Learning: 3 types of questions - a) What is the summary/ tone of the paragraph For these type of questions, don't go back to paragraph, reading has to be done in such a way you are ready to tackle these question in one go. b) meaning of some sentences or words used in paragraph For these you need to revisit the passage and start eliminating the incorrect option c) which of the following options with strengthen or weaken the argument Strategy 1. Avoid extreme words like All, impossible, many, every, each etc... These are mostly indirect options 2. Majority approch: All the options might be correct, but the one which covers the majority of the point is the correct option 3. Tone of the passage: identify the one which is align with para tone 4. Don't use external knowledge to answer RC questions 5. Avoid Incorrect linkage... Don't get confuse if there is linkages devloped in the option just because there is correlation doest not mean it with have cause and effect relation 6. Compare and eliminate each word from option
The most frustrating part about RC is when you are stuck between two options and even when doing the guess work most of the time you get the chosen option wrong
No idea main reason is we just read and don't know what the passage is saying kbhi pura sahi ho jata h kbi ek bhi nhi phir pta chla jo pure sahi hote h usme sirf option dekh ke tick mar dete h jisme nhi hota kuxh samaj nhi atH @@45-tejasmahajan84
Thnx! it helped me alot....i use to end being confused with my answers in my mocks and tests....i am preparing for ipm at and this helped me alot and lately genuinely realised that practice makes a man perfect.
Hii Bhaiya Just came across your channel a couple of days ago...you are an inspiration for all the students who are preparing for CAT...I have a request. Just like you made this video on how to decipher RC, kindly make a detailed video on how to solve para jumbles and irrelevant sentence seamlessly.
Heya ananta its a humble request can uh make a video on a whole year plan for CAT'24 preparation from now like how to start till when to complete it like basis que nd if you cover these topics in a series it would be super worthful ❤
Dont take this as promotional but since last 6 months in t.i.m.e coaching I was also confused about what do I do in these last 4 days and took Rodha’s lrdi booster course.. no doubts have ever been so clearly solved and the level of his sets>>>> please go get it for yourself
5:10 This is where I go wrong. Doesn't Symbiotic Relationshiop literally mean relying on each other and influencing each other? Why do I need to expand the option and choose option 3?
Hello sir can you make a video of how to comprehend a passage if it is in a difficult language with an example and also this video is very helpful thankyou so much for this 😊
Bhaiya I used to score very good marks in VARC.On an avg my score in VARC was above 30 but from the last 4-5 mocks it has dropped drastically Please help me tackle this
Hi Ananta according to you what should be ones target score as a GEM candidate , as there is a huge gap between percentile to score in 2021 and 2022 in the 99.5%tile+ domain. Especially what should be the target score for any GEM to get into BLACKI?
I have a lot of difficulty eliminating options, I cannot understand how to eliminate it if I don't know I will be able to eliminate it. All the options seems correct to me.
If I did not have to read the first paragraph again to understand it, I would attempt it See my cat attempt strategy video for attempt strategy of each section
what about the word most used in the option 8:05. Most is an extreme word so that should be eliminated. Now this is where i get confused whether to consider these words or not .
Thanks for the content bro❤️ Could u make a detailed video regarding Dilr, from u told practisimg previous year qns but i can't solve which takes 1-2 hours even not solving. Then look for video solution. What to do, do i need to just look the soution and go on or just try it. Let me know, be very helpful

Hlo brother could you explain if I want to write a summary of the passage then what steps i should follow and also how can i increase WPM with grabbing power in Reading section
Hi Ananta, I've been following your videos for a while now. For nearly 2 months I have been giving mocks and I could not see any improvement in my score esp quants I cant attempt more than 7 ques in the mock. I think I need some right guidance as there is only a month left for the exam. Do you think it would be better if I enroll to some advanced workshops or something else? What would be your advice? I am desperately in need of some direction as to what to do. Thanks😊
My VARC mock scores are varying a lot between 15-35,what should I do in the remaining days, for the better score. Currently Giving 2 sectional of varc regularly
Practice is the only solution! You might not see immediate results but gradually it builds up Realasing a video on dilr hacks soon. That will help you avoid difficult questions but the only way to improve is self practice!
You need to improve your focus and get less distracted probably. Try to gradually increase the reading time. Also practice meditation or doing nothing for 30-40 mins everyday to improve focus
Sir mujhe RC comprehend hi nahi hoti hai uske liye kya karna chahiye? Main CAT 23 de Raha hu aur ab mushkil se ek mahina hi bacha hai. Mujhe 25 Tak score karna hai verbal section mein aur abhi Mera score single digit hi aa Raha hai! Can you help me with this?
Hi Ananta, thank you for your insightful strategies. With hardly a month left for CAT, what should be my focus while practicing RCs? Should I focus on accuracy and letting it take a little longer for my answers to be correct? Or should I constrain myself with time and practice?
No.... do not compromise on the number of attempts at this stage. It will be difficult to improve accuracy and answering in 2 minutes or in 5 minutes would not make a difference in accuracy. Use these strategies to practise but if you think you are taking a lot of time, just focus on speed. Usually when people practice a lot of RCs with these strategies, it becomes internalized and they do not have to specifically think about it separately. If you think it's not possible in 1 month, focus on speed
Got it! I think then a good way would be to give one sectional everyday for timed practice and 1-2 hours for practicing strategies and accuracy... Thank you for your inputs Ananta!
Analyzing varc section of mocks is tough, because sometimes they eliminate option saying this is not specifically what the author says or this is out of scope and suddenly sometimes they give solution like this can be directly implied from author's statement so it's the answer. When to extend author's implication while marking answer is really tough. What do I do?
Try to understand the person writing the passage and writing the questions are two different people. So these kind of solutions in the mocks are just becsuse the question paper setter thinks it that way and it's directly implied for him (and not the author). Not necessarily your option is wrong. Use the last strategy of compare and justify snd try to come with your own logic in such cases Also, to let you know when coaching insitute came out with cat 2018 paper solution I was really scoring low in RCs based on their answers and it was mentioned in many places - directly implied in the passage. The actual cat solution was different and infact I got 22/23 correct. The coaching would have probably scored lower in answers where it was pretty obvious for them in the passage. Try to justify why your option can be wrong and that is the only thing you can do. If you are still not satisfied with the correct option, don't take it too seriously and move to the next one
me without timmer ya practice set krti jab rc slove krti hu 5 me se bs 1 hota hain but aagr mocks krti hu tho 5 me se 1 shi hota hain 😊🙂 mera life hi kharab hogaya hain shmj nai aaatta knowledge ki kami h ya dimg ki 🙂
Hello! Ananta sir, one question for you... sir sometimes I find that I just couldn't absorb the stuff in my first reading (may be due to unfamiliarity of the topic,etc)... sir in such cases should I re-read that portion? Does this thing happen during your cap prep? Please let me know. Great content btw :)
Yes, happens. First if it is in a lot of portions try to skip that passage. If that is just 1 paragraph, you can quickly re-read. Make sure you understand the passage completely! Also, this kind of thing happens in mocks only where the passages are slightly difficult. CAT has significantly reduced the level, choosing the passages written in everyday language so it's easier for everyone to read. In cat the questions might be difficult but passages are usually very easy to read ( they want to focus on critical thinking aspect rather than English)
@@ananta.chhajer I see you sir, even I too did notice the difference in CAT RCs. And thank you for taking out your time to reply. That's a detailed response.
00:01 Improve accuracy in reading comprehension by eliminating wrong answer options. 01:11 Different types of questions in CAT reading comprehension. 02:21 Avoid options with extreme words. 03:30 Elimination techniques in RC 04:40 The relationship between societal attitudes and military policies in influencing each other for a vibrant society. 05:52 The tone of the author in the second paragraph is accusational. 07:06 Avoid incorrect linkages in reading comprehension questions. 08:17 Compare and justify each option in RC questions by analyzing the adjectives used.
@@Aestheticclipsedits Read with complete focus, and try to have a gist of what is given in which part of the passage, so you can easily re-read that part if required, also make diverse reading as a part of your daily reading habits, read passages of different disciplines.
The speaker discusses strategies for improving reading comprehension accuracy, particularly for GMAT exams. They outline six approaches: 1. Avoid extreme words (e.g., "all," "each," "every") in options. 2. Use the majority approach (broad and narrow) to identify the correct option. 3. Match the tone of the option with the author's tone in the passage. 4. Limit knowledge to what's mentioned in the passage (avoid external knowledge). 5. Avoid incorrect linkages between ideas. 6. Compare and justify each word in the option with the passage. These strategies aim to help test-takers eliminate incorrect options and improve their accuracy in reading comprehension questions.
