. Mine now rocks a 19mm Jubilee bracelet fitted to 18mm endlinks and it transforms the watch! Great review!
Got one. Absolutely INCREDIBLE value for money. I can't believe ANY body can make a watch this good for this amount of money. It will has already become my daily standard. What unbelievable value!
Ice cold! As a skinny wristed chick who loves tool watches, I'm delighted about this one. Since the women's market sorely lacks cool watches, this really hits the spot. I hope they keep it around.
I've just ordered white one for 79 eur in my country, just no comparison with that case and wr in this price range!! Oh, i've ordered 100d (40 mm). Thanks for bringing this to the chanell!
There is even a new one released Feb. 02 - 2024, Casio EFV150D which is 43mm, but very slim and wears more like a 40 mil. Just got it yesterday. Unprecedented value for money, paid around 100 USD
Add this one to the Ice Cold Column. I own the EFV-100D-2AV (Blue, 40mm) . The Braclet was a tad jangly so I put it a tan, leather strap - perfect casual watch! The dial POPS in the sunshine.
A very legible watch (day & night) with good contrast and well built. Own it. It compares with the high-end models. The yellow tip is a nice signature touch.
God damn! These >£50 Casio’s are just killing it. The past few you’ve had on your channel are on my wish list. I even bought one for my friends birthday. It’s up to £80 now Ice Cold
Hello, I really like your website and your reviews. Can you please be so kind to add the width bracelet size ? I don't understand why this information is not important. For me it's mandatory. Even on Casio's official webpage (and many other brands) they do not give this information. Can you please tell me the width for the EFV-100D-1AVUEF and for the EFV-110D-1AVUEF ? By the way they are at the same price on Casio's website. Please always give the width strating from now, ok ? ;-) Thank you. Cheers
Great video. Having watched your video I've bought the blue dialed version for my son as an all purpose watch. It arrived yesterday and it's a beautiful watch of good quality.
Highly commendable production. Great shots that focus on the watch. Great video overall. Review is good, but maybe a more critical flare is good. Will subscribe!
Bought a plastic Casio many years ago........what a watch........light as a feather, thin, good battery, great timekeeping.......I put a white leather strap on it......it being a whife watch...I think it looks really cool ......especially in the summer when I wear a lot of white clothes....shoes etc..........I love my Casio ...!
I still have my EFA-120, hands down my favorite 1-watch. Ironically it only got replaced when the battery finally died, and at the time I was given 2 watches that replaced it. An Omega for the fancy, a tough solar for my non-formal times.
Highly recommend the 40mm over the 35mm, I think the 35mm is just way too small even with my 6.5 inches, but that's just my opinion. Bought it a few months ago, amazing watch for the money.
I have an Edifice EFS-S530 and I love it. I bought it for my thirtieth birthday this year.j was torn between getting a nice quartz watch or an entry level Seiko automatic. I went with the Edifice, it's for solar and a sapphire crystal and as long as no components break it should last longer and be more accurate than a cheap auto. I've worn it every day since. Paid £110 for it
Same money, Pagani 1661 explorer. Solid links screw in,milled clasp, sapphire crystal , ceramic bezel, sieko nh35 movement, screw down crown and back case. 100 meter water resistance.
