Castle Leoch Walkthrough Present day Scotland(As seen on Outlander season 1). 

U can "FEEL" the history and lives within the walls. Just to look at the ancient stones grabs me.

Visited Doune Castle many years ago, long before the TV hype. Have a lasting memory of an unusual feature of the building - sadly not shown on the video - on an upper level (laird's bedroom) of a recessed "double bed" space cut directly into the stone walls, which would have had straw or rushes then furs etc laid on the stone surface to make a very comfortable and warm bed, sheltered by the enclosing walls from the cold winter draughts. Havent seen a similar feature elsewhere in other Scottish castles.

When you stood at any of the windows, did you ever think about those who stood in that very spot before you? And wondered what they were thinking while they did?

The history of Scotland is mind boggling , it is every where one looks , one cannot miss it it surrounds our nation , and will never leave our heart .

It's just crazy that all the well kept castles in Scotland were once a home and full of folk.

This is the next best thing to being there in person, which those of us in the US can't do yet (i.e., travel). I'm new to this whole Outlander experience as I decided to watch the first season two weeks ago on Netflix while thinking "16 episodes - oh I'll never get through this!" The next thing I knew I reached the end of Season 3 a few days ago! Haha!

I wish I lived in those days. A harsh life is a rich life.

Doune Castle was built by Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany (c. 1340 - 3 September 1420), a great grandson of Robert the Bruce. He was my 16th great-grandfather. It is indeed humbling to think my ancestors walked the halls of this castle.

Ah Castle Doune, a great example of medieval architecture and worth seeing. A wonderful Stewart castle, the same Stewart clan who married into my kin, Clan MacLeod. The village of Doune is beautiful and looks so picturesque and worth stopping into. Hopefully, I will get to visit this historically wonderful castle and learn more about it's history in the near future.

it helps to see the way they constructed buildings cause it makes you think why they were built that way what could have had influence on how they built a building of that magnitude and size

Well, that was extremely frustrating. I think would have loved it if you'd just slowed down & talked to us about what you were seeing instead of the annoying Outlander music spinning the camera around quickly. But perhaps putting it on RU-vid and sharing it might have been an afterthought

Thank You : you just feel the history ozing to be told. I for one would like to time travel. My mothers irish ancestry goes back to 2-4 century before Christianity was even told. BC.) the druids kept very good records of things , they think even before that. Back to Castle, I would not be afaid to spend a day or night by myself. Just hear the walls talk of things so come out historically and for me to adventure such an event. There is a show called If Walls Could Talk. Great show. Love outlander except for nudity and rape.

thanks for sharing it with us! but please ... use a gimbal for phones and it is much smoother. Also don't do these fast changes, also if you want to show something catch it with the camera, count to let's say 5 and continue. These fast and uncontrolled looking movements make you feel a little bit sick watching it But it was great to see it - we love the series

If you guys vacation on a budget Try visit Indonesia Indonesian street foods very delicious as delicious as authentic as good as any food You don't have to stay in 5 stars hotel You can just rent a room from the local You don't have to shop at fancy Super Market or fancy Department store You guys can shop at Traditional open market Rent is cheap Cost of living very reasonable You can stretch your dollars farther if you stay in Indonesia Indonesia has very low crime rate and pretty safe Indonesian street foods very delicious as delicious as authentic as good as any food
