I don’t understand that kind of sarcasm and snipe. There are already lots of discussion about whether she meant it in the context of the British society (a place where she has lived for decades and still living there) where if one is not in the noble class then one is middle class. Or whether she was referring to her financial upbringing from a single parent household as her father passed away when she was 10. In any case, she was talking about the refugee crisis and trying to draw public empathy to that situation. Why do ppl ignore the broader context and her intent and just want to amplify on that one point ?

I'm shocked how humble she is when receiving an award. Many of our American stars are so egomaniacal it's nauseating. I don't know the last time I've watched an American award show for this reason, just don't enjoy them any more. Blanchette is this huge, A-list, veteran actress, yet still has the demeanor of a brand new starlet, thankful for the opportunity, and thankful to all the people around her.

Cate Blanchett is on the same level as Bette Davis and Katherine Hepburn: talent, hard work, style and class
@aaronmcdonaldful
@aaronmcdonaldful Год назад
You forgot one, Meryl! Also to a slightly lesser extent, Judy Davis although it's arguable if she qualifies in your criteria. She's certainly talented and hard working and i would argue that she possess her own unique style but class is certainly something to question. They say one of the reasons she has never won an oscar is simply due to her notoriously bad attitude and conduct. In fact in one of the biggest shocks in oscar history when Marisa Tomei infamously won best supporting actress over Judy Davis was said to be a conspiracy to deny Davis the award due to her statements crapping all over the academy and the hollywood film establishment. If her disdain ended at the Hollywood elites i'd have more respect her for being a bit of a rebel but unfortunately from what i've read about her, she was in fact a very toxic individual who was very difficult to work with and treated everyone like second class citizens. Some people have even gone as far as suggesting she likely was a contributing factor that lead to the untimely death of river phoenix. They were in the middle of making a film together and according to various reports from all those who worked on the film, she made his life a living hell! Of course this is all hearsay and i have no idea if she's a monster but it's quite interesting to look into! Rip river!

Her classic beauty is almost ethereal yet she never fails to portray her characters in a relatable and natural way. Glad she won the BAFTA for Tar. I kept asking myself who else could have played this role and with most of her parts the answer is usually no one but her. She becomes the characters she plays, makes them fit like a perfectly tailored suit. She didn’t win the Oscar award for Tar and that’s ok. Same here ,but I have a feeling that she won't snag her third oscar as Michelle yeoh is flavor of the month in Hollywood right now, and will snatch the big one away from Cate.

I remember seeing Cate and her friend Simon on Red Faces (Hey Hey It’s Saturday), years ago. She sang something called “Weird Love Song”. It was hilarious and, in retrospect, gave a glimpse of her future.

There is no doubt in my mind that Cate Blanchett is a genius. As great as many of her performance have been, I still believe her best is yet to come. Not only does she have an enviable career in films and in the theatre and has also done some television, she has been married for 25 years to Andrew Upton, and has four kids. I have been lucky enough to see Cate on stage twice.

Yes Yes Yes!!! Perfect!!! ❤️❤️❤️I have loved Cate Blanchett for years, she is the best actress in the world for me!!! Plus, a classy woman, a wonderful human being, I watch and read everything available about Cate, including her videos and interviews with her. I'm waiting for an Oscar for Tor! I think I'm going to cry tears of happiness when she gets it! I enjoy every situation in which Cate is distinguished and appreciated, as here!!! I dream that one day I will get her autographed photo! It will be the most valuable for me. Greetings to all fans of Cate Blanchett! We have good taste! hehe… Sorry for my poor English, it's not my first language :)
