Catch Crappie in Deep water with this Simple Bobber Setup (How to tie Slip Bobber)

As crappie start transitioning from their summer to fall feeding patterns, they will move toward deeper structure. When crappie school up on deeper cover, like brushpiles, it can be difficult to wait for your jig to reach those depths, especially when using a smaller jig. A great Bobber setup is to tie a bullet weight and swivel in between the bobber and jig.

Thanks for teaching us newbies a new way to jig in deeper water. I don't think I would have thought to use a bullet weight. Also I got some of the new slip bobbers you show in this video. If I can find some deep crappie this week I'm going to try it out.

I just bought my first light rod yesterday. It's the Shakespeare micro series 7ft light. I bought me some 1/16 and 1/32 Maribou jigs and I'm going to give this a try. Is there an advantage to this over just adding a split shot 2 feet above the jig? Btw, I'll tie a single overhand knot where I want the split shot to stay.
@Nazman06

I used a slip bobber rig in the hot Texas summer today. 20 feet of water. They were suspended 10 feet. The only problem is the bobber stop would get hung in the eye of my ACC 7 footer. I was using a size 3 bobber stop. I am going try the #2 size. Me and my fishing buddy caught 36 keepers.
@bigdoggstatus99
@bigdoggstatus99 2 года назад
Watch a video on the bobber stop knot. Tie it on with 1 size larger mono than you're fishing with, if possible, it goes through eyes like butter. Rubber stops are a problem when casting to fish over ten feet deep. They grip eyes and over a few casts change your set depth. If this doesn't help, change rods. Seriously, micro guides suck for slip bobber fishing; hands down Worst fishing innovation of the 20th century.

I tied a loop knot to the jig in the video. It depends on the style of lure I'm using, if I'm vertically fishing I tend to use a loop knot. If I'm casting, I will use an improved clinch knot or palomar knot

Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats ru-vid.comUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
