I have a 2013 cruze lt 1.4L turbo with a bad catalytic converter and the mechanic said that if I don't get the Chevrolet oem catalytic converter then my check engine light won't turn off and the converter won't work properly. He said the converter I would need is a little over a $1,000. Is this true?
Im not a mechanic, but am mechanically inclined. So far on my cruze i have replaced my water pump, throttle body, coolant tank. Both 02 sensors and the valve cover gasket. Your videos have saved me so much money. Honestly thank you so much for doing this.
I have not replaced the valve cover yet but eventually I will have to. Everything else in your comment, I have replaced. Now I’m here for this exhaust/catalytic converter training.
Take off the motor mount on the left hand side like you’re doing a timing belt, and support the motors with a jack. You can raise of lower the motor to prevent taking the ax system apart.
I hate my cruze and you have alot of space to work with. I had remove my turbo just to get the bottom 4 bolts and remove a lot of hoses as well remove a few crappy design bolts it had such a big pain would be easy job if i did it like you did by removing the front of the car and fans ect.
I REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEOS ,I HAVE LEARNED A LOT,,AND THANKS FOR EXPLAINING WICH TOOLS TO USE BUT NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 2011 CHEVY CRUZE LT RS 1.4 TURBO ,I LIKE WHAT YOU DID ON THAT 2015 CHEVY CRUZE ,BUT YOU DID MENTION AT THE BEGINNING THAT YOU WOULD HAVE A VIDEO ON A OLDER YEAR,,I HAVE A P0420 CODE " SYSTEM LOW EFFICIANCY BANK # 1,,I REPLACED OXYGEN SENSOR UP STREAM AND BOTTOM,AND I EVEN USED A CAN SPRAY OF SEAFOAM THROUGH THE UP STREAM SENSOR NEXT TO THE FRONT EXHAUST MANIFOLD BUT SAME P0420 CODE KEEPS COMING BACK !! I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY VIDEOS ON HOW TO REMOVE MANIFOLD EXHAUST PLUS CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON A 2011 ,I WOULD MUCH APPRECIATE IT IF YOU GUYS CAN MAKE ONE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
@MMattes UNFORTUNATELY IT HAD A CRACK IN THE TURBO AND AIR PRESSURE WAS ESCAPING, SO IT WAS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE INTIRE TURBO ASSEMBLY PLUS NEW SENSORS BECAUSE I FOUND OUT ONE WAS A FAULTY SENSOR, GOOD THING IT HAD A LIFETIME WARRANTY FROM AUTOZONE.I HAD TO PUT A BIT MORE $$$$ THAN WHAT THE CAR WAS WORTH, SO I ENDED UP TRADING IT. "I'LL NEVER EVER, BUY A TURBO INGINE AGAIN.
My Cruze is a 2011. The cat. doesn’t look like this one. Parts stores show it as bolted to the exhaust manifold after the collector and it’s pretty long too. Can I get away with just the cat. replacement or does this version also need the exhaust manifold?
Bro I managed to break one the bolts at 5:12 I have those same bolts is there a way to remove and replace the bolt with a new if so please tell me how I greatly appreciate it 😢
If the oil filter cap isn’t on tight it will leak and spray all over the engine. My question: can that cause problems with the Cadillac converter. Or would it make your car give out Cadillac converter codes
Don't be ridiculous I'm not planing to drain the ac to do that. My mechanic changed my oil cooler and did all that without removing the radiator or ac line.
but wouldn't you only need to remove the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter off their studs, rest it down below the oil cooler to actually replace said Oil Cooler. No need to fully remove anything out of the engine bay since oil cooler is easy to get to That being said, my man's here is showing us how to REMOVE and REPLACE the catalytic converter and in doing so one might need to remove radiator and ac lines to make the job alot easier. TMYK
what year is this car mine is A 2015 and my heat shield doesn't look like this my cat convert lot easier then this video update your videos my exhaust manifold doesn't look like this
