Cataclysm - Heroic Chimaeron Boss Strategy Guide Blackwing Descent 

Ah this brings me back. The best days of my WoW career was spent in Cata, and these videos were my bread and butter.

Even though i quit wow several months ago im still gonna watch this just to listen to Jesse...

Reasoning behind shamies are so beast at healing that fight is because of our earhtliving, its procing off chain heal + healing rain so the hot is on everyone nearly every second of the encounter, most of it is worthless healing but it still shows up because its not technically overhealing. Pusing him to about 23% before a feud phase, then waiting for massacre gives you about 17 seconds to heal up the group and push the last 1-2% makes the transition to phase 2 pretty safe.

@DDRisTricky Best way to do it on heroic is to have everyone stack. On heroic the boss runs significantly faster than a raid member can run so it is impossible to kite him, like many people attempt to do on normal or in beta. Even if he switches to a target and has to run half way across the room, he will kill them very quickly, and the up time you lose on melee is not worth having this happen. Keep external CDs on tanks, and have rogues evasion tank for 20 seconds each and that phase is easy!

Our bear tank tanked him from 20% to 0%, only got hit 3 times and dodged everything else. We filmed it, put epic maneuver, and it rocks.

@thesadistgod nope. Only heroic boss you need to kill to unlock others are HC Cho'Gall to open Sinestra.

jesse i notice that you don't use spirit walk often. correct me if i'm wrong but it seems like it would be helpful while getting to feud to pop it and while running cast some heals? i only ask because although my main is a lock i have a healer shammy heroically geared and would like to know if this particular spell is kind of a waste of time. :D

You didnt even said about using cd's on tanks in some crucial moments, when double attack tank in feud phase. Prob other healers took care of that.

@Rupain Actually, you can heal up to full after any Masacre. Just run in while the Masacre is being cast -> hero -> pop up all healing CDs while the dps finishes the 1-2%.

Its to bad he joined the guild. Only to be in the midst of a huge drama going on. They did pay for his Xfer though. They recruited him so the bad rep they have on the server might be overlooked. After the drama just happened. The chance of that happening, zero. But great video as always. Check out firetree forums for the drama.

@FullBlown26 He was fourth on healing for the kill. He did a great job on all attempts though, and is completely right when he said that shamans excel on that fight. Since we are all stacked up for most of the fight, chain heal is certainly the most effective hps per mps spell castable on that fight, and healing rain really makes things easier on the feud phase. Also, don't forget their mastery increases their healing on targets based on how much health they have. Perfect fight to have him for!

@IsisKoril Yes, it's the easiest, the only gimmick on this fight is the transition from P1 to P2. Magmaw, on the other hand... moving trails of fire :/

ONE @ US-Firetree is amazing!

One thing to note is that Disc priest make P2 last SOOO much longer due to their 'heals' coming from damage prevention rather than true healing. We run with 2 disc priest is our group for this fight and have yet to have an issue with killing this boss even when we have our raid around 50-75% average.

@MrGlennJohnsen I haven't run BWD much, but don't you need to beat Magmaw and the Defense System before you can get to Chimaeron?

@thesadistgod Chimeraon is by far the easiest 10man heroic in BWD. After Chimeraon look for Maloriak then Atramedes. As far as i know there's less than 100guilds world wide that has killed Magmaw 10man HC. Usually the 10man HC progression goes like this. Halfus HC. Chimeraon HC. Maloriak HC. Atramedes HC. Conclave HC. Omnotron HC. Valiona Theralion HC. Magmaw HC. Nefarian HC. Cho'Gall HC. Sinestra HC. Ascendant Counsil HC. sinestra is easier than counsil in 10man hc. GG blizz..

oh yes, shamans are absolut epic for this fight, both versions :) couldn't agree more and I'm just a tank. we're wiping on chim right now, just because of the lack of perfect transitions right now *sigh* .. oh well, I hope we're goin to kill him on monday and he'll finally drop that stupid leather gloves for me raaaagggeeee xD
