A great day fishing for cod and pollack in stunning surroundings.
Lures and light gear were the order of the day at beautiful Loch Leven in Glencoe (Loch Liobhan) on the West Coast of Scotland
Drifting the rough ground just metres from the shore saw lots of cod and pollack to the kayak with the metals once again taking most of the fish.

Hi Chris, I absolutely love these videos and love the yak reviews, but have you got a review on the motor and how you've set it up, or even a quick video showing the setup of it because I'm going to but the Sturgeon fx next month aswell as the motor so was wondering if you've got any videos or if you could do a video on it. Brilliant Chris. Good to see codling in the lochs. Long wait to find a fish, then a good few put things right again. I remember shore fishing in the sea lochs, loch long, the gairloch, etc. in the 70's---80's the size and numbers of fish we pulled in was unreal, but sadly, those days are long gone. Enjoyed the video mate. Arthur.

Good to hear the perspective from your kayak as I was fishing from the shore there on Saturday with similar results. I did have one pollock around a couple of pounds further along towards Glencoe village. Never had much near Glenuig either.

I was gutted about Glenuig! I’d been meaning to get up there for years! I think lock Leven will require a little more exploration as I’d quite like to catch a few of the wrasse and rays in there 🎣👍

There are two Alan, one in Kinross and one in Glencoe. The one in Glencoe is the Sea Loch 👍🎣

This is the sea loch, the fresh water Loch Leven is in the Perth and Kinross area, Chris is fishing the one at Kinlochleven / Ballahuilish, Lochaber district hope this is of interest.

Me and my friend going to go to loch leven in a couple off weeks with telescopic road and few lures u were would be best place to park and go if ur not on boat thank u great video and some nice fish

Hi mate, park at the Ballachulish car park and there’s a point that runs out to the right of the launch. Anywhere on the loch side of that. About 20ft cast is all you’ll need. It’s snaggy mind so maybe take a float set up as well. 👍🎣

Hi Chris, it’s pronounced Lee-ven, if you’re in the Kinlochleven area there’s a chance of a sea trout, you might need a permit to fish for them , ask in the P.O. I the village. Tight lines. Jimf 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

At first I thought 'Loch leven, western Scotland? You sure about that' but then I realised you were on Loch Liobhann, or Lee Un. It's a lovely place, but it's a lot like Etive. Some days it will produce fish asfter fish, then nothing for a week. You got there on a good day it seems. Oh, its pronounced Bala Hoo Lish.

Great video as usual 👍🏻, what's your recommendation on hooks for this type of fishing, barbed or barbless? Always conscious that I want to release the fish as easily as possible without causing any damage to the fish.

Hi Stephen I'm glad you enjoyed it. It depend on the hook and the fish I'm targeting. As a rule if it's a big barb and there are small fish around I'll crush the barb with my pliers. I never use trebles with metals and soft plastics either. If I do have a treble on a hard bait I debarb all of them. Hope that helps 👍🎣

Hi, when fishing an area you haven’t fished before what research do you do before getting out on the water? We are currently in Scotland and are planning to fish some of the lochs and Port Logan in June, so any info is appreciated as we have a sib which we fish from but are new to this type of fishing as we usually beachcast. We really enjoy watching your videos.

First stop for me is always the navionics app to check the relief shading for that area/water depth weather the ground is rocky, mixed or mud etc., what the currents are like and the tidal range. Then I’ll have a Google and ask on Facebook groups for any local info. Hope that helps 👍🎣

I get them from all over to be honest. Most I get from eBay, sometimes I buy from Ali Express and sometimes people send me them to try out. I just look for 25g and 40g weedless lures. I’ve just done a fishing set up vid I’ll try and show the kayak on the roof of the van if I get a chance. Hope that helps 👍🎣
