An explosion close to Rockton, Ill. took place at Chemtool chemical plant Monday morning. Officials say the fire could burn for days. FULL STORY HERE: abc7.ws/3vyYnMJ
Gonna find out in a few weeks that the cause of the fire was due to upper management cutting corners on safety to save a few dollars. That's a pretty common theme in industrial disasters.
@@cliffcc they could have chemical fire extinguisher to put it out... I work in a plant that coated pipes for the gas and oil industry and where we powered coated pipes the system we had sucked out all the air to smouther out the fire.
sprinkler systems are water based...you meant to say a chemical fire suppression system..well now, that is different and uses either foam or an inert gas.
Exactly my thought. I am to the east in NH and wondering how it may affect my lungs once it gets this far. Years ago I landed in hospital with my asthma and a nurse says, "you have asthma and moved here?!" I guess we get everything coming cross country. 😁
@@trainzguy2472 Of course. There’s nothing you can do, but I darn sure would be asking people to leave waaaaaaay more than just 3 miles away!! They’re saying this thing is just being allowed to burn itself out, AND that it will likely burn for more than three more days??? 🥺
as a former employee from before the Lubrizol days i have to believe that the only reason there are no injuries is due to lubrizol's influence, if this had happened under the previous ownership i believe people would have died.
@Lila Yant-Holley I dont know the company, so I couldn't say. But the mayor or governor whoever is responsible for planning permits, should not have allowed this facility to be built within town, or city limits. It's just common sence.... something all governments lack
“Toxic compounds like lead, nitrogen and sulfuric acid.” I guess this reporter did not go to chemistry class in high school. (Nitrogen is not toxic, lead and nitrogen are not compounds. Lol!)
I saw this happen, I got some Chinese food and watched it happen. After one of the explosions, I was about a mile away and felt a piece of debris hit my moms car. This was bad. Real bad.
Correction: Warren Buffet is the Chairman, Ceo of Berkshire- Hathaway. I knew berkshire - hathaway was the company name but couldn't remember Mr Buffet's name at the time I made the comment below. Anyway Mr Buffet & Mr Gates want to build another nuclear power plant& the fact that he owns the company that owns the "grease" factory that currently is causing environmental damage in Rockton, Il & the surrounding area leads me to doubt his understanding of the enviromental issues we all face today. Should he & gates build a nuclear power plant when no one has the answer how to safely store the waste & since there has been an incident at one of his less then environmentally friendly properties should we all trust there wont be another if the plant is built???
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a trend in large facilities blowing up lately? It’s starting to seem a bit more than coincidence at this point
@dude DOG sure sound like an idiot when you talk about people you don’t even know like that. Seems like you are projecting your own little pathetic life 😂 if your gonna be an sjw, do it right for cryin out loud.
Call your congressmen & Senators & ask them to say NO to another nuclear power plant! We need CLEAN ENERGY!!! Not radiation waste that no one knows what to do with. Since berkshire- hathaway is responsible for this environmental disaster. Should he & gates get a chance at nuclear power??????
@eva tripp. What do you consider clean energy? Everything makes a mess somewhere. So-called clean energy requires mining and manufacturing, which make more messes than nuclear. Chemical/ nuclear engineer here.
