I'm in Scotland and want to say your a very genuine cool guy with a big heart and a fair bit of determination. I work on machines like this every day and for 30 years so if you need advice just let me know. To free that engine off just remove the injectors and pour some release oil into the cylinders then leave for a week, then remove the starter and with a suitable bar try and turn the flywheel to and fro slowly and continue till free. Good luck.
Thank you for saving them. I grew up running multiple 977's with my Grandfather in Yosemite creating the waste treatment plant. These are beasts and move a lot of dirt. Great memories
Anyone else laughing when the mighty Case 450B pulled up next to those beasts? At that moment we thought... what kind of mess did we get ourselves into!!
Love that you have the opportunity to save them. it makes great contact to breathe new life into them. once all the hard work is done always some out their sees the value will want them.
I’ve ran 973’s and even a very rare 983 extensively. My worst fears are the transmission. The engines and be fixed. Now I’ve clicked the subscriber button. I’m on board!
You did the right thing. Thanks for keeping us old CAT skinners happy NOW can you get the Cub Cadet in a shed and think about getting her restored to her former glory, please?
I'm glad to see these old machines be saved. I would be interested to see if it is a fuel knock or not. The other machine if you can't get the engine free seems like it could be a good parts machine for the nicer of the two.
Don't change the pump first, get it cranked and loosen each fuel line individually and see if it does not change the sound on one and if you find one that does not change, get an injector nozzle first.
I can hear the nervous anticipation in your voice!! Ha ha!! I genuinely hope this works out well for you, your family and your channel. On a 'side note', I love this kind of content, so I've sub'd. Looking forward to the journey.
good luck. hope you can achieve the goals you set here. also brunt needs to send you a nice new pair of boots. tell em bücket says so (they look pretty cool on their web page)
3306 engine common many trucks and older equipment used. Easy to find . Look up "Old forge power " in Pennsylvania. They have hundreds of used engines parts etc. Transfer pump has nothing to do with noise.. Sounds like wrist pin slap. Good luck 👍 S
One more thought before buying injection nozzles remove engine oil filter,if spin on filter use hack saw and cut outer case at top so you can remove filter cartridge inside of filter case . Use knife and cut cartridge so it can be spread out like a accordion to see how much metal is visage. If cartridge is fairly clean ,buy the injection nozzles. If cartridge is full of metal or bearing material figure on dissably of engine
Between the two you can make one decent machine and use the other for parts, you have a great piece of american construction equipment history. Best of luck, can't wait to see how it goes 👍👍
@@dieseJL Hey thank you for sharing this video, When I was a kid the city of Newark NJ had its own demolition dept and had 2 of them and helped start my love for heavy equipment 👍
I’m curious, roughly what does a Lowboy cost per mile? I know they are different cost/charges per equipment but was just wondering what an average per mile was.
I couldn’t hear the knock increase when you rev’d the motor. If the knock was related to a moving part inside then motor wouldn’t the knock increase with rpm’s??
This is great! You listen to viewers' text, and you bought two old used up machines. 😅 Which is great.... these old machines are capable of running for years. No computers. When you have to chase that electrical ghost, it's a nightmare.
Buy 6 new injectors nozzles . Located in cylinder head. Remove injection lines use 1 inch socket, unscrew retaining nut ,pull up stem with nozzle screwed on end. Install new nozzle on stem finger tight .install stem and nozzle in cylinder head install new o ring on retaining nut. , install install retaining nut and torque nut to 100 lbs .install injector lines lose crank over engine to bleed lines and tighten lines
if you do the work it is possible to do inframe on those machines then you would have some saleable units those still will do a good days work i have one of last 955l,s made never gonna get ride of it
some hard work ahead, but when they fire up and ready to work the pay off will be there. Look at the price of a new one they will or one will sell easy
Have fun finding parts I have a case 980 tracthoe it's 1973-1977 I can find parts for it I have to go to plan B find someone to make it for me the two things I need
Get some batteries and see if those kitties will crank!!! FYI bulldozers are better at pushing from the blade or pulling from the rear. Pulling backwards is kinda a no no in the bulldozer community
Sounds like fuel nock older cats win cold they nock and ping you can brake injector lines lose one at time win you do the nock will change sound get you separate oil pressure guage watch it
Turn off the location around her Apple better headed forward and you can go on backwards. Your weight is better distributed and your ha Traxxas made the pool going forward not backward I have a great day.
