I've been working professionally in Moho for about a decade now. I love this concept! I heard they had toyed around with a lighting system years back. Hopefully, they can implement something like this in the future.

Glad I found this channel, seriously. I always wondered how to create 2d animations to look like 3d animation (not frame by frame animation), and when I saw your video about that monkey.....I was really happy that I finally found my need! Quick questions: Is moho light weight? Is moho similar to adobe animate or adobe character animation or open toonz? Is adobe animate, character animator or open toonz better than moho? Is moho easier than the ones I mentioned? I don't know if you've used the other programs, but I expect that at least you know their features and if their bad or good. I am a beginner, that's why I want to know if moho is beginner friendly more than the mentioned programs. Thank you very much, you are talented! BTW, you can work on Fiverr for animations and I am positive that you will be making a lot of money!

Hi Saleh, I somehow missed your questions when you posted them 5 months ago, sooooo sorry. Anyway, I'll try to answer them now. Moho is lightweight? Not really, Moho can be installed on older operating systems, but this is not recommended as there might be instabilities. Moho will not work on anything older than Windows 7 (version 6.1) or macOS 10.10. I've been playing with Blender with regard to 2d and I'm always amazed how lightweight it is compared to Moho. Moho isn't that bad - I first used it on a really old laptop (Windows 7), but I do notice now having a better computer with a powerful graphics card has sped up rendering videos. Is Moho similar to Adobe Animate or Character Animator or Open Toonz? I have used Open Toonz, especially when I was starting out and know that they have added a lot more functionality since then. A lot of these tools can accomplish the same end but some use slightly better methods or have tools to make it an easier ride. Character Animator has a similar puppet character setup, however, its power is that it captures your performance (via webcam) and does a lot of the animating for you. Depending on which type of animation you want to use - frame by frame traditional 2d, cutout/puppet like, vector characters with smart bones 3d simulated head/body turns, you will have more or less help from your animation software. They all do a little of each to some degree or another. Often paying more, you get a better set of tools, Toon Boom Harmony covers a lot of features but will have a slightly different work flow from Moho, Open Toonz or Animate. Blender is totally free, but will cost you time when learning how to use it, but it also has a lot of powerful tools. Krita is free but really focuses on frame by frame animations (great drawing brushes etc). Moho is probably a good middle of the road software, doing a little of everything, it comes as Moho Debut (which is a cut down version but good to start with) and Moho Pro which is feature rich (a little pricey - I bought a copy for $50 when it was Anime Studio, upgraded when it was on sale and then won a version of Moho Pro 13 so I might not have bought it straight off the shelf). I am currently looking at using open source software more, so I'm trying out Blender, Grease Pencil, to do the same sort of animation as I do in Moho (I'm just putting out a character head tutorial for intermediate users of Blender - if you're interested). Is adobe animate, character animator or open toonz better than moho? I feel that each application will have its strengths and weaknesses. If you are an expert in any one of them then you can quickly produce amazing animations - you just might have to work harder in one than the other. Personally, I feel a program like Moho gives more freedom than something like character animator, but with more freedom there is more setup and more to manually animate. Adobe animate can achieve amazing results, especially with its smooth brushes and drawing tools, certainly better for frame by frame animations. Moho has strengths in its rigging abilities (and simplicity of setting these up) and is slowly adding more drawing tools for frame by frame (still not that great). The real power of Moho is its smart bones (pre-animated actions that you can control and mix with controls), this helps you create a versatile puppet like character that is smooth and adds flexibility when animating. Open Toonz will keep on getting better but will be a little bit behind the paid for apps with regard to features. Is moho easier than the ones I mentioned? Moho has an ok learning curve, but it comes with tutorials to quickly get you using its features. There are lots of tutorials on Animate and Open Toonz, perhaps less on Moho but when it comes down to it, you will excel in any application you chose to learn well. Animation is less about the application and more about the rigs or animator. You can have a poorly designed rigged character (making animation a chore) in any of these apps. I do, however, feel that Moho was pretty easy to pick up. Just have a look at my old videos on this channel to see how I quickly progressed. When it all comes down to it, more features doesn't always translate to better workflow or ease of use. I'm sure that whatever software you learn, you can use to great effect. So there you go, lots of typing but very little help :) When I used Open Toonz I did find myself losing work as I wasn't saving my projects correctly - starting out like that was a bit of a bummer. Moho is definitely beginner friendly, especially if you make your way through the included tutorials. But I would encourage you learn the ideas behind the software so that you can be happy to use whatever tools that are available. I hope that you are still into animating, that you find the right software for you and that some day we'll see something amazing come to life on your channel :) Sorry again for the late response and thanks for your kind encouragement!!! All the best with animating. Joel

@@SketchySquirrel I read your whole comment and I really appreciate it! I bought a high end gaming pc now because my old one is since 2010. I like animating, but now I am more into developing games. I still want to create short animation movies, but now I discovered game development, I think mixing skeletal animations with games is fun! I also have found an extremely powerful animation software called "dragon bones pro", which is completely free and you will be shocked by the amount of features it offers. I also use the "Godot" game engine which is really easy to make games with and open source. If you are interested in game dev, give it a try (that's why I mentioned the game engine). Also, I hope you try dragon bones and see animations made with it! Thanks for your thorough (I don't know the fucking spelling) comment.

Very interesting! Is this in a 3D animator or 2D perspective animator?
@SketchySquirrel

This 2D emulating 3D, however Moho also has 3D staging, to help with parallax effects, however in this demonstration, I am using 2D only.

Nice work , just got to see this video now and I love it . But could you please explain the process very well I'm yet to understand what you did . I'm using moho as a beginner. Sorry to compare , pop toogi gives one a detailed explanation and one can easy understand his teachings . Yours is cool but I need a detailed explanation cause I learn from details . I will also like to link up with you for a better understanding of the program and animation too. Any means to chat you up one on one ?
