It's not like I couldn't defend myself if they ever tried to actually do anything violent against me (which would be rare, since mostly women and children come as refugees).

Living in south east Asia my whole life, I can tell you that this issue is very very true and should be recognized as a genocide almost as if the modern day holocaust, Cate Blanchett is a beautiful woman who spoke so eloquently regarding this issue. Myanmar is done not just because they targetted 600k muslims or a million christians (400k in thailand alone) but because they share a boarder with china and have a beachhead and the distance from M.E bases to it is short and direct. My goodness. Her bravery and those who are survivors holding on to hope that someone out there might care...uhhh...it just breaks my heart. We need to do better as ppl and remember how lucky we are and aid those in need! It is imperative and there is such a sense of urgency yet we ignore the sirens due to lack of empathy and understanding. Smh. This is such an important task not just for ppl there but for the world to take on. We must care for each other.

As a Bangladeshi, I have quite strong emotions about this. The effects are not only severely felt by the victims, but the country of Bangladesh as a whole. Being a very overpopulated country, a very poor one, and just ridden with problems all around, it is hard for us. Many of our people live in similar living conditions, some worse. It is hard to coexist between our highly populated country and the one blessing our country has been given, in the form of nature. It has taken a toll on us. Though I give my full respect to the hardship they are forced to endure, it is inspiring yet tragic. It infuriates me to see the lack of UN action and how Myanmar is just allowed to do this. It is inhumane. I can't express my anger over this topic, and I hope eventually we can solve it.
Love you Cate, You are doing what most of these gutless world leaders failing to do for the persecuted Rohingya minority! You are an example to humanity unlike those leaders LOST their moral compass.

If adequate relief is not being made available to the refugees, why is it that the oil-rich arabs will not provide funds or to bring these refugees back into their homes but they have lots of funds to throw around to forment unrest and calls for sharia in faraway non-muslim lands ?
Why it is the responsibility of oil reach Arabs to fund them who had nothing to do with the conflicts? What about big brothers like India who have expelled the Rohingya refugees too, and gave support to Myanmar for this ethnic cleansing? When fanatics talk, truth and logic are always fall victim.

The UN cannot solve the complexities in Yemen and it is targeting Myanmar because it has no backers. We are the backers, we will not allow you to start a mess like another Syria. How do we solve the Rohingnya problem? It is through the kindness and understanding of the Myanmar and the Rohingnya religious leaders. We are all brothers. Then, let India, China and neighboring countries encourage regional trade and investment.

People talk about War Crimes committed by Myanmar. What about the war crimes committed (still in process) by Western countries in the middle East. They bombard Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. Don't people die by these attacks by Western front? Is that not war crime? Why UN is silent about this? Because is it (UN) run by West?
Because Without suffering there can't be life. It's part of life everyone goes through it. Some people suffer more than others if you're feeling guilty donate your money and time to a charity.

As a human being I can completely understand what these Rohingyas are going through at the moment,but also at the same time they are 'security threat' to so many other foreign countries, particularly countries from South Asia,like Bangladesh,Pakistan and India. And whatever is happening to them is not at all our fault other than just Myanmar's authority and their army. I am an Indian and I do believe in humanity,but for me my country comes first and we can't take even a small amount of their population in my country. In India we already have massive population problem which is difficult for the nation to feed,and now if these Rohingyas enter my country then it will be even more extra burden to our economy,and me just like every other Indian citizen don't pay tax for some illegal immigrants that has nothing to do with my country or with us.
I'm pretty sick of people suggesting someone else act (especially people worth 80 Million). Testimony is worth nothing, you can read articles on this you don't need Hollywood to tell you.
