These are a few things to look for prior to buying an old piece of heavy equipment, specifically a tract loader. These are things I have learned from talking to others that have bought and operated heavy equipment. This should help those that are thinking of buying a heavy equipment piece to get started in business or for just for cleaning up around a farm.

Really fun to see a 955 alive and working. My dad had an excavating company and we had a 955 and 933. They were great to drive but that was way before ergonomic enclosed cabs. As you know, you back up about 50% of the time which means your left ear gets way more direct exposure to the exhaust than the right. As I got older I became a teacher and kept flunking the hearing test...especially the left ear. Have fun!

GREAT PRICELESS ADVICE from a man of many talents ~~ I was considering buying a 955K to dig an additional pond for my brother's birthday ~ I had a construction company including several pieces of heavy equipment back in the 1970s until the construction came to a screeching haul ~ lol ~ Now in the legal and hotel/casino business but still have the smells and hand's on working in my blood ~ Viewed many of your videos and surely you are a man of many talents ~ Thanks Again for your time & sharing - Jimbo / SC

New Subscriber, In Australia we call them Drotts but this is the first really well-done explanation of all the stuff that usually gets forgotten, and it's so nice to see the experience that helps people out because a lot of this equipment still has productive lives in the right hands but there are a lot of people selling machines that really have serious issues and costly rebuilds needed. So thanks for taking the time to make this and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Cheers From Garry from Australia

A fun versatile machine but expensive to maintain with everyday use. I worked for a guy that had a 977 with a D7 bulldozer undercarriage and tracks. Made for one helluva dig rig. One turn with a full bucket would carve out enough dirt to fill the bucket on your 955!!

What kind of oil should I use for the bevel gear?
@PharmToFarm
@PharmToFarm 2 года назад
Should be 30 weight. I think it is transmission oil.

Hello, where is the serial number located on the 955K?
@PharmToFarm
@PharmToFarm Год назад
Should be on the right side just off of the instrument panel on the frame. It is a metal plate with the number stamped on it.

The exhaust cover bolt came loose and I have not replaced it as of yet. That is on my list of things to do. I think that bucket adds a little class to the loader. LOL

How much does it cost
@PharmToFarm

Depending on the age and shape the equipment is in. Anywhere from $8,000 to $12,000 for a fifty year old machine.
