I don't understand all the hate around this game. I was a child when I played it, but I remember it as kinda challenging, fun game. It scared the sh1t out of me sometimes (That skeleton on flor... damn it, I know it would move) and it was difficult, but I don't think it was bad at all. Damn, I'm going to replay it to test it out :D
It has a great Atmosphere, Ideas and such but the Camera and Controls yeah even the Combat is clunky as hell. This made the Game to a frustrating Mess then an actual fun Game. You should try Legacy of Darkness it fixes many Problems of this one.
You know, when you think about it... Malus is exactly the same as Soma, a full reincarnation of Dracula. But since the castle wasn't sealed, Chaos wormed its way into Malus' heart before he even knew he wanted to fight it.
bub777 well turns out that the song Malus plays is called “Opposing Bloodlines” which used to be the theme of Richter Belmont. spoiler; Malus is actually the reincarnated Dracula and after hearing of his old rival’s passing, he plays it to pay tribute to the best Belmont as the blood moon rises above his forsaken castle
Joe Sanchez *BIG SPOILER HERE* Altough this game is very old, I prefer to tag the following as spoiler: The kid playing the violin on this intro is Drácula himself.
Criminally underrated, this game was a musical masterpeice and the dark ambience drew me in completely. This game earns a permanent spot as an all-time classic on my list. Forget the plot, it was the atmosphere that kept me riveted.
I was really small when this came out, my oldest brother use to tell me that that was dracula playing the violin just to scare me. Lol I'm older now, and know that's not dracula but the thought of it does pop up still. Gives me a sinister feeling
This kind of introduction was way ahead of its time for games.I hated that Legacy Of Darkness didnt feature it,but it was like a Directors Cut from all the stuff 64 didnt have.Cornell deserved more spotlight than what he got...but the games got way too much hate either by lack of giving it a chance or people rage quit at the Castle Center level with the Magical Nitro Item.XD...but in all seriousness, the other Castlevanias didnt have that Doom&Gloom feel the 64 games had.It even had horror references like the Stained Glass Knights in the Villa level which were a nod to the Glass Knight from Young Sherlock Holmes (Which game me PTSD as a kid)...The orchestra in the 64 games were amazing too.Art Tower and the unsettling Silent Madness being my favorites.
Bloodlines in violin is freaking amazing. A lot of people dislkied this game, but i have fond memories of it. Tower of sorcery had an awesome track also. I'll never forget me and my brothet dying dozens of times trying to jump from disappearing crystal to disappearing crystal. We let our little sister try it out, 15 minutes later she's like: "i did it!" We were like: "nuh uh! No fkn way!" Sure enough she had beaten that portion. I think we paid her $20 bucks for beating it lol. Great memories of a fun game
Oh man have the memories & nostalgia came making it's way into my life again. I remember being 7 & playing this game a lot. I fell in love with the intro. It's such a beautiful masterpiece. I think there should be an orchestra for this game. The music is phenomenal & breath taking. If there were a re make of this game, I'd be the 1st to buy it.
The same happened to me ♥ I played it when I was 6 or 7 years old, back in 2002. I totally fell in love with the game´s music ♥ I have it on my computer and I play it sometimes (until I get mad because I don´t have a control u.u)
Can't emphasize how much I freaking love this game and the theme for it, holy crap. Definitely a part of my childhood history. Even to this day, I find myself playing this fantastic game over and over again.
This game, OMG. The only vampires-based Castlevania before LoS... and the only one with awesome scenery (encounter with the villager-vampire, the vampire-couple boss, the spiderwoman bathing, the Virgin statue tearing blood, and so on...). CV64 has its defaults, but it also has wonderful pros.
This game is awesome. I remember playing this when I was a kid. Brings back some good memories. I love the music, and some of the stages look beautiful too.
This song gives me the chills first time i played it o switched it off at the first battle cause i wimped out since then this song has been synonymous with both pant shitting terror and beauty not to mention the pain in the ass difficulty
Ahhh, memories. I borrowed this from a friend back in the day and i was engrossed by it. I lived it, and every waking minute of my life was spent playing it until i beat it. I loved the music, i loved the storyline and i loved the atmosphere. I even remember seeing a guide for it in Nintendo power.
This and Legacy of Darkness are still among my favorites... I remember every day during my summer vacation, Castlevania 64 would be played until it was beat. Great memories
It's a shame that Castlevania 64 was removed from being canon. This introduction is actually really dark if you followed the timeline of the series until that point. The piece he is playing on his violin, Bloodlines, is well known as the main theme of Richter Belmont. We now know from the other titles that Richter, in 1792, was the very last Belmont until the grand return of Julius in 1999. At the time of Castlevania 64 ,around 1850, there was therefore no more Belmont to oppose him. He makes sure to reminds us by playing this chilling requiem on his violin.
@@brzr5458 In the current canon, using the whip without being a Belmont consumes the soul of the wielder as seen with John Morris's fate. The sole exception is Jonathan Morris in 1945 who makes a pact with the soul within it through the same extremely complex alchemy that originally created the weapon. Reinhardt couldn't have possibly used the Vampire Killer and lived since he was not a Belmont. Castlevania 64 is already confirmed to not be canon by Konami, but say we pretend that it's not the case, either Reinhardt is not wielding the actual Vampire Killer but some other whip of the same name. Or he may be a Belmont descendant in some way even though it's confirmed in the official timeline that the whip's last worthy wielder until Jonathan was Richter, John having died from using it at the end of Bloodlines.
my first console And my first game, my dad gave it to me when i was 10 years old. i remember ts game N' this intro song, always And forever, to the day when i die or when i im one crazy Old and forget it. :')
Este tema me vuelve a mi niñez, por lo único que me preocupaba era por acabar este videojuego, Cúa ta nostalgia momentos que jamás volverán como quisiera volver a ser niño😢😢😢😢😢😢
I never got to play this game seriously when we bought it for the N64. My rumble pack just happened to break when we got it, so I could never save at the white jewels. You can imagine why I never kept playing it. Years later, I got it on PC on an emulator and beat it several times. Amazing game.
+ICouldn'tThinkofaCreativeUsername The Rumble Pak (振動パック Shindō Pakku?)is an accessory which provides haptic feedback to the player by way of vibration. It is powered by two AAA batteries and connects to the controller's expansion port. It was released in 1997 for the new game Star Fox 64 or Lylat Wars, with which it was originally bundled.
This was the very first Castlevania game I had ever played. Even though it drove me crazy at times, I don't regret one moment of playing this classic game. Hearing Opposing Bloodlines again fills me with nostalgia.
One of my favorite songs and game.. if anyone can tell me where to find the full song I would appreciate it... I love this song to death its been in my head since I was 8 years old
This game has so good graphics (for the time), so good music, so good atmosphere. Entertaining story and characters... This song is one of the best video game intro songs I've ever seen together with the choir for Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. This game had so much potential. It really had it all... but it all was ruined by the stiff and unforgiving controls... :(
watched this as the last light in the sky faded away. Perfectly timed it as well, i watched a thin strip of clouds moving along the edge until they submerged and smothered the last light. one day i'll feel normal again.
Honestly, I would get an n64 JUST to get the castlevania games. Even though Legacy of Darkness is FAR superior to Castlevania 64 and is the true version, it loses points for not having this song in the title screen.
I loved this game, I remember crapping myself playing in the dark with my little brother. And that intro is badass. I use to keep it playing in the background.
This song is amazing. I instantly fell in love with it the first time I heard it. It's been a while since then. It just fits the game perfectly. I especially love the piano at the end.
This game got me hooked on Castlevania series! My second games was Portrait of ruin and hearing Richter's (Whip's memory) theme made me a loyal Richter Belmont fan. He also wears my favorite color!
I still remember the first time I heard this wonderful intro, I was 13 years old more and less, and I found that this kind of music just blow my mind, I love violin music :)
I swear the Vila stage creeped the absolute shit outta me back in the day...one of the only games that truly creeped me out; I slept that night with the light on, no joke!
Playing this game when I was 7 years old, the horrors of vampires and skeletons stuck out to me. Thanks for the vid, I think I'm going to play through this again
Yes!! My favorite Castlevania Intro of all time, yes I even love it over Super Castlevania 4’s shattering tombstone intro, this is just fitting for a Castlevania game. It’s also honoring that Richter was the last Belmont to stop him the previous Century and now that he is long gone and the whip is cursed, no one can stand up to Dracula’s power now. It gets you prepared for this upcoming battle with an orchestrated horror beginning to start off the ballad and then it drifts into a sad violin solo to honor the past. I just love it, it almost brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it.
O, man I can't tell how many cases of beer I went through, ,but I beat all the endings. Cool @ the time and Castlevania IMHO has some of the BEST gaming music.
