Had a crazy day kayak fishing! Started off slow but boy did it pick up, and got into some really nice fish!
What do you think? Is a 45-46inch fish 50 pounds? She had quite the belly!

Awesome catch! Congrats! The power and aggression of those 34" fish vs that huge cow always amazes me. The term I use is, "wild, crazy teenager vs drunk old man".

right on man!!! But, ummmm, there is a weight limit on that kayak ya know? Hauling in 300lb of stripers might overload the poor thing. What a fun day you had. I've never had a day like that living out here in California (basically SoCal just north of Pt Conception a few miles). We might get a 30lb halibut (ok technically flounder but it's the best we can do here...), a 20lb salmon, some PITA ray of some sort (they actually are tasty if you ever want to keep and try one), and the odd ling cod can get into double digits as in 10-14lb maybe...oh wait sometimes there can be a bigger white seabass but it is likely only off-shore. You folks over on that 'other' coast get all those blues and the big striper than make ours look like guppies. I am going to make it there in the next couple years for sure in the mean time I can enjoy by what you all share....thanks a bunch!

I'm not nearly that fat, and the weight capacity is 500. That's cool though, still plenty of fun fish to chase on the west coast. Nothing wrong with any of those fish you mentioned.

nice fish! im thinking low - mid 40s. Just curious what you were using for rod and reel for that specific fish?

Thanks for your input Jason. All the gear I used are in the video's description, I should start mentioning that in the video lol. Its a St. Croix Inshore Heavy power 7' matched with a Shimano Stradic FL 5000, slightly overkill for most of what I do but a good all purpose big fish rig in my opinion

I believe that’s the St.Croix Tidemaster 7’ heavy. I have the same exact rod.
