Hey bro, i am from Howrah city, India. We say this catfish is 'Magur mach'. In my aquarium i keep this fish, but its tentacles hurt my other fish. So beware.
When you catch your own pet fish, you actually do an unfair act to that wild fish like catching it from bigger space and putting it right into a small aquarium. But when you buy aquarium fish, she was already born and grown in glass.
How do you think the aquarium industry started? People went out to get wild fish and bred them in order for you and others to buy them. So saying that it's wrong to do this is saying its wrong to have fish as a pet and you should release yours. The aquarium fish come from a line of wild fish so without that wild fish you and others wouldn't have them. That goes for any pet owner. As long as you provide the fish with the necessary basics it will be fine. Yes, it will take a little bit for the fish to get used to a tank but it will be fine and that goes for any fish. Also if the fish is small for example a 3 inch fish, it really doesn't matter. The fish isn't using the whole lake/pond/stream so that doesn't matter. That's like saying someone born in space would have a hard time on earth because you took him/her from this big space when him/her only occupies a small area.
@@darius5396 The first ones are the only exception, they were needed to create fish that are used to small areas to live and swim in. You saying that a three inch fish doesnt need all that space is wrong, A three inch fish could live in a bowl, does this make it right? no. Fish taken from a large area dont swim around in circles all day making sure they stay in their imaginary box. It is better to buy something that is already accustomed to the living environment than to take something that may have had babys to feed/guard.
@@chrism8996 I didn't say a bowl was suitable and that's not a good comparison. Fish that live in big areas stay in a certain area, they don't go exploring the whole pond/lake, it's called territory. many fish do this in aquariums. I see this every time I go fishing, you can't debunk living proof. Parental fish don't go out very far from the nest because of protecting their young/eggs. I have a 3-4 inch bluegill I caught from a lake and it's doing great. There are several videos on RU-vid that show wild fish getting used to aquariums in a couple days to a week. Also if the fish doesn't like the aquarium after sometime then it can always be put back. Some say that's bad because of potential parasites but that's only if the fish in your aquarium have a parasite which should be known before introducing any new fish to a tank. There is nothing wrong with doing it just because people's feelings get involved. Facts don't care about feelings. Also If the store doesn't have what you want then a lake, pond, stream, or river is the next place to go.
I am a Fishing expert.I have caught catfishes. If it has 6whiskers,It is eel tail catfish. And if it has 5whiskers,It is definetly not fish for your aquarium. It is a Swamp catfish that grows to 120kgs.
It’s sad that he took them out of their natural environment and put them in a tank . It’s different if they were bread in a tank and only knew what’s it like to be in a tank
