I thought he would be boring to me, half expected him to be since plain human characters in fantasy worlds is rarely entertaining to me and because whips never were cool to me (though that might be because they were the only lame weapon in dark souls lol). I really like vampires lol. But Trevor really won me over. He’s charismatic and funny, and he makes the whip badass.

A little disappointed you guys fixated so much on Alucard's name being backwards for Dracula that you missed the whole segment about how the Speakers intentionally kept stalling about leaving partly in order to keep Trevor around to fulfill the prophecy of waking up Alucard. So for those who complained about that in episode 3 it turns out they weren't being dumb back then, they were thinking ahead of everyone 😅

Thanks for mentioning it though would have liked more self-reflection about calling them dumb back in episode 3 between Sipha's magic and the need to fullfill the prophecy. They had it under control in the end as it turns out 😉

I wanted to mention before that I love how Trevor and Dracula essentially start in the same place. They both resent everyone and are trying to convince themselves they couldn’t care less is they all died for what they did to them, Trevor for his home and family, Dracula for Lisa. I always thought that was interesting.

Alucard's hair was never white, in fact in his original design his hair was dark, but later it was changed to light blonde, and that was the one that became most popular, however, Juste Belmont, Trevor's descendant from Harmony of Dissonance, has white hair.

Speaking to the question at the end: Yes, in Balkan folklore the child of a human and vampire is known as a "Dhampir," often possessing limited vampiric powers but also fewer of their weaknesses too. It was also said dhampir would often become hunters of witches and vampires, so most dhampir in popular fiction fall into this vein (no pun intended): Alucard, D from "Vampire Hunter D", and Blade from the Marvel comics. Heck, in one of the old Gameboy Castlevania prequel games (now considered non-canon), Sophia Belmont and Alucard has a child, which is how the Belmonts gained their power to fight monsters.

The complete deconstruction of the Bishop's delusions of piety and righteousness is still one of my favorite scenes in the show. And with the humble priest being able to make actual holy water, we see that there are sacred powers in this world, not just the infernal, but that the will of the church can be a very different thing than the will of god.

In Castlevania 3, Alucard is recruited after you fight him in an underground lair; where he was sleeping in a coffin. We also get a reference to the holy water sub weapon, as well as two of Sypha's spells in the game (fire and ice). Another nod to game, is that if you use Sypha's ice spell on water stages, it will freeze the water solid; making the level considerably easier. There was one more character you could recruit in Casltevania 3, Grant Danast, but sadly he was left out of the show; although he does get referenced at the start of season 3.

Lords of Shadow is actually a reboot, other 3d games from the original canon are Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness and those are way older. Fun fact: the Belmont crest you see in this show is actually based on the Belmont crest from Lords of Shadow

The whip is a perfect weapon for a vampire hunter. Vampires move superhumanly fast, a whip is probably the only thing that can keep up with one since the tip can break the sound barrier.

15:00 To be fair, in episode 1 of this season, Alucard wanted to go after the people who were responsible for his mother's death and leave innocent people out of it. Dracula wants to kill everyone. Alucard tried to reason and stop Dracula but now, he has no choice but to kill him.

6:45 - The people were fine with murder because they were living their lives until hordes of monsters descended upon them and butchered everyone they loved without explanation and they were angry and terrified, so the Church deflected blame upon the Speakers to keep their focus away from them (anger and revenge are the easiest qualities to manipulate in society). So once Trevor revealed the Church was responsible they not only knew who was truly to blame but it was the very Church they'd served their entire lives, so to them their anger was reinforced by betrayal. When society's pillars collapse and enough people are pissed off notions of good and bad are thrown out the window whatever the consequences. The French Revolution is a good example of that.

Get Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that originally came for Playstation and then I believe its on PSP now too. That's the game with Alucard as the main character and it would be a great one for you guys to play. It still holds up really well and its so cool to play as Alucard.

20:10 You don't know but the reason why Alucard didn't come out in the whole season was because a blow from Dracula's claws destroys any normal vampire since he is practically the king of the race and nobody can beat him, Alucard was the first to stand up against dracula his father for saving humans because if you look when dracula's wife was dying she screamed to have mercy on them and not to hurt them, she was begging to her son "alucard" because she knew he was there seeing everything and his mother knew that he would kill everyone for it. since his son is the second most powerful and lethal vampire in the entire kingdom.

Lore wise Vampires who have children with humans are called half-vampires or "dhampir", Alucard is one example, as well as Capcom's Dark Stalker series named Donovan Baine, the monster slayer dhampir.

Poor Grant getting the shaft since he isn't in this. In the games there were 4 people in the group. Trevor the vampire hunter. Alucard son of Dracula. Sypha the "male" magician. Well I wouldn't say that, they sorta pull a Metriod Samus Aran and do the reveal at the end but I digress. The 4th person in the game is a thief named Grant who you get before the other two.
