While I love this film and have seen it more times than you'd imagine, it still wrecks me near the end... He opted for hope and survival for a sole reason. Then he succeeded and that reason is gone. Can't even imagine the anguish...
From Forrest Gump saving his buddies in Vietnam to surviving on an Island in Castaway, a two + year production, to landing on the Hudson and so many other films, Tom Hanks is the best actor EVER!
@@bedford4383he meant rot. The i and o keys are right next to each other on the keyboard. It was a mistroke. Get better at deductive reasoning and reading.
i've gotta be honest. I've felt the same way chuck did during the pandemic. down in my basement, eating all by myself knowing that there were troubling times out there, but deep down, I had a desire to keep going.
Same here dude, and it was glorious! That was like the best year ever! No work, no forced social interactions, steady income from the government, living like a teenager again playing video games with friends all day, no sleep schedule, no obligations…damn I miss it🥹 My girlfriend already worked from home before the pandemic hit, and my daughter is an adult living on her own so no big change there either. After working full time for almost 30 years at various jobs, it was nice to have some paid time off. And yes, before you say it, I’m fully aware that I am in the minority with my opinion.
@@norcodaevwe are all paying for it now…..in spades. This was not really something that couldn’t be forseen. I knew there was going to be massive inflation as soon as the government mentioned it was going to pay people not to work. It was all a horrible mistake
@@Kittysoftpaws377 Right!! And now that I’ve/we’ve been back in the daily grind for a few years, I/we miss it even more. I’m not saying I necessarily want another pandemic, but if one happened, and I was forced to stay at home for a year again, I wouldn’t be disappointed🤣 Hope you’re having a nice day, Kittysoftpaws.🥂
Very amusing. Once on the island he was unlucky that almost all the parcels 📦 were duds. Couldn’t someone have sent a pair of spectacles 👓 (making fire 🔥), or a Swiss army knife 🔪 with saw 🪚 attachment to a nephew? A windup radio 📻 would have been nice, too. At night, where he was, he probably could get New Zealand or the Hawaii on the AM band.
I think this is an example of a movie ruined by the preview. It is a great movie, but imagine going into it not knowing if he made it off the island or not.
@@RideAcrossTheRiverMaybe, but all her family and friends wore her down in the finish. On the law of averages, she made the most practical decision. She moved on like 99 % of us would. 4 years is actually a goodly part of your life and in her 30s her bio clock ⏰ would have been ringing, if not screaming 🙀.
Not shown and maybe not known, is that he could of used half coconut shells 🥥 to cook things in, like soup, or boiling water. The shells 🥥 won’t burn provided there is liquid in them. Water need not be stirred, but soup or stew has to be. In real life he’d of also eaten the migrating bird life 🦅.
If one of the packages had a windup radio 📻, Chuck probably would have stayed with Wilson after hearing the political news from America. Chances are he may have had trouble getting a station during the day, but where he was at night on the AM band he probably could have gotten New Zealand or even Hawaii, etc.
@@joewhitehead3 Unfortunately, yes I can. People tend to be more than willing to check their brains at the door when it comes to politically motivated conspiracies that fit their paradigm .
@@RideAcrossTheRiverYou’re correct about the tools. If only he found a Swiss Army knife 🔪 with saw 🪚 attachment, in one of the packets. He’d have to be careful with it but I use mine all the time for all manner of things. As to fire 🔥, he eventually made one but a pair of glasses 👓 may have made the job easier. Most of the contents of the packets and parcels 📦 were useless to him, but he made the most of them.
It was interesting to me when he got saved. they say we got this huge homecoming party for you. so later he goes and all the food at the party was seafood. he just came home after eating nothing but seafood for four years .out of everything they could have got they get all seafood. people have no brains I swear.
That part is probably realistically insensitive, however the dietitian may of had a hand in this. i.e. he us used to high seafood diet, 🍔 & 🍟 just might kill him …
@@willhull1735 Probably right. It would just seem after four years he would have had a little more "Infrastructure" set up. But after I while, I guess it would seem hopeless.
@@willhull1735 He had more of a drive to stay alive at the beginning, because he probably thought he would get rescued so made more effort to make fire but after being on an island for so long he probably thought "What's the point in bothering".
