One of my uncles would love something like this, I will check the written article to share it with him. Nice review as always James, video liked as always too

@@MakeUseOf -- I know they have them to the west and north of me, all the way to Alaska, but we don't have them here in Oklahoma. I know they're one of the smartest animals. Thanks!
What camera system would work for a 3000sq foot home ? I want to use one camera to watch the front entry so I don't have to buy a video doorbell. Also, do you need a monitor at all? Can you just use the app?
The app on this isn't great, so I wouldn't suggest using it without a monitor. I love the Reolink systems because of the app on desktop & mobile. For a large house, I'd suggest maybe a separate Ethernet wiring circuit to for power and data to all the cams. You could go wireless, but then you'd be sucking the Wi-Fi signal away from other devices that need it. None of the CCTV systems will work well as a talkback door cam, so you'd need a Ring style camera for that.
Not easy to answer unfortunately - assuming it's BNC+DC, not all cabling is the same, some is lower quality and you'll either get severe distortion or nothing at all. If it's Ethernet, much more likely to work (with PoE cameras that is, not analog). Honestly, I wouldn't recommend installing analog cameras (even 4k ones) at this point, the tech is just too antiquated. Run some new Ethernet cabling for best quality and features.
What you can do if you want to view live on your desktop is to run another copy of windows in a virtual machine and then run an android emulator in that, or run an android box to your monitor with an x2 or more HDMI hub
@@MakeUseOf You can just download and install an Android emulator to your regular OS I just use VM's so I can separate the functionality of different OS
I just purchased this and the fan runs continually and is loud. Comparable sound to a small microwave running all the time which is annoying. Since practically it needs to be by ethernet and monitor (we use our tv with HDMI), it is loud for a living room. Not sure why the fan runs all the time. It has plenty of space around it for air flow.
@@UFRooster I plug a laptop fan in one of the usb ports. The fan will take away some of the heat. Then I push the vent where the fan is against a partition board inside of the tv stand. That reduced the noise a ton.
