Mind blowing! You are the only person I have ever heard of catching Snook or Barracuda in the Panhandle.

I wish I could say I have been the only one, but that's not the case. I had seen rare reports of snook being caught in the panhandle and never really believed it until this trip. I've had a couple of friends catch barracuda in the Santa Rosa Sound and I was very surprised that I caught both in the same area. Hopefully the snook numbers grow and they adapt to survive the cold temps during winter.

Great video! I have not heard of snook in this area or baracuda in the backwaters until now! I am learning from you, young man, and I hope to run into you on the water someday.

Thanks Andy! I've seen reports of other people catching snook in this area on rare occasions. The barracuda surprised me with it being that far back in brackish water. Hopefully what I'm sharing helps you catch more fish and maybe one day we will run into each other.

I'm just glad those fish were there this time. I've fished this area a few times before and it had never been this good. Thanks for watching!

You ever make a video of your set up?
@oafishing
@oafishing 11 месяцев назад
I made one a couple of years ago but do need to make an updated one. I'm out for work for a couple of more months and will be making an updated one when I get back focusing on the kayak and rod/reel setup. Here is the link for that other vid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6tVhManKUHA.html

Wow, they were stacked up in that shallow stretch. Probably a dark bottom that has that water warmer than the rest of the bayous. Nice work.
@oafishing
@oafishing Год назад
They sure were! That would be my guess too or a deeper hole they can hang out during the cold snaps. Thank brother!

Where were you and where did you launch? I’m getting back into kayak fishing, I need areas to launch, and fyi I catch and release. I will occasionally eat one.

Sorry but I hope you understand that I can't give out this location. I will on occasion give out certain spots. I recommend the GoPaddling App that shows a lot of kayak launch spots.

@@andrewlegrow-zm8td that's true, never know unless you ask. That paddling app has helped me out. I appreciate you enjoying the vids and hopefully they are helpful. I just remember being a new kayak angler and trying to figure it out so why not share my experiences and knowledge for others to learn from.

Need more proof of climate change? I seen thousands of Tarpon last Oct migrating in Panama City. Used to be a pod of 10 or 15 randomly, then thousands. Might make fishing better but it also makes hurrricanes worse.
@oafishing
@oafishing 2 месяца назад
I think the snook may be adapting to the colder temps and as for tarpon they are a protected species and can see how their numbers have grown over the years. I've seen a lot more in the bay during the summer and they do push all the way to 331 bridge.
