LACoFD Copters, an Air Crane and SuperScoopers battle the Woolsey Fire. On Sunday, air operations were utilized to contain a flare up near Malibu Creek State Park. Copter 19 and the Air Crane were utilizing landing zone 88A for refilling located on the Pepperdine Campus. Copter 19 is a Sikorsky S-70A FireHawk that has a 1,000 gallon tank. LACoFD leases the Erickson Air-Crane S-64F that can hold 2,650 gallons of water or retardant. Additionally, the Los Angeles County used two water-scooping air tankers. The CL-415s, are leased from the Quebec government which can drop 1,620 gallons of water each drop after skimming a body of water to refill their tank which takes 12 seconds while flying at 100mph.
