I’m really touched by the proper goodbye this ride got and the love and appreciation it deserves (and I’m touched by the people who waited something like four hours to ride it on it’s last day). I’m glad this wasn’t just brushing this ride under the rug and Disney clearly understands how much this ride meant to people.
What a wonderful "thank you" to the hard-working cast members, and a way for everyone to share in the memories of this wonderful attraction. Great stuff!
Of all the vids, this was the one i was really wanting to see. These young people worked here, and this was their gig. Now, I assume, they'll start working another spot. But it had to be a trip for them. I can only hope that one of the bloggers spoke with them about it
Watching this legit brought a tear to my eye! I'm sad to see Splash Mountain go, as my family has ridden it hundreds of times. But this was a classy way to send it off.
Did anyone get a video of the final heartfelt handoff speech over the PA that shut off the ride that handed off the mountain to Tiana? Man what an amazing atmosphere it was around the bridge last night.
This is actually so cute I know we lost a good one today and I know it was the right call but none the less it got it’s proper send off that it deserved for being in everyone’s hearts. I’ll never forget what you did for me Splash Mountain. RIP
It was not the right call. Splash mountain was still a popular ride and a classic. No need to change it. Tiana’s adventure does not belong in Frontier land
"Attention in Splash Mountain, the ride park button will be pressed immediately. Please stand clear of all flume and flumeside equipment. Once again, ride park button will be pressed. One. Last. Time. Thank you. On behalf of Br'er Fox and Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Bear and all of the critters of Chickapin Hill, thank you for the memories. And Billy, have a good night. Be nice to Tiana."
@@nateneubauer967 You have to understand that Disney wasn't about to keep a ride theme just because only the diehard Disney fan's had nostalgic memories of it... the theme is from a movie that is fkn vaulted in the first place... no future generations of people would be able to connect with the ride like we all did growing up as the theme it's based on isn't relevant anymore...
@@1ROCKET- relevance is one thing, but the ride theme itself was not racist is all I was saying. The movie plot itself wasn't racist either, it just used a racist trope.
Wow lucky for Magic Kingdom they got a closing date and an announcement over here at Disneyland we're just going to show up one day and it's going to be closed with no Fanfare or nothing
Cancel culture really sucks. The theme of splash mountain was one of my favorite movies growing up. It’s a real shame! There was absolutely nothing wrong with the movie, Song of the South.
1:56 WTF! I had NO idea that John Cena was even at Disneyland, let alone getting the privilege of being one of the last to ride Splash Mountain! I guess it does pay to be an Celeb after all! 😏
What a shame , a great ride and GREAT MUSIC. I will not go on the new ride, shame on Disney you could have made a different ride in the park but left Splash Mountain!!!
I’m confused how tianas bayou adventure with go with big thunder mountain. Splash mountain was always good, and always will be in my heart but, I’m looking forward to Tiannas bayou adventure ❤
I'm personally really angry. I was leaving for Florida This Friday after 4 months of planning, and I was gonna go to Disney world to ride splash mountain one more time, And then I found out it was going to close a week before we got there, and I was 1 WEEK OFF!
We think that Disneyland is dumb. They should replace it with a snow white and the seven dwarfs themed ride. Since the dwarfs worked in a diamond mine it would have worked out fine! Plus more people are familiar with it.
Sad to see a fun ride fall victim to the woke. Not everything is grade 11 English where you have to find a deep inner meaning to it or what the Imagineer was thinking of. It was a flume ride .
I am not happy with this I never 👎 got a chance to ride this amazing ride splash mountain at Disney world and I wood pay Disney to stop the 🏗️ and open up splash mountain And maybe I can have Disney keep it for good
It’s not being demolished. It’s just a re-themeing to a movie that doesn’t glorify or portray the antebellum South as a positive. But I get it. Florida doesn’t get reskins or rethemes, so this might feel like their “Mission: Breakout” moment.
Song of the South takes place during reconstruction, not the antebellum South. This popular misconception is one of the big problems with the film today, because the time period was likely more obvious to audiences living in the 1940s, which was closer in time to the Civil War than it is to today, 2023. Unfortunately (and ironically, as they were probably trying to avoid controversy at the time) the time period is only alluded to; the style of dress, Uncle Remus decides to leave plantation, etc. The time is not explicitly stated and most modern audiences miss the allusions. Having said that, to your point, sharecropping in the South during reconstruction was basically just Slavery 2.0, so yes, it is still a failing of that film to give that era the "Disney" treatment. I'm looking forward to the retheme, it especially makes sense in Disneyland, being right next to New Orleans Square.
Many people, including myself, do not believe there is anything derogatory to any race in that ride. We believe its removal was unnecessary, and we will greatly miss a ride we grew up loving. I understand you believe the ride should be removed due to racial undertone, but ultimately disagree when anyone tries to explain why. You are free to have your opinion, and I'm not saying you are wrong. But please understand that some people do not believe it has racial undertones.
@@GTNover I think they were being sarcastic. As in saying, the ride closing had such a high turnout, how can it be racist like disney says. Shaking their head at disney to show their disgust in disney
@@GTNover True. The movie was actually about coming together and sharing stories regardless of race was it not? Nothing bad or mean like some people are making it out to be. The only thing was I believe the parents didn't like it until the end
Ride has been around since DLand and Dworld opened and now it's considered racial tension?! Thing is, we've been making fun of the South since the dawn ages.
@@drewmarino2140 Thanks. I'm just wondering what is racial about the ride? It's just animals dressed it what was depicted as Southern stereotype at the time. If that is considered offensive well look at Small World ride. They've depicted ethics based on what they thought was their culture. That Mexicans wear sombreros and Asian people only eat rice. This Cancel Culture sucks!
I am not happy with this I wood pay Disney to stop the 🏗️ and keep splash mountain open for good and I never 👎 got a chance to ride splash mountain this amazing ride and why Disney needs to change the theme it should still be splash mountain they are just changing the in name and the inside of the ride and I am not happy with it. I what Disney to stop 🏗️ construction and open back up splash mountain back up for the fans and the people
