The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire on Catalina Island. Command 55 was first on scene and reported ten acres with no structure threat with Edison infrastructure nearby.
Battalion 7 & 14 ground units to Helispot 53A to be loaded into aircraft to assist on the island.
Copter 18 arrived at 53A, picking up overhead personal to be transported to the island.
Copter 22 made several trips taking engine crews and camp crews.
Air Rescue 5 was requested to help transport personal. Air rescue 5 also made several trips taking multiple hand crews.
The Catalina Plan is a prearranged strategic plan for large scale incidents on Catalina Island.
The fire was stopped at 17 acres with the help of LACo.FD’s arsenal of aircraft, firefighters on the island, mainland firefighters, LACo.FD Lifeguards and Avalon Fire Department personnel.
