Now we need a DS collection with Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia.

I'd never played the original games. I beat all three GBA Castlevanias this past week because they are so fun and addicting. They were awesome! And so is this collection, filled with extras and plays flawlessly. Konami did a great job for once. Hoping for a DS collection next

I want a Castlevania DS collection.

I play Cotm as a kid. The opening screen scares the heck out of me and my little brother. But we keep playing. The first area before entering catacomb sounds eerie too. But, as soon as I enter catacomb, the music just hook me in right away lmao. Awake is such a good soundtrack

Now that we've got advance collection, how about aiming for DS collection now?

This almost feels pro-consumer, since I've never played Aria based purely on price.

Gonna be nice to finally play Aria. Dawn of Sorrow was cool but had the crappy stylus stuff to finish bosses. It'll be neat to play as Soma and not have to deal with that.

This is easily the definitive way to play and experience these games. What I like about it is that it trumps emulation entirely - just like the capcom megaman games, this collection offers so much value you just can't get with basic emulation. It's retro re-release done right and one people are obviously willing to shell out money for. It was an easy purchase. Can't wait for the DS collection because that one is going to be amazing too.

I am so beyond thrilled that they actually decided to make this Circle of the moon was one of my favorite games ever I couldn't believe at the time that they made such a well-crafted Castlevania title in the style of symphony of the night, rather than just some 2D side scroller That soundtrack was so amazing too for just GBA music Never actually got to play any of the further portable Castlevania titles and I am so stoked to finally get to Only on a much more convenient and capable portable Nintendo console I think they still did a couple for the Nintendo DS and I want to see those at some point too!

Great review of a great collection. It's a shame people are nitpicking the hell out of this, as vengeance from a unrelated decade old drama. I'm ecstatic to have this collection at my hands. Such nostalgia for genuine well made games that really hold up.

one cool thing about harmony of dissonance is when you beat it you can start a new file and name it MAXIM and play as the character Maxim instead ofJuste which is pretty cool.

Bought this for Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow. Was not disappointed.

Harmony of dissonance is the most underrated Castlevania game of all time in my opinion. And it's soundtrack is excellent, but it gets a bad rap because of the 8-Bit sound quality

I just bought this pack the other week when it was on sale. I was on the fence between this or the bundle of the originals, especially since the only Castlevania I ever played was CotM and the original collection was slightly cheaper. But based on what I've seen on the originals, they have NOT AGED NEARLY AS WELL as the GBA games. (Knockback bullshit being the main reason). The only one I would have actually enjoyed would've been Super Castlevania 4. So I went with this... And boy oh boy am I glad I have. I'm currently about 85+% of the way through Aria, with about 85-90 % of souls, and I've been essentially running through it. Going for 100% and I will probably get it. Additionally, the extra emulation features they've added are AMAZING. Being able to rewind bosses so I can be sure to get their souls, or to rewind an annoying death (not that I've really had more than one), save states in case I need to stop playing but I'm not near a save point, PLUS as he mentioned, the encyclopedia and the enemy info on the side regarding the important things they drop (DSS cards in CotM, souls in Aria, etc.)! All of these things are GREAT inclusions and QoL updates. It's nice to be able to skip some bullshit that happens with rewind, and, in one instance, *the rewind saved me from a GAME BREAKING BUG:* I was going through a door and got hit back off the ledge while opening the door and walking through it, and got stuck under the door in the walking animation, with no ability to do ANYTHING since Soma was mid animation. When entering a door it does an animation you can NOT cancel, and I had just gotten pretty far without saving, so being able to rewind even a few seconds saved my add from having to replay an entire 10-30 minute segment. I'll play CotM again or Harmony after Aria for sure. Idk why CotM got the hate it did, I loved it as a kid and still have my copy. Again, regarding the other 3, it's my first time playing any of them, and I'm loving Aria so far.

If they make a ds collection with order of eclesia and I'll probably by it, but if I could have any one specific castlevania make a return on modern systems, it would be harmony of despair. Yes the one that could be played with 6 players through online with characters through out the 2-D series. Plus getsufuma. I'd love that specific castlevania to make a return.

I had no idea my original GBA copies were worth so much. Anyway, I'll wait to see if Limited Run ends up releasing this physically before I bother.

I didn’t really care for Castlevania Dracula X, but the other games I was really impressed with they played very similar to Symphony of the Night and those are just handheld games.

I've only played Circle of the Moon. May pick this up and play Harmony and Aria.

Its a great collection but it should be noted that the credit of the compilation's quality should be given to M2, which Konami outsourced. I doubt Konami makes effort like this on their own lol

I’ve got an “always run” hack installed on my GBA copy of Circle of the Moon. It’s really too bad they didn’t include enhancements like this in this collection.

It's a shame with the gba games that they didn't had that feature in the mega man collections. Where changing the controls doesn't change what's accept and back in the menus

Circle of the Moon is the best Castlevania game besides SotN. This game is worth the price alone. Yeah Aria is good, but most people missed Circle since it was an early release on GBA. Don’t miss out on that game OR the soundtrack!

Why can’t they just give us a collection with all the 2D Castlevania games but they are a company so they won’t do that instead make us by multiple collections to play these games on consoles.

For me, I would probably only purchase this collection if the games were remastered with new assets and up-res'd.

Whoa Castlevania has stats?

Picked these up on Wii U. Not sure I'll get this at full price as a result. After I complete the inverted SOTN castle, probably will play through Aria and call it good. Hopefully Konami releases Castlevania Adventure Rebirth from the Wii. It's not a gamechanger but it is fun! But mostly, I'm too lazy to boot up the Wii menu on the U..

Where is symphony of the night? It has as much right to be on the collection since rondo/Dracula x wasn’t on the gbs either.

Dracula X is the best looking one out of the four games. Why? Because none of the games have CRT filters! The GBA games look rough. Especially on widescreen.

Shame it didn't come with the DS games like Portrait of Ruin(my personal favorite of the portable 'Vanias).

Hey I played the emulated version of Dracula X And even the emulator version has the option menu on the title screen Meaning kanami Dracula X In the advanced collection Is a reproduction of the game basically built from the ground up for the collection it is not the original released version it is not the virtual version it is not an emulator version it is not the super nintendo version of Dracula X it is an impostor Because the real emulated version and virtual version and super nintendo version of Dracula X all of them had the option menu on the title screen where you can customize your controller set up or change from mono to stereo music Castlevania Dracula X emulator version and superintendent version and virtual console version All had an option menu on the title screen that was similar to the same option menu features found in Mega man X1 and 2 what the same features for controller customization and changing from monotasterio sound Even in the original casavania anniversary collection Castlevania 4 Still has its option menu And so do a lot of the turtle's games in the kawamunga collection have their option menus and even the megaman X series in their collections have their option menus even in Mega man 0 collections have their option menus And they were originally released on gameboy Advance And super nintendo and nintendo and they still have their option menus So how come Dracula X In Castlevania advance Collection does not have its option menu on the title screen of Dracula X which makes it feel like a fake One considering emulator versiand the virtual console version And the super nintendo version All have Dracula X with an option menu on the title screen how come the castlevania Avenue Collection Dracula X does not have the option menu which makes fans feel like it's a fake Dracula X considering

While I'm super happy about owning this on switch it does make me feel annoyed because it seems like nintendo won't be adding GB, GBC or GBA to the retro collections. Like if this sells well they might conclude that demand is too high to give it away for free, if it doesn't sell well they could conclude that no one wants the retro games on the system. These systems should have been apart of the retro systems on switch a long time ago.

Funny, the aspect ratio in the footage of this video doesn’t match my experience on PS4. The option to change aspect are kinda limited and weird I think

I wonder what the GBA double pack is going for. That’s the only thing stopping me, I have all of them to play already. But this is REALLY tempting. I want it to sell well so they give us the DS Castlevania games. I didn’t think Dracula X was that hard but fighting Dracula on those tiny little platforms was on of the most frustrating things I’ve seen in a game.

Developers who are hesitant to release older games in-fear that it's all for naught because emulation is so wide-spread should look at releases like this. The original devs for these titles have far more resources, and if you can't compete with a free emulator and fan made HD packs: Do original stuff your self that the emulation community cant. Built in-art gallery's, hell- some collections are having modes where the game just plays and you can jump in at any moment. You could even go the extra mile and maybe do dev commentary. The point is that there's a lot of options you can bring to the table and we will pay for it.

Just get repro carts if you want the games on carts. They are affordable.

Dracula X has actually never been re-released.

The real question is .... Are achievements worth 20bucks... The answer is no. But if it goes on sale for 5 or 10 then maybe with points but other than that naw.

I would have rather gotten Rondo of Blood than these games. Aria of Sorrow is decent but the RNG mechanic is terrible. Circle of the Moon is awful. Doesn't feel anything like Castlevania. Harmony is better and worse at the same time. I'm glad people enjoy these games, but I seriously don't care for any of the post-SotN games.
