Castlevania: Jon's Challenge - PART 1 - Game Grumps

The problem is that Arin was the straight-man of game grumps, but Dan is even more of a straight-man. Once Jon left the show, Arin then tried a bit too hard to awkwardly bring back that same energy that came so naturally with Jon. and Dan can actually get into that goofy Jon-type mood, it’s just really uncommon, usually only when he’s sleep deprived. That’s why Yoshi’s cookie is one of my favorite Dan grumps series. Jon and Arin’s dynamic is so full of energy, it just comes to them naturally, but Dan is far too chill to bring that energy to the show. Dan grumps feels way more natural when they’re just relaxing and talking to each other, it’s at it’s best as just a show to listen to, whereas Jon grumps is a show that holds my full attention. That’s probably why the longest running Dan grumps series are always the ones where the game itself is mostly superfluous. I still love game grumps, I’d never even think of abandoning the show, but not once in the 8 years since Jon left the show has it reached the consistent gold of Jon grumps at it’s peak, those series where Jon and Arin are just having so much fun being total idiots together. Whoops, that’s a loooooong comment right there.

Jon was also "the fat one" and Arin was "the skinny one" while Arin is now "the fat one" and Dan is now "the skinny one", lol

@@BiasedGuy123 I get what you're saying. Since Jon and Arin are both hardcore gamers, they can talk about their opinions on the games and understand each other. Dan, on the other hand, is more of a casual gamer than a hardcore one only because of how long he's been on the show for. He doesn't even play most of the games on the show, and if he does, its almost always a game or a game from a series he played during his childhood. He can't have these detailed discussions with Arin about games because he's not a gamer. It's like if Dan wanted to talk about his favorite musical artists, he can't have a detailed discussion with Arin about his favorite artists because Arin isn't a hardcore musician. ( Sorry for the massive paragraph. )

That's because Arin hasn't done anything with his life for years besides just Game Grumps. Meanwhile, Dan is out here making successful life moves with his music/band, which is giving me the signal that Game Grumps may not be the ONLY thing he wants to do for the rest of his life. I mean, he's nearly 40 for fuck sake. Also Jon has been thriving with his own channel. And what have we heard that Arin's done in the past 2.5+ years? ABSOLUTELY jack fuck. I'm not hating on Arin, it's just become obvious based on what we've seen from each of them throughout the years.

And lemme tell ya, it was great hearing Jon challenge or question Arin's nonsense instead of just sitting back and going "Oh, I guess you're right, I learned something today!", like Dan too often does. For fuck's sake, Arin has Dan believing Alucard is Dracula. One of the only things I've ever heard Dan actually challenge Arin about was during Sonic Boom when he finally got tired of Arin doing nothing but mindlessly bash the shit out of the whole Sonic franchise and openly discuss his plans to make an anti-Sonic Sequelitis video just to piss the fans off.

Cubby Bear I noticed that Arin usually moderates himself and is less harsh on things that Jon likes when talking to Jon.

What I find funny is that Arin was pretty much saying "Castlevania 4 has no challenge" in his sequelitus video, and when he played it on grumps he fucking sucked.

I get what you are saying, but when Arin was complaining about that, He was talking about Zelda, which is a totally different genre of games, therefore having different design principles. In Ocarina, you get an item, you use it in the dungeon, and then you use it on the boss. Very predictable. Castlevania is a side-scrolling action platformer. You don't know what's up ahead or what item you might find, but the game tries to reward your exploration (hitting walls for meat, or breaking candles for hearts) with an item that will be useful up ahead. If you aren't breaking candles, you might miss out on that item that could turn the tide of battle for you, but even if you don't get it, you still have a chance. The items in Ocarina are necessary, and its obvious that the boss is weak to the item you just got.

Also you dont need to use the sub weapons and the holy water which makes death easier to fight is at the begining of his stage not right before him

Imo I think he said that in sequelitus cause it was in level 1 it's teaching you how to play the game.

I can't say I prefer one set over the other, but they both have their strong suits. But I guess I pick the more recent stuff just because that's what I started with.
