Your daughter will love Barcelona once she meets some people here. It’s full of life and a beautiful city. I’ve made a number of nutiden jumpers. Unless you live in a cold place I do not recommend that you knit it double. It makes a very light but too hot fabric. I usually knit it with wool mohair, a strand of alpaca or lace weight wool. That makes a lighter and cooler fabric. Thanks for a lovely episode.

She is really enjoying it and loves the balance of studying and exploring. I am definitely going to try knitting with one strand of nutiden combined with a strand of lace- just ordered from this last update- couldn't resist the blue and deep burgundy! All the best and thank you for being here!😍

Hi Andrea! Thank you for the lovely episode. I am knitting a jumper in Nutiden right now, held double with a silk mohair. I made several and they are perfect for REALLY cold weather🫣but I love knitting with Nutiden from time to time and I have a bit of a stash🤪so blankets might be a good idea. My daughter left last year for a year in England. I really can relate to your feelings. I was sick, really. Like grieving. She came home for term breaks, but every time she left again it was so ghastly sad again. But she is home again and it felt all in all like a really short time afterwards 😑Fingers crossed she settles in quickly🫶

What a wonderful gesture knitting blankets for the Welcome Blanket Organization….thanks for sharing the information about the organization. Lost my father in 2016 and indeed it’s still hard….think of him everyday -love the idea of picking up a ‘dad’ blanket to work on now and then. Need to dive through my stash! Working on a 2nd Whitehorse sweater (bright red!) and procrastinating casting on for the Tessellated Vest. In a KAL where one of the sweaters is the Instant Crush and I’m inspired every time I see one so perhaps I need to cast on that!

Yes, the blanket is very soothing and a quiet space to be with him. Your whitehorse sweater sounds awesome and yes, get on the Instant Crush- its heavenly, light, and knits up fairly fast!😍

What a wonderful episode! And no need to apologize for your dog, though spunky he is! It was great fun to see his determination. Thank you for sharing all of your projects, and your emotions. I've had two daughters, both of whom did overseas semesters, and it's hard to be without them. But believe me, it has given them such confidence, and knowledge now. My condolences for the loss of your Dad. Mine passed over 30 years ago, but my Mom only recently, during Covid. It's wonderful to hear about your time with your Mom, during these transitional days for you both. What a glorious gift to have each other close by. Truly, a treasure.

I love your podcasts! I was a purchaser of Nutiden and never found the perfect project me. I love your crochet blanket! I am also a new spinner. Where would I begin on a crochet blanket using both of these as you did ? I have never crocheted but your blanket warmed my heart ! Thank you! ❤️

Thank you so much! I learned to crochet during the pandemic and it's so relaxing and fun. I learned on RU-vid tutorials from TLYarn Crafts- she is an excellent teacher! ru-vid.com I double the yarn depending on its durability or pair it single strand with a soft mohair/suri or lace weight yarn to give it stability. To start, you'll be making a long chain- I just kept chaining using a 6.5 mm (K) hook the width of my bed. I would try a smaller project to start with to get the hang of it, but once it clicks a blanket is very simple! Best of luck! 🥰

Thank you so much for sharing the Welcome Blanket Organization. I’ve been wondering how I could get some quilts to a family immigrating to this country. I love that you and your mom knit blankets together. What a wonderful thing to share. Losing a parent is hard. My mom has been gone 25+ years and my dad 10 years and I still think of them both every day. And I feel your pain in regards to your daughter and the shifting dynamics of your family. It will get better! Be kind to yourself ❤

Thanks for talking about donating a blanket. It inspired me to look for local agencies to which I could donate hats. I enjoy making them but I have enough as do family and friends! I enjoy your podcast. I have cast-ons that I rotate through as well.

Hi Andrea, Loved the sweaters you've been working on. Your Augusta sweater is quite stunning, it looks like the sweater that keeps on hugging you! Also love your nordic sweater and the colors you have selected are gorgeous!. I have done a few things with Noro yarn and I really love it. The beautiful deep brown Noro sweater you are making for your husband will surely be treasured by him. Right now I've got 2 pairs of socks on the needle (recently completed a fabulous purple and white pair of fingering wool socks for myself) and I'm trying to complete a sweater for my daughter in law in Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine in colorway Lagoon. It's absolutely divinely soft and I can't wait to finish it so I can start a sweater for myself. So happy fall is here and knitting takes on a richer meaning as it helps us knitters endure the cold weather a bit better, keeping warm while we knit. I know how empty nest feels when kids depart for their lives, I raised 2 sons but now I have 3 grandkids and one of them is a girl!!!!! I'm really enjoying having grandkids, love em and give em back! Loved all that you are doing and look forward to your next episode! Hope to see your doggie Howl again- he is super-cute. Thanks for sharing how you were making the fade as I was wondering. Can I ask what size needles you are using? I’m a relatively newbie knitter and find it so good for my self care, and being able to make treasures is an added bonus. 😊

Hello and thanks so much for being here! I am using a size 11 circular needle and I started with three stitches and continually am increasing each row and the beginning. The edge stitches(2-3) are always slipped with yarn held in the front to create a neat border. Looks like your dog is training you well and is much smarter than you seem to realize. Your dog has figured out that, "If I bark she'll give me a treat." You are rewarding him/her for behavior you don't want. Stop it. Consider this free advice from a former dog breeder, trainer and show exhibitor.
