i've seen in my mock that the level of passages are very high indeed and to be able to comprehend what is being said is a challenge in itself i somehow barely manage to get a few questions right and move to VA

Definitely. Extracting the main point of each paragraph in the RC really helps in comprehension and grasping the flow of ideas in the passage. You can either make mental or written notes. At the end, extract the main idea of the whole passage (mental or written note) and then move on to solving the questions.
